SCAMMERS !!!

SCAMMERS !!!! On March 21, 2024 I signed up with MealPal, same day I was charged $2.17 for membership/subscription. I never placed an order/reservation with MealPal. Today my bank shows charge as “ATM Debit MealPal $71.86” I called my bank to dispute it. I’ll never use this service.

Terrible experience. Bad company.

Terrible. Buyer beware. My credits I paid for were cancelled and I was never notified by email. Read the other reviews, it has happened to sooo many other people. They are just a middle man if you have a restaurant you like just approach them directly to get a bulk discount. Mealpal adds nothing of value you cant do yourself. Very little selection now meals are small. Very bad morals this company has, STAY AWAY!

Wonderful customer service

While the app is definitely not my favorite, the customer service for MealPal is wonderful. I didn't realize I was going to be charged for a meal plan so soon after redeeming my free meal, so I called them and asked for a refund, as I had no intentions of buying a plan. They immediately canceled my account and issued my refund! They were very understanding and kind.

Scam

Service is quite bad, less and less restaurants participate and customer service is bad. They also cancel all your unused meals you technically paid for as soon as you skip or cancel one cycle of subscription. Wouldn't make any exceptions even for a long term customer. I do not recommend.

Review from a Long-Time User

As someone who's used MealPal for several years, I've seen a change in value. Previously, lunch options often came under $7, making it a budget-friendly choice. However, they have introduced a complex credits-based scheme with hidden expiry terms. The savings are negligible once you factor in the deceptive tactics. When I did the math, I would have been better off purchasing lunch directly from the restaurants.

Alternatively, seek out individual restaurant loyalty programs and opt in to their loyalty benefits instead. There is no risk, and you'll save more.

Hi Matt, we truly thank you for sharing your feedback with us and we appreciate your loyalty over the years.

We apologize for any confusion regarding our change from meal-based to credit-based plans and the perceived lack of savings. You should be saving at least 20% per meal with MealPal, and in many cases MUCH more. Please keep in mind that restaurant prices have gone up significantly over the past few years, making MealPal's value even greater for most.

We'd love to pull the data on your account and share with you details on your effective MealPal price versus the retail price. Please email us at hello@mealpal.com so we can provide this data.

We hope to hear from you soon!

DEPLORABLE COMPANY WITH NO MORALS

This company is deplorable and have no remorse, nor morals. I was out of the office due to bereavement of my mother who passed for about 2 weeks. I had so many credits leftover because of my time out of the office and requested for them to be rolled over without having to pay for a new subscription. They told me with no empathy that they cannot make an exception and change their policies under any circumstances. Cold hearted company right here that seems to be scamming a lot of people. Not worth it, especially because they lost a lot of partners so the selections suck.

Scam pricing policy

Scam pricing policy. I deleted my account during the Pandemic, and found from a CC alert that they had started billing me an annual subscription fee recently. When I requested a refund, they refused citing that I’d agreed to the subscription. One: I never agreed to an annual fee. Two: I canceled during the pandemic (I, like every commuter, was no longer in the city). Three: the account they claimed I subscribed (and presumably confirmed) through had been deactivated for months because I had changed jobs. It’s a complete scam. If others have had this experience please pursue with the BBB as they will investigate a systemic issue if it’s warranted.

Scam you into signing up for ineligble promotions

Wasn't aware that I wasnt able to sign up for a targeted promotion if I had another account with them. Instead of cancelling/refunding my duplicate account, they charged me the full amount and refuse to refund me the promotional amount.

Had to dispute through my credit card company to get the promotional amount back

AVOID SIGNING IN. THEY WILL SCAM YOU

I signed up for a promotion using my husband's credit card, and everything seemed fine on the first day. However, on the second day when I attempted to redeem the offer, the app stopped working, and they removed the promotion. Instead, they tried to charge me the full amount since my husband was already enrolled. To make matters worse, when I decided to cancel the subscription, they not only charged a cancellation fee but also billed me for the food I hadn't even received. The restaurant food portions are disappointingly small compared to the full price. I strongly recommend against signing up for this promotion, as it's not worth the trouble and expense

DO NOT trust Meal Pal subscription

DO NOT trust Meal Pal subscription. They will take your money and tie customer into a rigid subscription policy with no refunds if the service is not appropriate. My experience has been worse. I had to file disputes with my bank to get the money back.

A complete scam, impossible to cancel

Don't fall for the intro offer, it is almost impossible to cancel afterwards, I was scheduling food in advance and it charged me when I ran out of credits, as a result i lost over 20 unused credits. Customer service was not helpful and was pretty rude, good thing I used an empty prepaid creditcard after signing up so ot couldnt charge me further. Sucks that i still lost my unuused credits though. Even normally it is impossible to cancel. Very scummy practices, if you read other reviews, many users got charged for hundreds unknowingly. They do it on purpose to milk as much money out of u as possible similar to cable companies

Change policies without telling you

Change policies without telling you. Your cycles include weekends even though that is not a day where you can actually purchase a meal. No longer can put an active subscription on hold even if you are going away for a two-week vacation!

Not worth the trouble, they are a bit of a scam

This business is a scam

This business is a scam. I did a trial in 2019. Once this year i clicked on an email to see what restaurants they have in Denver - they literally have 1. At some point they started charging my 2019 credit card. I realized after 3 months since they never sent an email saying I signed up. Refuse to give me my money back .

You’ll never escape your new pals

I haven’t used MealPal since 2018. Something has changed about their marketing strategy recently, as for the past several weeks, I’ve received marketing messages from no fewer than 15 separate email aliases and phone numbers trying to get me to sign up again. At first, I just updated my preferences to unsubscribe from email and text. No problem. But then, they’ve just been communicating through new emails and phones numbers. Each time I unsubscribe (or recently, mark as spam), a day or two goes by, I get a message from a new contact.

Given the slate of negative reviews, just know that in addition to potentially overcharging you, if you sign up for the service (or even their newsletter), there’s a good chance you’ll never be able to escape your new pals at MealPal.

And before someone from MealPal asks me to send them an email to fix this issue, as someone who has done email marketing, just fix it yourselves. You know you’re violating CAN-SPAM. Just stop doing it.

FRAUD. SCAM.

They have been charging my card $96 every month for the last 6 months without me knowing. I cancelled my subscription and it resumed on its own. Thats fine - if there maybe a glitch but here's whats freaky!!

1) My credit card number change in November (4 months ago). They have my old card on file but somehow the charges are showing up on my new car.

2) They charged me twice in one month ($96 twice!)

3) when I go through my startements, these charges dont show up. I had to search "mealpal" in my search box. So freaky!
