Awesome job

In my situation Khan and his partner were absolutely amazing. I was dealing with a difficult situation and they took the time to take photos and a video of the delivery. They were very careful in packaging 6 items and labelling all packages. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone. Thank you Metropolitan Movers Ottawa.

Despite their website's claim that they…

Despite their website's claim that they are a reliable, efficient moving service, this move was neither of those things.

A move from a one bedroom apartment that only included 10-12 pieces of bulk furniture (and very few boxes as we had moved them all the day prior) took ten hours. TEN HOURS. We we quoted 3.5 hours for this job.

I cannot account for two of the workers for seven of the ten hours. They were no where to be found in the apartment unit or hallways where they let our furniture pile up in front of the elevator on our floor and on the main floor where anyone could have taken it. From the balcony in our unit we could see our kitchen table on the sidewalk outside of the truck, not inside it, for two hours.

I understand that there was some time spent wrapping a couple of items like dressers to ensure drawers wouldn't open during the move, or using blankets to cover TVs and mirrors, but this process should not have taken more than 45 minutes with the few items we had in our apartment. I believe the driver ended up resorting to busy work as he had no one to help him lift and carry furniture. At one point he covered a fabric box containing towels in seven layers of plastic wrap.

The workers were spoken to multiple times by the building manager about how long the process was taking because they held up the elevator for six hours.

We resorted to loading belongings in our wagon and walking them to our new apartment, which was a 15 min walk away. Every time I would return from this 30 min round trip, nothing has been done.

This is absolutely unacceptable when there is a three man crew that should constantly be in motion loading the truck. I believe their business model is to under quote and intentionally provide slow service to overcharge.

It would have cost less to discard our bedroom furniture and purchase it brand new rather than paying three times the quoted amount.

I did not receive an invoice and my credit card was charged $2400 without my authorization.

Horrible experience, lousy service

I spoke to someone called Ravi who gave me a quote on phone and promised to send me a quote by email which he didn't. Then after reminders, he finally sent me one after a week. Then he called back to review my charges and kept increasing the rates for everything.
Then someone called Arthur came on the call and raised prices further and mentioned that I would need 3 people instead of 2, even though I am moving from a 2 bed apartment to a smaller 2 bed apartment. He mentioned specifically that the third person would be required for packing my furniture. "You wouldn't want us to drag your mattress, would you?" were his exact words. Do you mean to say that the wrapped furniture would still be dragged?

Unprofessional service , never use this company

I was looking to receive a professional services from Metropolitan Movers .
I received very unpleasant experience .I received quotes to unload and load container with my belongings but the second quote was increased by $1000.I was trying to find out why my quote was increased and spoke to the manager Leon, He became angry and was screaming on me and very rudely advise me to go with other company.
It’s look like he owns the company and he doesn’t care about the company reputation and profit.
I would never use or recommend this company to anyone .

Birmingham, AL (Austin) Best Crew that there is!

If you want a reliable, on time, professional, go above and beyond crew, then call Austin with Metropolitan Mover. His awesome crew covers the Alabama area and will move from surrounding states back into Al as well. They did a move for me from Murfreesboro, TN yesterday to middle Alabama and when I say that they are the BEST, I sincerely mean that. They were right on time arriving, worked quickly, they never complained one time about anything, and they were very courteous and professional and went went way above and beyond the call of duty. They were Very reasonably priced compared to the other movers that I received pricing from. This was the smoothest move that I have ever had hands down. I know that this is hard to believe about a moving company, but it is true. I am not related or buddies with them either. I am a legit customer for life now and I HIGHLY recommend Autin with Metropolitan Movers out of Birmingham, AL. (205) 722-8257.

I’d give them a 0 rating if I could

I’d give them a 0 rating if I could. They switched the time on me. Then 2 of the 3 movers showed up wreaking of booze. The drunker one was singing and dancing all over the place. I didn’t have my flatscreen tv boxed up because I couldn’t do it on my own. The drunker one dropped it while wrapping it up in their blanket. I heard him drop it. When we were at the new house, the other drunk mover took my tv out of the box and unwrapped it, then placed it in the hallway and left it leaning against the wall. They did not set it up. And that was the end. I was left to set up my tv on my own. I’m very careful with belongings. I set it up and didn’t turn it on, even though I should have. I sat down to watch movies 2 nights later only to find out that my tv was broken. Bob Omran, the guy who runs the Regina chapter said “I don’t know why you’re crying and yelling my guys didn’t break anything”. After a bit he said he’d talk to his guys. I’m assuming they confessed to dropping it. Bob said he’d replace my tv. A few days go by and he said he was out of town. A few more days go by and then he said “I actually, when sent the picture to the company they won't approve it because the hit on the screen was not from drop off it looks like it got hit with something”. So now I’m out a tv because they won’t take responsibility for their mistake. The head office won’t respond. Bob is now ignoring me.

Cancelled a 3pm move at 4:45pm and didn't give any advance notice at all. I had spend an hour chasing them on the phone to even get that far and then their excuse was that I didn't call them quickly enough. They didn't even bother calling me.

No care taken whatsoever

Apt2B hired these guys to pick up a white sofa that I was returning to them. I spoke to metropolitan on the phone in advance twice and mentioned that the couch is white and to make sure they have blankets etc for protecting it since it needs to be returned in excellent condition. I was assured they are professional and know what they're doing.

Despite being told I'd be called about 30 minutes before they arrive, they showed up without warning and knocked loud on my door for 2 minutes while i scrambled to stop my work and go down to let them in. I showed the guy the couch and mentioned again that it's white so needs to be wrapped up or handled carefully and cant be laid on the floor or anything. His half-amused expression told me all I needed to know about how things would proceed.

Within moments I watched him place two of the white seat cushions on the dirty boulevard outside my apartment before loading them into the truck. A 2nd guy came up with him to help with the couch, and they had no blankets, no wrap, no supplies whatsoever. I reiterated that the couch would need to be returned in perfect condition and again I was told not to worry about it and that "any damage would be their responsibility". I pointed out that I just watched the cushions be placed in the filthy street and neither of them had any response to that.

They proceeded to try and squeeze the couch through the doorway after I told the first guy the legs would need to be removed first. Then they laid the couch down on its back on the dirty floor (no blanket), then they brace all its weight on it's corner to maneuver it through the hallway (undoubtedly marking up the white fabric) before eventually squeezing it down the stairs and sliding it into the truck. All with no protection.

Thankfully I documented everything and contacted Apt2B immediately. They were obviously just as irritated as I was, and thankful I documented everything. Since my refund relied on the condition of this return you better believe I wasn't letting these guys screw that up for me.

Worst company with worst management

Worst company with worst management. The biggest problem of this company is from top CEO to ground level employees don't care for customer satisfaction. They hire cheap movers in different cities to operate but don't take any responsibilities of the damages during move. There is no way to reach higher level except customer service to send your voice but even I somehow managed to get to contact their CEO and higher management, I understood the problem in lower level flowing from upper level management. Though CEO forwarded my complain to a higher level manager and he acted like he would solve my concern but after some days its same as lower level thing that you have to chase with your concern behind them and they just ignore you. Ultimately no customer has plenty of time like more than 6 months to chase behind them to get the compensation.

I would give probably 0 star not only because their movers bur their attitude for handling customers.

Refusal of Work on Moving Day

My recent move with Metropolitan Movers Oshawa detachment has not been successful. You will be risking complications if you book with this organization.

We hired them for our move last Saturday, November 5th. On the day of the move, the two laborers who arrived refused to move our elliptical and stackable washer and dryer for safety reasons. They stated it was a 3-4 person job.

I spoke with the booking agent twice prior to the day of the move to go over all details. We spoke in length regarding the elliptical and washer/dryer. I explained to them that the items were incredibly large. I did not have the weight, but instead described the size of these items and the environment they were located in. The booking agent suggested two movers for the day. I trusted this because only the company can know the limitations and capacity of what their movers can do. Their supposed to be the experts, no?

I've been trying to reach someone since the day of the move. We called them November 5th when the work was originally refused to see if we could get an additional laborer. I've been calling since then and have left multiple messages both with people and on their machine. I was never contacted by anyone.

Today, I managed to get someone on the phone. Communication with the staff at this organization is terrible. I am interrupted at every given moment with an excuse as to why this is somehow not their fault. The solution offered to me is to have 4 men come to move our two items for a discounted rate of $760.00 + tax. We've already paid the two movers on Saturday, November 5th a total of $796.65 tax in.

I've reached out to Two Men & A Truck, who quoted me $590.00 + tax for a truck and three men to do the same job.

Bee Ready Movers quoted me $700.00 for the same thing.

Metropolitan Movers is not acknowledging their mistake. Negotiations between myself and the company is heated and has completely degraded. I confronted them about their "discounted" (but really full price) quote, and am being told that I provided the wrong information regarding weight at the time of booking.

This is a straight up lie.

I know this because I literally have no information on how much the elliptical and washer/dryer actually weigh. This is why I went into great detail during booking as to the size and space the items are occupying.

I'm sure that after posting this review someone from the organization will reply back deflecting blame or providing more excuses. I wouldn't expect anything less at this point. But please know dear reader, they've been dishonest with me up to this point and have not made good on their commitment.

Metropolitan Movers Oshawa detachment are first and foremost dishonest and conniving. I highly suggest looking elsewhere.

What a hassle!

What a hassle! Poor communication with us, contacting us AFTER the end of a business day- to inform us they changed our move time from 9am to 1pm the day prior to moving!!! Absolutely refused to accommodate or assist us in any way shape or form, saying it's "impossible" to refund a deposit or discount the service.

They double booked their truck and employees at our move time, then told us we had no choice but to take the later time, as the other job was out of town (which worried us they would not finish in the 4 allotted hours, pushing our move time even FURTHER back, after we had taken the morning off work for said move).

The good news is they are very well practiced in politely informing you there is nothing they can do.

Worst moving experience ever

I hired Metropolitan Movers to both pack and move my house and I can honestly say this was the worst moving experience that I have ever had.
The Packing team arrived 2 hours late, broke things, forgot things and took 3 hours longer than estimated. They estimated 6 hours, but actually took 9 hours. I can accept a little overage, but even after 9 hours, there was much that was not packed.
Overall, I guess they weren't horrible, but for the amount of money I paid them, I guess I expected more.

The actual move itself, is a completely different story and to be honest, I'm still in shock at how horribly this went.
The 2-Truck / 4-Man crew were only 30 minutes late this time, so not as bad as the packing crew, but after that, we hit high speed going downhill....
It was a warm (not hot) day and about an hour into loading the first truck, one of the guys asked if I had any water. I would have assumed they would bring their own refreshments, but whatever....I said, sure, there is a case of bottled water in the refrigerator, help yourself. I didn't realize until much later, just how much they 'helped themselves'. Next to the water in the fridge was a case of beer and at least a dozen Smirinoff and other assorted Vodka coolers. Let's just say that by the end of the day, all of the coolers and about a dozen beer were "missing"... Much to my surprise, I found numerous empty and crushed beer and cooler cans littered all over the driveway at both the old and new houses as well as several crushed cans littered throughout the old house after everything (well....mostly everything) was removed. The crew being *drunk* may have something to do with how horribly the rest of the move went.

Originally estimated at 9 hours, the final tally was 15 hours, billed hourly of course. At the end of the day, there were numerous items damaged, broken or simply destroyed. To name just a few of the issues:
- 2 mattresses have huge holes torn in the bottom of them
- Large chair has a huge hole ripped in the bottom of it
- They claimed a Foosball table wouldn't fit down the stairs, I suggested they take the legs off Instead they put it in the back yard. It was completely destroyed when it rained later that night.
- They also put 2 powered leather recliners in the backyard. Also destroyed by the rain
- It looks like they stood in the doorway and simply heaved things into the garage and shed, as a result a number of items were crushed, torn, and/or broken.
- They packed the contents of the refrigerator and stand-up freezer in unmarked boxes early in the day and put them on the truck. Everything melted by the time it got to the new house and I found the boxes containing food and other frozen items. My freezer was definitely less full after the move than it was before, so I'm guessing that I will eventually find a box full of completely spoiled (no longer) frozen food somewhere in my basement as I unpack more boxes.
- The desk I've had for over 20 years looks like it was dropped onto the floor of the truck and shoved across a nail or something else which cut a huge groove into the surface, essentially ruining the desk.
- This is just a sample of the numerous items that were damaged

I called the company to complain and the "supervisor" I spoke with said that this was not possible as this was his 'best crew' and they would never do such things. He then tried to tell me that it was I who had told the crew to put the foosball table and leather furniture in the back yard instead of inside the house or garage. I laughed out loud at the stupidity of what he was trying to sell...
He told me to file a claim on their website seeing as they are supposed to be insured against damage. All in all, I estimate the damage/loss of my possessions to be approximately $7,000. And on top of that, I now have to pay someone to come and remove the furniture that was destroyed.

It's now been over a month since I filed my claim and I was told last week that they are still 'assessing' the claim and someone would get back to me. Obviously, I'm not holding my breath.

If there was a 0 star review

If there was a 0 star review, I’d leave that. The move started out seemingly okay but we got lectured for our packing (aka normal packing with miscellaneous items, that we specifically asked not to take) and are now left with 3 missing boxes that include expensive makeup, a slow cooker and vinyl records, and most importantly, photographs of my grandparents that passed away. The crew manager was unnecessarily aggressive. and can I just say in trying to follow up, reception was rude and unresponsive. These are memories that I’ve accumulated over years and can never get back. Oh and the best part, the crew manager decided to make a comment about how Ukraine and Russia are the same - thank you for saying that to a Ukrainian during a war time. In other words, never hire them!!

Terrible experience

I was sent trainees who had NO idea how to do their job. One mover had disgusting breath, they didn't have a dolly, they blatantly ignored my instructions, were extremely careless, damaged several items, left valuables unwrapped and unattended in a condo hallway and took 6.5 hours to do a 4 hour job! Shalin, the manager could care less and the woman I'd booked the move with and I had an argument about the above. She didn't' care either. I had to aggressively demand some kind of compensation for the time they took and they didn't even deduct a whole hour. Now, they are refusing to compensate me for the damages caused by their careless, inept staff, saying they have 3 DAY POLICY and I was too late, however, I pointed out the damage to all of the movers and told the woman I was arguing with, all about it. Now they aren't even responding to emails or texts. It's appalling how little they value their customers.

Rude, unprofessional and incompetent

I've used those clowns almost a year ago, but the experience was so awful it keeps hunting me. Liars, unprofessional, rude and utterly incompetent. Had me wait until midday for the movers because they had "forgotten" about our appointment. They came in a rental truck(!!!), with no runners, supplies or anything to help the move. Their "customer service" kept patronizing me and telling me that "Ottawa is cold". Completely ruined my move and almost my new home! If you care about your sanity, keep away from this company, worst people ever!

Love to be ripped off??? This is just the company!

I used this company to move to a storage unit 15 minutes away. 90% of all items were packed and in the garage for easy access into the truck. I was quoted 1 truck and 7-9 hours. I was billed for 12 hours with a second truck. When I complained to VLAD the Franchisee of Bowmanville, he was very rude. He kept lying and talking over me. When I asked for his last name, he refused and told me to look it up on a business card and when I asked for the customer service number he again refused and told me to google it if I wanted it. He also claimed that he was the owner of the entire company and when backed into a corner, finally admitted that he is in charge of ONLY the Bowmanville site. I wrote an email to the head office which I have yet to hear a reply from. Horrible company that takes their time and charges almost double the quote. Beware your quote will be completely wrong!! They have lost my repeat business. Also word of mouth in a small town goes a long long way. Hope it was worth it VLAD.
