Excellent experience

Excellent service from Alan and Pat, faultless. Extremely helpful and informative, all in all a very smooth and friendly customer experience.
As a landlord it is important to trust the decisions taken by your letting company in sourcing tenants and I am extremely happy with the timely and professional manner in which this was handled.

Shocked Landlord

Shocked Landlord

Mavor advocated for a clearly unsuitable applicant as opposed to carrying out proper vetting. After fourteen months of unpaid rent, I discovered that the tenant's application form contained several unsettling entries. If I'd seen these at the time I would have asked questions about the applicant's ability to abide by a tenancy agreement, however Mavor & Co maintain such serious anomalies are completely irrelevant. They did not question the applicant or inform me. There was also an excellent, five star tenant reference - from a PARENT. They emailed me that the references had checked out "fine". They did not consider securing a guarantor. As of July 2024 they argued that tenant references from parents are acceptable. Mavor & Co put me in breach of regulations, making me vulnerable to complaints and fines and comprmising the tenant’s safety. The deposit was submitted late; the Prescribed Information was not delivered (Callum wasn't sure what that was) and there was a week without a gas safety certificate, all of which they didn't seem to notice. They were so resistant to providing information, such as inspection reports or copies of safety certificates, that early visible breaches of the TA were missed, and, when they failed to have the portable appliances tested, it was over a year before I suspected they hadn't obtained the required PAT certificate for old appliances. They had assured me it was done. The following year's PAT was very overdue and repeatedly delayed without explanation. Emails revealed that their understanding of my, and their, obligations was incorrect. I had to complain on an explicitly formal basis to get acknowledgement that they had never obtained a PAT certificate as instructed. There was no explanation for not adequately attending to many requests for a copy. It took five long months for Mavor & Co to apply to the FTT for access. Many clauses of the Letting Agent Code of Practice had been breached. In the absence of remorse I reported these failings to the FTT. Immediately before I was to present the evidence to the court, Ms Mavor reluctantly agreed to provide compensation of a fraction of what I lost. She explained it was to end the stress for her manager.

Highly recommend.

Absolutely delighted with the work done for us by the Mavor & Co team in general, although Callum was our main point of contact. They are reassuringly professional, knowledgeable and reliable, kept us fully informed throughout the sale process and responded promptly via email to all questions/requests. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I have been dealing with Mavor's for…

I have been dealing with Mavors for more than 15 years now. Assisting me with the letting of my flat and recently the sale. There were a few hiccups with the sale but Callum was always there, at the end of the phone to answer my queries and keep me right. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I would highly recommend Callum and the team if you are looking for a personal, speedy and efficient service!

Great service, lovely staff

Callum McQueenie, Senior Property Manager, handled the sale of my Mum's house. Couldn't have asked for better service from start to finish. Callum kept me informed at every stage, communication was clear, prompt and courteous, with a caring approach. Nothing was too much trouble. Every question answered. Speedy process from initial query to completion of sale, very happy with the result. Would highly recommend.

Fabulous

Fabulous! Mavor & Co managed my property for over 15 years and provided a stella service. Furthermore they recently sold a property for me that went through from beginning to end under 5 weeks. Highly recommended as property managers and real estate agents.

Great service as always

Great service as always.
Had a tenant give notice and Mavor had the property marketed within a week.
We had a tenant ready to move in as soon as our previous tenant was existing so no down time at all in the property.
Would highly recommend Mavor and a special mention to Sarah who is always so quick at responding and actioning anything needed.

Our current clients moved out on the 18…

Our current clients moved out on the 18 July , Allanah already had prospective tenants ( 11 in total ) lined up to view our property on 19 July . Six wanted the property, Allanah got this down to a short list for me to choose with all the facts . Got various bits and pieces of work carried out from different contractors and still had the new clients in my property for 12 August.
Absolute first class service from Allanah supported by the Mavor team .

A company you can trust

As a landlord for many years, I can definitely recommend Mavor & Co. Callum, Pat and their team do an honest job of looking after your property. They have a straight forward approach to business by using trusted tradesmen for repairs(no extra margin built in), transparent pricing structure and always open to constructive feedback.

Been using MAVOR for nearly a year

Been using MAVOR for nearly a year, so far we have been extremely pleased with service, we were with our previous management company for many years, this was a serious move on our part.
So far all has gone to plan, very efficient, Allanah and Callum are very pleasant easy to deal with.
Being local is also a big bonus.

Mavor & Co have been looking after my…

Mavor & Co have been looking after my property for a number of years now. I have just had new tenants move in and the whole service was excellent. All went very smoothly and any questions and problems were sorted out very professionally. Sarah handled the new tenants and along with Callum were a pleasure to work with. Very much recommend them.

Avoid!

We recently viewed a flat to rent with Mavor and Co and their service has been appalling from start to finish. Several important details on their website were incorrect, for example the website specified that the flat came with private parking, however this turned out to be incorrect. The letting agent was extremely unprepared for the flat viewing we attended and couldn't answer any of our basic questions regarding the flat. Once we had applied for the flat, they called to advise us that we had been successful in securing the flat. However, they then phoned back 5 mins later to tell us they had made a mistake and the flat had actually been given to another couple! Cannot believe the unprofessionalism and lack of organisation within this company - avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

I am sorry to hear about your recent experience whilst viewing and applying for one of our property’s.

Customer service is something that we take seriously at Mavor & Company and we are constantly reviewing the way we provide property services to both Tenants, prospective or current, as well as our Landlords.

I have investigated your comments further and spoken with the Property Manager who conducted the viewing at the property.

To give you some background on this specific property. We provide a ‘Let Only’ service to the Landlord meaning that we may not be able to answer any questions or queries immediately in comparison to our ‘Fully Managed’ properties. I believe some of the queries you had regarding the property was about designated parking spaces as well as if factor fees were to be paid by the Tenant. My colleague wished to check and confirm these with the property owner before providing definite answers to yourself. I believe my colleague responded with answers to these queries the same afternoon you viewed the property.

With regards to the error in confirming your application had been successful, I believe this stemmed from a phone call to our office from yourself, where it was during this phone call, we advised you had secured the property. This was an error in our end and my colleague apologised profusely for the mistaken identity when you had called for an update on your application. We completely accept this was an error on our end and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I completely understand your frustration with regards to this and from believing you had secured a property to being informed this was incorrect. I have discussed the process further with all staff members to avoid this happening again in future.

Sarah has been very helpfull dealing…

Sarah has been very helpfull dealing with old tenants moving out and arranging a new tennant. I have been well informed throughout the process of recovered monies from the deposit to cover various points when the old tenant left. Ive also been been well informed about any minor maintenance issues that needed resolved before the new tenant moves in. Great service and an all round plesure to talk to giving frank and straight forward advise.
