A COMPLETELY UNFAIR TRAP FOR TOURISTS
A COMPLETELY UNFAIR TRAP FOR TOURISTS! SHAME ON YOU! 24000 fiorints fine (~66€)
We are foreign tourists and we acted in total good faith, holding a 72-hour transit pass from budapest
When we arrived we asked if the ticket we had was valid and they clearly said it was. We made an honest mistake due to wrong information. A female inspector and a security guard stopped us at tram 1 from dorottya utca. They spoke ZERO English and we had to desperately use Google Translate to communicate. Instead of explaining our options or helping us understand the rules, they just forced us to sign and pay money on the spot immediately, giving us no choice or explanation. Moreover having paid and signed on the spot we couldn't ask for a refund. This is a shameful way to treat international visitors who are clearly trying to respect the law. Total lack of transparency and professionalism. Disgraceful. I recommend you avoid this city which survives just because it's near lillafured which is a very pretty city, apart from that the only incame they make is from fines given to tourists. Stay at budapest or visit orher hungarian cities which are far better then this city of desolation and corruption.
