Quick response when I had questions about the layout and printing my order. Also the print specialist CL took time to go over each page detail and corrected the details as we spoke.
The software to upload and form the book was relatively intuitive, though it took me a moment to understand content upload order. The books arrived within about two weeks from the time the order was placed. The quality was very high - the book "felt" good in my hands, and looked good, too. However, there were some issue with printing. Despite the specific spine width instruction, there remained a line on one side that was not there in the preview. Moreover, my print failed to include the last seven pages of my book (I did ask about this during the confirmation phone call which Mixam offers - and they confirmed all pages in the uploaded file would be printed. They were not). This was dissappointing. Granted, I only printed 5 review copies for colleagues to read and make suggestions from. So, I had to manually print the extra pages and attempt to glue them into an already printed book. Nevertheless, I can say Mixam was far easier to navigate than other online book printing vendors I tried (and I tried a few of them), and they offered a much fairer price. Pros and Cons.

better than expected. Great quality and a super convenient website that is detailed yet easy to use
Easy to create, decent amount of options, and a handy template that is free to use. As well as fantastic value for the price, love the quality!
It was also packaged well and got to me perfectly.
I am very happy with my order!
Have used mixam for a couple of orders. Quality was excellent, price was reasonable, delivery was punctual.
Mixam surpassed all expectations on my last book order! Would recommend highly!
Quality prints, recyclable options and reasonable prices, will definitely be using again!
After spending over $2,700 & trying to get ahold of staff - I would not recommend. I paid additional fees, highest fees to have magazines delivered by specific dates. Staff kept telling me "we'll let production know, call you back" I would never receive a phone call to follow up or an email. I spent way too much money to overnight my recent order. Fed Ex shows that I will not receive my package until after the timeframe I needed & paid for. Staff was rude and insisted that their timelines were only estimated however my invoices show otherwise. Shopping around for a new printing company and after the experience with Mixam I am perfectly fine paying more elsewhere.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience ordering magazines from this company. I placed my order on February 10th, 2026, with an expected delivery date of March 4th. This timeline was critical, as I needed the magazines by March 7th for one of our student organization’s largest events of the year.
Unfortunately, the order was delayed to March 12th, which already made it unusable for our event. Even more frustrating, I was explicitly assured that the magazines would be completed by Friday, March 6th—before the event—but this promise was not kept. Instead, the order was not completed until two weeks later and ultimately was not delivered until March 24th.
This delay caused significant inconvenience not only for me, but also for my officer board and the many attendees who were expecting the magazines. The materials had been heavily promoted on our social media, so the absence of the magazines at such a major event reflected poorly on our organization.
While the company did refund my shipping costs and provided a 10% discount, this compensation did not match the magnitude of the impact. When I requested a more reasonable partial refund given the circumstances, my request was denied.
Overall, the lack of reliability, missed deadlines, and insufficient resolution to the issue made this a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend this company for time-sensitive orders.

The books turned out beautifully and they were very helpful with setting the spine. Colors were vibrant and clean and shipping was very fast. Thank you for a job well done.
I ordered 200 hardcover books from Mixam in February 2025 for distribution to PBS stations. Instead, 130 defective books were delivered to PBS supporters.
Communication was poor from the start. Despite Mixam's 24-hour response promise, emails and calls often went unanswered for days. Replies were vague, and I couldn't get clear production updates.
Shipping Address Errors: The portal displayed only one shipping location, even though my order specified two destinations. Multiple follow-ups were required to get this corrected, yet the portal continued showing incorrect information throughout production.
I ordered through Mixam's Chicago office. No terms disclosed that orders could be printed abroad. I learned mine was produced in Canada after contacting them, which conflicted with my book's "Printed in the USA" statement. My concern was dismissed.
Delays and Equipment Issues: My original delivery date was March 6. On March 9, I was informed that their binding equipment was malfunctioning. I was promised a manager would call to discuss - that call never came. The books finally shipped on March 16, ten days late.
Another Shipping Failure: When Mixam contacted UPS to reroute part of my shipment to Detroit, they failed to update the recipient's name on the package. My office building refused delivery because no such person or company was listed. I had to contact UPS directly to resolve their error, causing yet another delay.
Defective Product - The Critical Issue: My distributor received the books and sent me photos of the cover. When I had copies overnighted to me for inspection, I immediately noticed significant page wrinkling in all of them. I instructed my distributor to inspect their remaining inventory. Unfortunately, by this time, 130 books had already been shipped to PBS members.
All 60 books have the same defect: wrinkling on the first and last ~6 pages. This uniform pattern across all copies indicates a manufacturing issue (likely a humidity-control failure), not transit damage, which would cause random defects.
The Real Damage: After multiple delays, 130 PBS supporters who pledged support as early as November 2025 have now received substandard books. My reputation with PBS stations is severely damaged. The supporters waited patiently, only to receive something of unacceptable quality.
When I reported the defect with photo and video evidence, Mixam's response was:
1. Suggest the problem is "transit moisture" (contradicted by the consistent defect pattern)
2. Recommend I let the books "settle" for 48-72 hours.
3. Request that I photograph 25-50 MORE books
4. Ask if the books have been "used" and whether they need to be "collected."
5. NO commitment to reprint or refund
The books can't be used because they're defective. 130 have already gone to end customers. Retrieving them isn't easy since they're with individual PBS supporters.
Before discovering the defect, Mixam's Customer Service Team Lead offered 10% compensation for the delays. That offer is completely insufficient for an order where 130 defective books have already reached customers, and the remaining 70 are equally unusable.
I paid upfront. PBS supporters were given inferior products. PBS stations are receiving complaints, and my company's reputation with them is being harmed.
I chose Mixam based on high-quality test prints and a careful review. The reality was communication failures, undisclosed international production, equipment issues, shipping errors, and defective products with no adequate remedy offered.
Timeline of Failures:
1. Communication failures (February-March)
2. Shipping address portal error
3. Undisclosed Canadian production despite "Printed in USA" statement
4. Equipment malfunction delays (10 days late)
5. Incorrect recipient name on rerouted package
6. Defective product delivered - all 200 books affected
7. 130 defective books were already distributed before the defect was discovered
8. No commitment to remedy from Mixam
If you need professional-grade work with strict deadlines and high-quality standards, think twice before choosing Mixam. Test prints may be great, but full orders can fail. If something goes wrong, don't expect customer service, accountability, or a solution.
I escalated to the president twice. As of this review, Mixam will not reprint or refund, even after learning that 130 defective books reached customers.
Notice reviews criticizing quality control, page waviness, and customer service. This is a pattern, not a rare incident.

Love the number of print options, general quality of printing and speed with which my book was produced! Mixam really is responsive to artists!
I am frustrated, however, that one cannot edit files already uploaded. As far as I can tell, the files of the book I paid for (my proof copy) are locked after the order was placed. I found a few flaws and wanted to swap out a few pages I made corrections on, but I have to insert all my pages individually again. This wouldn't be so bad if I could upload my assembled body in a single PDF, but every time I tried this (per the Mixam instructions) it would freeze when about half of it uploaded.
I'm also frustrated in the quiet price increase in the past couple of weeks. I had priced a print run of 35 copies of my book at about $17 per unit after shipping, but when I went to place the actual order, it was almost $25 after shipping. Yikes! I realize that some products and services have jumped because of oil prices & the unfortunate war, but I wish Mixam was more up front on the home page about this.
