I’m really disappointed with how this situation has been handled, and I feel I need to share my experience honestly and fairly.

Back in January, I saw a post from this company asking for people who would be willing to have a quilt made from clothing belonging to past relatives, free of charge, so they could practise and develop their skills. I thought this would be a really lovely opportunity, particularly because of the sentimental value of the clothing, so I contacted them and was accepted.

In February, I carefully sent the clothing and later emailed to make sure the items had arrived safely. I appreciate that there was an illness which meant it took some time for my message to be answered, and I completely understood that. I was also aware that paid work would understandably need to be prioritised, so I was more than happy to wait and had no issue with the length of time the quilt might take.

What I find difficult to understand is that, after waiting from February until the middle of September, the original clothing was simply returned to me with no explanation, no message and no apology.

I completely appreciate that circumstances can change and that perhaps the quilt could no longer be made. If I had simply been contacted and told that there was a problem, or that there was no longer enough time to complete the project, I would have understood. In fact, I would have been more than happy to discuss paying for the quilt to be made instead.

The clothing has enormous sentimental value to my family, and my elderly mother has been extremely excited and looking forward to receiving the finished quilt. To have waited all these months, only to have the clothing returned without any explanation, has been genuinely upsetting for her.

I am not leaving this review to be nasty or vindictive. I simply feel that communication is so important, particularly when you are dealing with somebody’s treasured family belongings. Had we been kept informed, the situation could have been handled completely differently.

I wish the business well, but I do feel that the way this was handled was disappointing and, from a customer’s perspective, unprofessional. A simple message explaining the situation would have made a huge difference.

Memories.by.melly is an amazing business, I cannot thank them enough. I ordered a bear for my graduation and I am so in love with the detail on the bear. For my graduation bear I wanted to add something extra, so I messaged Leah and she said she was able to add the extra details I wanted. Leah is very quick at responding and very friendly. What an absolutely beautiful weighted memory bear. I wanted my sons clothes to be used and not stored away, so I ordered. I was very nervous about sending his precious clothes to someone and wondering what could happen to them. I over messaged regarding my order, but always had replies back.

There was a mistake that happened and communication from the seller was excellent. This was resolved straight away.

My bear arrived and obviously the clothes have been looked after and the attention to detail is stunning. I would highly recommend and will definitely order again in the future. Thanks

Every thing from drop off to recieving my bears went well. When they came they was beautiful, more than what I expected. It was worth the wait. Than you, very much.

We had a memory bear made from our only son’s first Christmas outfits. We wanted something to put out every Christmas, to remind us of his very first special one! It is absolutely, unquestionably the most beautiful Christmas bear. It has completely exceeded anything we imagined. We did not care how long we had to wait as there was no rush for us. I can honestly say if Memories by Melly say it will take months, it’s certainly worth the wait.

The only problem now is I’ll be ordering one every year!
