The MHFA Instructor course left me traumatised

The MHFA Instructor course left me traumatised which is ironic considering MHFA claim to be “mental health experts”.

MHFA, it’s trainers and RSPH are solo enterprises with little evidence of any joint working that would benefit learners.

In addition to this, the cost (£2,500 per person) is not value for money. The training material provided and research is out of date

The website booking system is misleading

The website booking is misleading. Any course booked via the site is with individual independent trainers, and MHFA do not take responsibility for anything that goes wrong, i.e. mistakes in booking. If something goes wrong you will need to get a refund from the individual trainer (if you can contact them), wait for the refund to be processed, and then re-book with a different trainer and pay again. You also cannot change training dates, in case of unforeseen circumstances unless it is the very same trainer delivering. Very cumbersome process if you are working for an organisation which requires raising invoices etc. The site needs more transparency. Let the buyer beware.

The MHFA England course was an incredibly valuable and eye-opening experience. The instructor from Tonic Music For Mental Health who delivered the course was very knowledgeable, approachable, and created a supportive online learning environment. Throughout the learning, I gained a deeper understanding of mental health and learned practical skills to support others in times of need. The course materials were informative and well-structured, covering a wide range of mental health topics. The interactive activities and group discussions enhanced learning because I was able to learn from other peoples perspectives and personal stories. Overall, the MHFA England course exceeded my expectations and equipped me with the confidence and tools to make a positive difference in the lives of those experiencing mental health challenges. I highly recommend this course to anyone and everyone but particularly those who are interested in promoting mental well-being and providing support to others in a wide variety of environments.

Praising Linda Jamson

Being due for requalification after 3 years, I did my course with the wonderful Linda Jamson / St John's Ambulance (by pure chance she had also been my coach for the classic First Aid At Work qualification years ago) and heard that I passed already the next day. Since 2020 the course has been updated in all aspects. Highly recommend!

I recently completed the MHFA mental health first aider course, the instructor was so informative, we were a small group but all had plenty of questions and chats, Colin did a great job of sharing his knowledge and ensuring we were all heard and understood. Its given me much more confidence to open up a conversation rather than shy away.
