Misled From the Start – Now in Court Proceedings

My father purchased a 2021 Kia Ceed from Motor Range with around 14,000 miles on the clock after being repeatedly assured both over the phone and in person that the vehicle had full service history. My father is an elderly disabled ex-forces pensioner who suffers with PTSD and relied heavily on having reliable transport.

In under six months, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic turbo failure. Following the failure, Kia advised us there was no record of the vehicle having full service history, meaning the 7-year Kia warranty we had been told we had was also brought into question. After numerous emails and phone calls, Motor Range eventually confirmed the vehicle in fact had no service history at all, despite repeatedly assuring us before purchase that it did.

From that point onwards, dealing with Motor Range became an absolute nightmare.

Emails were largely ignored, questions were avoided and information constantly changed depending on who we spoke to. We repeatedly requested information and internal communications relating to both the sale and handling of the complaint, which legally should have been provided within a certain timeframe, yet they failed to do so and still continue to withhold a large amount of information from us.

The finance company themselves became involved due to the seriousness of the issues and also experienced problems obtaining responses and information from Motor Range. They ultimately upheld our complaint, yet despite this, Motor Range continued to drag matters out and make the entire process unnecessarily difficult.

We attended a meeting with management at the dealership after the vehicle failed, where we were told that if we accepted the vehicle being repaired and did not take matters further, they may be able to provide a courtesy vehicle and potentially move the finance onto another vehicle more suitable for our needs.

After this meeting, communication deteriorated even further and we were largely ignored until we advised them they had 7 days to make payment following the court ruling in our favour, at which point responses suddenly became much quicker.

The entire situation caused significant financial loss, additional transport and hire car costs, loss of use of the vehicle and huge amounts of unnecessary stress for our family.

After months of trying to resolve matters directly, we were ultimately forced into court proceedings, where judgment was entered against Motor Range Ltd and awarded in our favour, although even now they continue to dispute and avoid responsibility for the situation.

Something else consumers should be aware of is that Motor Range are not members of The Motor Ombudsman. Many people assume dealerships are part of this scheme, however Motor Range are not. When a dealership is not part of The Motor Ombudsman, consumers have very little recourse or independent support available when serious issues arise after purchasing a vehicle, which only made this situation even more difficult to deal with.

Based on our experience, I would not advise anybody to buy a vehicle from Motor Range.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We regret that you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of this matter regarding your father's car.

Following the turbo fault being diagnosed, we offered to carry out the necessary repairs and were willing to investigate and resolve the issue. However, this opportunity was declined and the matter was instead referred to your finance company, Black Horse. Following their investigation, Black Horse concluded that there had been no wrongdoing on our part and confirmed that we should have been given the opportunity to complete the repair.

It's unfortunate that there was a misunderstanding regarding the manufacturer's warranty. The vehicle was sold with an extended warranty, as it was not covered by a manufacturer's warranty at the time of sale. Your father agreed to purchasing this extended warranty and the contact was signed. This matter was also investigated by Black Horse, who found no evidence of misrepresentation. Furthermore, the turbo repair could have been completed under the extended warranty cover provided with the vehicle.

We also reject the suggestion that we ignored requests for information or withheld correspondence. We responded to the requests made and have no record of any court proceedings being served upon us as described in your review.

With regard to the return of the vehicle, we agreed to accept the return. Any usage charges applied were determined by Black Horse due to the mileage covered during ownership and were not charges imposed by Motor Range.

Finally, while we are not members of The Motor Ombudsman, membership is a voluntary scheme. As a business, we are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for our finance activities, adhere to strict compliance standards, and utilise approved alternative dispute resolution processes. We always aim to resolve concerns fairly, promptly, and professionally.

We regret that you remain unhappy with the outcome and wish you all the best for the future.

5/5 Stars - Absolute peace of mind from a proper dealership


After a complete nightmare with a previous dodgy dealer who sold me a dangerous car, dealing with Motor Range was a total breath of fresh air.

Right from the very start, Ryan went above and beyond by sending me a brilliant, highly detailed video of the Nissan Juke so I knew exactly what I was looking at. His communication and help all the way through the process until the day I collected the car was top-tier.

Motor Range clearly don't cut corners either. During their Pre-Delivery Inspection, they made sure the car was completely refreshed and safe, putting four brand new tyres, new rear brake discs, and pads on it, along with a fresh service and MOT before handing over the keys.

Ryan was fantastic during the pick-up process too, even sorting out a tricky situation swapping the car over from the previous owner's disability tax class onto a monthly Direct Debit to ensure I was completely legal and ready to go.

The car drives absolutely perfectly. It is so reassuring to find a reputable dealer that actually cares about safety, quality, and brilliant customer service. Highly recommend!

Well what can I say

Well what can I say , SUPERB that's what ! I live in Cornwall and have been searching for a BMW M235i , I found one on the Motor Range website but this was in Manchester an awful long way from me , I enquired about it and requested a video ,Leighton (sales manager) rang me straight away and was extremely helpful and informative, a great video was sent by Furcon,I decided to go ahead with the purchase and decided to fly to Manchester ,I informed the dealership about this and spoke to Aaron who was great and kindly arranged that I would be picked up at the airport, I was met on arrival as promised by Adam the Salesman who would be looking after me, This whole experience for step 1 to finish was an absolute joy , I will also say when at the dealership everybody that had been dealing with me came and introduced themselves and made me feel so welcome, I was so surprised being such a big site how personal and friendly the service was, very refreshing indeed ! Adam , Leighton , Aaron and Furcon you are a credit to the business 🙌 . Oh yeah , nearly forgot , the car was Awsome too 😁
