Many things.
Many things.
I am writing this after what is probably my 5th stay in this hotel (and for contect, about my 50th in Manhattan and maybe my 120th hotel stay this year).
The location is fab for the parts of Manhattan that I like, but the main prompt for this lazy Englishman to write was my experience with the reception staff, and in particular Etson Peralta.
Now, Etson is super nice, friendly, efficient and all that stuff, but he did an "exceeded expectations" thing that blew me away.
Back in about May, I stayed at this Moxy and they had an unfortunate middle of the night fire alarm (false alarm, but we filed outside all the same).
When I checked in for this stay, 24 Sep, he recognised me from that night! And trust me, I'm a very easy to forget average guy.
He remembered me, and the night in question, and we ended up joking and enjoying a shared memory of a night that wasn't particularly great for either of us. A great service turn around.
He also offered me a choice of rooms, as kind of an apology for the previous event.
I'm in a kind of service industry myself, and found him very impressive.
Sincere thanks to him, and my team and I will be using his hotel regularly from now on.
