They treat you like your just an application and not a real person with feelings

I booked a consultation to talk about the
UCAT, personal statements and all things to do with the medicine application process. First of all they were late to my appointment and all my queries were shut down immediately and not answered the only thing I was being told was about the UCAT and it was about buying their crash course and then I went on to ask them if I wouldn't be able to get into any universities with my GCSE grades given that they weren't all nines but they were still good and they told me immediately in a very derogative way that I wouldn't be able to apply to universities like UCL and imperial. This not only upset me but put off from using any of their resources as the appointment felt very rushed and insincere and I felt more like a box to be ticked on their to do list rather than a person and my feelings were hurt at this news that had been delivered very harshly with no regards to the emotions of the receiver which is surprising coming from a doctor.

Dear Isabel,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and I’m truly sorry to hear that you left your consultation feeling upset and unheard. That’s never the experience we want anyone to have, and I completely understand how frustrating that must have been for you.

I’ve looked into the consultation you had to better understand what happened. While the free session you booked is specifically designed for parents, our advisor still aimed to support your queries. The call began a few minutes late due to an overrun from a previous session, and I apologise for that delay.

During the conversation, your questions focused on where you should apply with your current GCSE results. Our advisor explained that we usually wait until a student has sat the UCAT to give specific advice on where to apply, as the UCAT score plays a key role in your university options.

You had then asked which universities would not accept you due to your GCSEs. Again, our advisor shared that we do need a UCAT score to give definitive advice on where to apply, but certain universities place a heavier emphasis on GCSEs, so lower grades can make acceptance less likely. This was never intended to discourage you or diminish your achievements, but was for the purposes of sharing information as your primary query was regarding university choices.

We absolutely understand that this process is stressful and personal, and we always aim to offer respectful and supportive advice. We wouldn’t encourage our students to apply somewhere that’s unlikely to accept their qualifications, and specifically when the question is being asked about where not to apply, we try our best to be honest about your options.

For clarity, no paid services were discussed during the call, and we later sent you information about our UCAT resources, including a bursary application should you wish to access our support services. You're also welcome to access our free strategic applications guide here (downloadable file): https://medichut.com/strategic-applications/

We’ve reached out a few times and would still be happy to continue the conversation or answer any further questions you may have. I really do wish you all the best in your application journey, and we’re here if you decide you'd like any further support.

Warm regards,
Dr. Malik

OSCE UoM practice

I signed up for the OSCE practice for the university of Manchester, it was very informative. We were given tips on communication and respiratory examinations. We then had an ECG interpretation sessions that helped clear up my preconceptions on ECGs. We also had an anatomy session and a mock osce which was informative.

As an aspiring medic in Y12, these webinars have been useful for getting an insight into what the UCAT is about and how to prepare for it. Presenter, Kam was great at teaching the different sections, in particular the STJ section, and explained how to get to the answers clearly. Thank you to medichut for hosting these sessions! :)

Kams session

Kam is a professional and cooperative mentor, he constantly checks the chat for any potential questions that were sent. His strategies are so helpful, making me feel at ease for my UCAT. He has levelled up my confidence for the UCAT as I was quite unsure before entering the session with him.
I’ve only been on one session and I have found it so useful, I’d appreciate having more!
Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it.

UCAT Strategies Webinars with Kam

MedicHut held 4-week free UCAT Strategies webinars and we were taught mainly by Kam who was extremely helpful with everything he taught us. I've never fully understood those strategies but after the sessions with him, I got a whole ton better of understanding and I can't thank him enough! He made sure we all understood every aspect thoroughly and was very interactive, friendly and interesting throughout.
