Worst car ever
We bought an MG HS PHEV from Peterhead Arnold Clark December 24, another family member bought the MG ZS Hybrid+
The ZS had to be returned as it was so bad, MG & Arnold Clark refused to recognise the problems saying it was a characteristic of the car, so it had to be traded in at a huge loss after 4 months.
My MG HS PHEV has been back 5 times so far with problems and it is still not sorted, Arnold Clark say they do not have the means to update the software that is causing the problem,it was never mentioned when buying the car,my advise is keep well away from MG and Arnold Clark it’s a bad combination, 100%will never buy a car from Arnold Clark again MG or other

Went to Ipswich EMG Dealers Saturday 26/04/25 to order a MG ZS Hybrid. Glen Manley the sales man who helped me was an Angel, he put 110% in getting my car ready

Incompetence
On 25th April 2025, I booked my Car MG HS (2022) at Dees of Croydon, part of MG for servicing after 3 years and first MOT.
Tony, the technician of Dees of Croydon carried out the inspection on my car.
Tony identified a bulge on the rear tyre which required a new tyre.
The Service Department Team continued processing the MOT without informing me that I would require a new tyre.
Obviously my car failed it's first MOT and was registered on DVLA Website. Following this, The Service Department Team called me. They informed me that my car failed MOT and that I would require to change the tyre to a new one. I had to agree to pass the MOT.
I was not happy with Dees of Croydon in the way they carried the servicing and MOT on my car.
I spoke with The Service Department Team again including the Deputy Manager and the Manager Mr Byron Conner who informed me that he is well experienced, professional and covering several sites. He said that's the way they work.
Mr Byron Conner failed to understand that I brought my car in for servicing plus MOT. The servicing must have been done to ensure everything was in working order BEFORE my car is sent for an MOT.
Mr Byron Conner was arrogant. I informed him that I would put a complain. He said to me ‘You can put a complaint. That's what it is all about’. He did not acknowledge that they made a mistake or apologise for it.
The whole culture at Dees of Croydon is one of inconsideration. If people in managerial positions don't care, then the whole team will be the same.
Please think carefully before doing servicing or MOT at Dees of Croydon.
Chalk and Cheese customer service
Be to MG Hull & Scarborough with my wife and granddaughter who was looking for used nearly new car . Results from Auto-trade reviews 2 cars picked out both MG ZS 22/23 reg plate . So we booked appointment with Hull branch first to test drive. Arrived to fine the car not roadworthy and could not be used on public highway awaiting part . Why we were not told this before coming over some 20 miles + very poor customer service would score them 2 stars . So we booked test drive with MG Scarborough on different level all explain what the car all about shown modal test drive purchased overall experience excellent very friendly team great customer service
I would not even rate MG a star
I would not even rate MG a star. The car looks good and that's the catch. Android auto don't work, turns on and off when driving. My view this is a low usage car and when it breaks, MG will tell you the warranty doesn't cover the thing that has broken. Don't waste your time and money.

Went to MG Drive in Weston super mare in Somerset, wanted a look at the new MG S5 EV
They had one on the forecourt, no banners or anything to say it was MG’s newest car,
A sales person who we found to be a bit abrupt and not really interested in selling anything, unlocked the car, no offers of a test drive, when asked said well that’s all there is on offer, colours basic, no choice of interior, no panaramic roof, not available in uk although Europe has them,.
Very disappointed in the car, and VERY disappointed in the sales person, who just locked the car and walked away!!!

Steer clear of the MG4 Trophy EV long range. Seriously you can’t get a more bug ridden car or a worst service from the manufacturer or the dealerships. Some life threatening errors such as sat nav display goes blank, lane assist was swerving the car into oncoming traffic, random emergency stops the car suddenly decides to do and power steering suddenly goes.
All very frightening situations. No one cares or wants to know,
Didn’t get notified of any recalls.
Just paid a fortune for a service and they don’t even do the software upgrade to get rid of some of these bugs (trust me there’s.sooo many!!)
Pointless saying there’s a 7 year warranty when the garages don’t want to run the software upgrades as there’s no money in it for them! So won’t take any bookings for it until 2 months lead time!
Dreadful car and dreadful servicing options. Even when it was off road when it first arrived because of some of the errors had to get MG to ask one of their dealerships to actually update the software as the car had been sat in a field for a year before we were the unfortunate recipients!
Can’t wait til the lease is over with…

Don't buy this car. The electronics are not good. It switches off constantly in the middle of driving creating a major safety hazard. Mg says no fault found. I have videos as evidence, but they said they can't help. Another made in china product which has let us down. Apart from that the car has many features and is roomy. Pickup is also bad. You feel like you are just accelerating without power

I've only realised that I can write a review here and honest one too .I brought a brand new mg zs in march 2023 within the first 6monthes months the window wiper blades both make a horrible noise told brindley mg who said they only have 6 months warranty so I asked how much for a new set made in china were£26 I said no Iam not paying that as I can get a Bosch set for £23 with 12 months warranty so I did then I had the auto light sensor go changed then I had the descent down hill assist light on it was turned off then the I had the both on they I had a new brake light switch. Then my car would mot restart when I got home I turned the alarm off then it would not start called the AA they gave me a code and car was reflashed the software.then my digital dashboard went blank on both ends no speedo no rev counter or petrol heat hot or cold .carflashed again so I asked how much are the clocks if they went £500 I said how much £500. So I asked how much the headlights were £550each and rear lights £500 each so very costly so I emailed the mg customer service and told them I had 6 problems in less than 18 months I wa told don't worry it's got 7 years warranty .so i asked mg for a warranty leaflet to see what's covered hardly nothing wheel bearing 3 years shock absorbers 3 years most of the engine parts 3 years clutch 3 years headlights 2 years so what's got 7 years not a lot a few engine parts have 7 but majority it only have 3 sothe 7 year warranty they claim u have u don't so I emailed mg UK to ask why is there so little covered for 7 years when u say it's got 7 years .well I waited and waited and yes I had no reply mg u can keep Ur mg that u keep saying have 7 years and only two parts have 7 years .this is my clam you buy a cheap car now a brand new zs hybrid in the UK the basic one is £21,000 in china u can buy the same car for £12,000 it's on someone's tube think it's called Gerry pan .so u buy a cheap car for £21,000 and then 3/4 of the parts are only 3 years warranty then you go for new parts and then u find out Ur cheap car is more expensive to fix.than a Toyota and a BMW really yes it's so true so people who are thinking of buying a new mg or a second hand one dontas u will be paying mega money out the 7 years warranty is not worth the paper it's written on so keep Ur cheap and expensive repairs mg as I have no customer service at all and u are rude too such a shame otherwise they if u had the 7 years warranty they could be good bit nope stay away u will regret it

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at WLMG Eastcote MG and MG Motor UK’s lack of support in resolving an ongoing issue with my vehicle.
Fault & Dealership Handling
On 21st January 2025, my car was diagnosed by AA with a P0016 Crankshaft-Camshaft Correlation Error.
The dealership failed to identify the issue when I first took it in, stating "no fault found."
The warning light kept appearing intermittently, but the dealership insisted there was no problem.
Only after repeated complaints and a long wait did they replace the crankshaft sensor—but without confirming if the root cause was fully resolved.
Unacceptable Delays & Poor Customer Service
The dealership failed to provide proper updates. I had to chase them constantly, with phone calls and emails going unanswered.
MG Customer Service also ignored my emails, failing to support me despite knowing about the unresolved issue.
Due to their delays, I was left without a car, had to change my travel plans, and suffered unnecessary stress and inconvenience.
Even after the supposed fix, the engine warning light has returned again, proving the issue was never fully diagnosed or resolved.
Other Concerns with MG Service Quality
When my water tank was leaking, the dealership repaired it poorly, leaving water spilled all over the engine bay, which they did not clean up properly.
I had my MOT and service done at MG, yet my car passed despite the engine warning light appearing before. This raises serious safety concerns about their inspection process.
MG Needs to Take Responsibility
I expect MG Motor UK to:
1. Ensure the dealership properly diagnoses the issue, instead of temporary fixes.
2. Confirm if this is a wider technical fault affecting other MG vehicles.
3. Provide better customer service, including timely responses and accurate updates.
4. Offer courtesy cars when customers are left without a vehicle due to unresolved faults.
This situation has caused me stress, financial inconvenience, and major concerns about my and my family’s safety. I trusted MG with my vehicle, but the service has been extremely disappointing.
I urge MG Motor UK to step in and hold their dealership accountable. I do not want to go through this cycle again.
Would you recommend MG? – Not unless they improve their after-sales service
impossible to contact customer support
It's almost impossible to contact customer support. I have tried fre times and after being on hold for 30 mins, I gave up!!
When I did contact them few months ago, they were not helpful at all. All they are programmed to say is " take it to a MG dealer garage and they will investigate". I have low voltage warning for the key fob, even though the dealer has changed the battery to a new one. I have to pay a £150 investigation fee, even if they can't find a fault 😂
MG electrical faults
We have had electrical fault after fault on my mg Zs current it needs a new bcm control module as advised by the AA problem is that lights keep turning on and won't turn off, taken into Hammonds in Halesworth Suffolk and apparently there's nothing wrong with it! It's quite normal in mgs they won't even contact mg to ask if it can be changed still under warranty I think they're waiting until it is out if warranty - cheap cars not fit for purpose

Charge it to full 100% and it says 140 Miles but your lucky if it does anywhere near that,seems for every 10 miles you do you lose 14 miles !!
Had to charge twice for a 200 mile trip after starting with 100%
The build quality is poor and materials flimsy,the boot parcel shelf feels like its cardboard.
Reason they are cheap is because they are awful...this is a brand new one and im selling it at a loss to get a car with some real range.
This car gives EV a bad name and a reason to stick with petrol :(
MG4 ELECTRIC
I bought an MG4 2 years ago and it is the worst car I've ever owned.
Nothing on the car works well and there are issues with nearly everything.
1) The battery is terrible and cant cope with cold weather, it will restrict power and speed with an almost full battery when the temperature drops below zero making the car DANGEROUS to drive.
2) The safety features are an absolute joke and try to kill you, the LKA has a mind of its own and from time to time will turn you in to oncoming traffic or try to drive off the road!
3) The auto emergency braking is too reactive and slams the brakes on for almost no reason!
4) The car has creaked and rattled from new
5) The suspension is so loud that the car drones inside the cabin with every movement of the struts!
6) The gear selector regularly wont select drive or reveres resulting in 10-15 tries before it does what you want
7) The stereo is garbage and sounds pathetic
8) Range is also a joke and no matter how the car is driven so from a full charge i get 70-90 miles in winter and 120 - 140 in summer.
9) Its one of the fastest depreciating cars in the world and has lost 60% of its value in 2 years so dont ever get on on HP
I've complained about these issue to MG and they have dont nothing, they claim its normal and there is nothing wrong with it
If you need a new car, trust me on this one DO NOT BUY A CHINESE BUILT MG, YOU WILL LOSE A FORTUNE AND YOU WILL HAVE A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
Do not buy any car!
I had my MG HS for 3 years with no issues so purchased a M4. From the moment the car was supposed to be delivered but couldn’t be due to various warning lights, it has been a nightmare. Multiple warning lights, MG pilot failure, unable to put the Car in drive…. The car has been back 3 times and they were still not able to identify all the faults! Meanwhile the HS now has a complete failure of the media unit which controls all settings in the car. Hendy Crawley will not book the car in till MG confirm whether to replace the unit or send away and repair. Plus the lead time is a month leaving me with 0 cars to drive. MG confirm use of the unit is for comfort and being unable to control clearing your windscreen when driving does not make the car unsafe to drive. 😂
