Same company as Enginehaus

Same company as Enginehaus - they use scrapyard engines, are expert at the flannel... just waiting for the manufacturer's seals etc, and provide a 12 month warranty that is completely useless. Had my engine leaks fixed by local garage, left with £430 bill I had to pay - their reimbursment was 'in the out-tray', 'in the post', 'waiting for authorisation'......needless to say never arrived.
Keep well clear

AVOID Midland Engineering. They are a rip-off.

Poor experience here too. Utterly incompetent. My X-Trail went in for a reconditioned engine following a timing chain failure. I paid them £1800 for this. It took 4 weeks instead of the advertised 5 working days. On collection, the turbo and AC were not working. I drove back and they fixed the turbo. (Pipe not connected). The car has been running for over a year now, but I have been informed that there are oil leaks everywhere around the engine. This because of poor quality sealant used. The timing chain is highly likely to fail again as a result. There is no way this is a recon engine. I could NOT get the engine number out of them despite weeks of trying. A worthless 12-month guarantee which clearly stated would be invalid if any faults were due to oil leaks from non-replaced parts. Ashley even got angry with me for complaining about it on the phone. I can’t afford legal action. He sounded entirely convincing but the finished job was not so.

You have been warned. DO NOT APPROACH AND DO NOT believe anything this lot tell you.

Bad experience

Bad experience, VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI had a recon engine, but oil leaks, engine light on, no air con and now turbo failed.
Just been told that it looks like the engine came from a scrap yard!

Liars & useless

I payed these money grabbing & lying guys to recondition my BMW E46 engine.. It cost me £1836.. 4 months later it developed an oil leak.. I was unable to drive due to an operation, so, 2 months after, i contacted them.. They promised to get someone to come pick my car up & fix it. i have been let down4 or 5 times now... I would not trust these guys to pump my bike type up...They want your money, & couldnt give a dam about you or your car.. They give you a waste of time 12 month warranty. That's a joke.. Im now going to report them to trading standards, then see my solicitor about a small claims case..

Unacceptable and appalling service/behaviour from Midland Engineering

My car was repaired by them - April 17 - and it broke down 7 months and 8,000 miles later. I tried to contact them and they have ignored my request for them to honour the warranty. They have hung up on me when they realise who it is on the line, or left the call to ring out. They have returned my letters saying they have moved. This is totally unacceptable and appalling behaviour. This started in November 17. Still trying.
Initially they asked for payment by bank transfer (at the last moment) saying that their card machine was not working. I had my concerns then but had to get my car back.

Having now read everyone else's problems with this company I can say that I have a solicitor trying to make a case against them but cannot do so without having the name of the owner of Midland Engineering as they have to have a named person to take a case against. Has any one else managed to get their claim to the court?

The worst "company" I have ever dealt …

The worst "company" I have ever dealt with. Not only are they completely hopeless with the technical aspects , they are bare faced liars - Ash obviously has some sociopathic issues as he's really comfortable telling you things he absolutely knows to be untrue.
After 6 months of excuses and lies I finally got my car back with an engine they had fitted, but it was missing many parts, they had shredded many of the hoses jamming the engine in , as well as many of the cables. The ignition packs were fitted to the wrong cylinders and they had wired up the ECU incorrectly so they car couldn't start.
I got it to a real garage to fix, they were amazed with the state it had been left in and the absolute incompetence of the "work"
I expect they will close down the website and start again with another name soon to prey on other unsuspecting people.

Unbelievable!

How these guys are still in business is beyond me!
Used this garage for a reconditioned engine, since found out they fitted the wrong engine! Paid in full on completion. Had major problems with the engine and they have refused to correct or refund any monies. After numeous phone calls, emails and letters no response has ever been made.

Taking them to court. These guys have got to be shut down!!!!

NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!

NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!

They don’t even deserve the 1 star! They have provided the most appalling customer service & have still failed to fix my car. They were supposed to have replaced the engine after their rebuild failed & clearly never did as there are still the same issues that were there before plus never sent the new engine details to me to be sent onto the DVLA. They’ve now been aware that the car hasn’t been working since September this year (its been pretty much off the road though since they originally were supposed to have fixed it back in April/May of this year) & have promised to send a courtesy car every day & pick mine up & yet this still hasn’t happened!

Please don’t waste your time with them. As you will be able to see from Eric, Jim Beard and James’s reviews, they’ve had as bad an experience plus the company was taken off the AA recommended list in July after all the bad reviews. I am in total agreement too that Ash & Max are compulsive liars as they make endless broken promises & clearly have absolutely no competence either in running a company or fixing cars.

Do not under any circumstances use …

Do not under any circumstances use Midland Engineering . They are the worst Company I have ever dealt with in my life .
They collected my car from over 16 weeks ago , advising me that the engine rebuild would take approximately 5 days. After 10 weeks of lies and excuses they told me my car was ready for collection so I travelled down to Birmingham to collect . To cut a long story short the car was nowhere near ready with the dismantled engine in one garage and the shell of the car in another ! Naturally my reaction was not good and I requested that they buy my car from as I had no confidence whatsoever , in them ever being able to rebuild it . They agreed to buy the car from but I still not received a penny . Ashley , the guy who you have to deal with is a compulsive liar who has no conscience and I don't think he has apologised to me once . I have sent several emails to them and have not received one reply , only phone calls from Ashley . He promises he'll sort things out ,but has not done anything to help me. Until he sorts things out I am left without any transport .
Disgusting Company . Do not go near them!!!
Just an update. I posted this review 3 days ago and I have not had any written contact from them at all !
It is now over 5 months since my car was collected and I still have not resolved this situation . I am now forced to take legal action . Steer well clear !
Update : Ashley agreed to meet me last Friday to sort things out . Needless to say he didn’t turn up despite telling me he was only 12 miles away and would be with me in 30 minutes. When I called him his phone was switched off . Don’t how he manages to sleep at night !
Still nothing and I see the bad reviews are accumulating. Don’t think I’ll see my car ever again !
It is now 12th January , 2018 and I have still not received my car back . They are no longer responding to my calls or messages .
Avoid at all costs !!
Just another update . It’s now 22nd May , which is over a year since they took my car. Still nothing back .
It is now August 31st ,2018 and i have still not got my car back !

Complete joke

Complete joke, left with a nackered van and having to chase money back through small claims court.

DO NOT USE.

Made endless phone calls, emails, and sent a letter recorded delivery stating the issues with no reply. Completely useless, will be fighting this to the end.

My car broke down and AA recovered me to BMW main agent
Where a few days on they diagnosed timing chain failure and quoted me in excess of £8000!!! To fix the car.

I searched the internet and came across two or three companies which specialised in Bmw engines.

My car was collected the original engine was rebuilt .
My car was running this happened in May 2017 .
I am pleased to say My car is still running very well .

Thank you to max and ash at Midland Engineering for a good service.

Poor communication - car returned due to problems

My Focus estate 1.6 TDI Econetic developed a serious engine problem to the point where a rebuild/replacement was required.

Searched online looking for recon engine providers assessing collection options and overall cost.

The car was collected from agreed location (only parked there for 7 days) and taken to 'their' repair centre, work then commenced.
Paid a fee for the car to be delivered back to my home address after fitting of a new engine and also a replacement turbo
The returned car had several problems, the anti theft bonnet lock was jammed so that I could not get into the engine compartment, also the front driver side brakes were screeching (rubbing on the discs).

Asked the company to collect it and make the necessary amendments to restore the vehicle to its functional order.

Had to collect car, went to address on web site/invoice note. The car was not there, but in Birmingham, the person I spoke to claimed that he had told me this on the phone, however I have no recollection of this, even if so the company had both my email and mobile phone so they could have sent address confirmation.

Collected the car and the disc rubbing sound was still evident, the guys at the work shop jacked it up and removed a trapped metal shard between the pad and disc driver front side.

The most aggravating aspect of this episode was that I had be the one to make almost all the calls to find out what was happening, even after paying £2,000 for all the work done.

At the end of all this, the car drives but feels totally underpowered. Before the engine change, acceleration in 2nd,3rd was absolutely discernible. The car would comfortably and quickly rev upto ~4200 rpm without lag. Also previously you could get steady acceleration in 5th on a slight upward incline on a motorway. Now the unladen car struggles to rise a 1:9 hill in 4th.
The turbo used to be noticeable, coming in around 1,300 rpm and then dropping off at the 4100-4200 rpm level. The bandwidth range of rpm is less wide now.

Finally the air conditioning is now ineffective, it was charged only 9 months ago.

Taking it to a mechanic I know to perform an analysis to confirm the engine type and perform a diagnostics assessment. If it is the correct model of engine, it feels like the EMS mapping us utterly wrong.

Overall not a good experience and personally I would not be able to recommend this company.
