Sunset this grill
To start, we wanted to have a nice meal and relax watching the sunset. Unfortunately, the solid wood chairs felt like the rocks we’d been sitting on all day in the adjacent mountains. The waiter first greeted us and informed us of the specials. He then left without asking if we wanted drinks or an appetizer to start. After taking our order and drink request, he came back with bread and the salads, mine with the wrong dressing, minus our drinks. After a minimum of 10 minutes, they were not very busy, I had to ask him to bring our drinks. The bread had a nice texture with the flavor of a piece of paper. My wife’s salad dressing was on the plate with salad added on top. She had to swirl the salad on her plate to get, the apparently illusive dressing, taste.
At this point we had received our drinks. I guess the carbonation for the soda machine was hiding too. Two different flavors, both as flat as the bread tasted. My wife ordered a pasta marinara plate. She swears it tasted just like the jar sauce we had at her mother’s last week. For me, the raspberry duck. I have had some wonderful duck over the years, but never a knock down drag out fight… this duck was ready to go 9 rounds! It laughed when I showed it the knife, literally kicking my rice off the tiny 10 inch oval plate in a fit of defiance. I’ve had less messy hands eating a rack of ribs. Exhausted, with a fine sheen of sweat on my brow, I couldn’t contemplate what might come of coffee or dessert, so we called a night. I’m pretty sure I would have been more satisfied with a country fried duck at Cracker Barrel.
