First ever order with Materials market…

First ever order with Materials market what a joke! What is the point in putting a delivery date in when this can not be done? Chased on multiple days for updates all you get is matching with supplier. After over a week late the order finally arrived. Communication and realistic time scales should be communicated.

I completely understand your frustration that the delivery date you selected was not met, that you had to repeatedly chase for updates, and that your order ultimately arrived over a week later than expected. Whilst, as a marketplace, it can sometimes take longer than anticipated to match an order to a supplier, you should always be kept fully informed of progress and provided with realistic timescales.

I am pleased that your order did eventually arrive, but I appreciate that this does not make up for the delays and lack of communication you experienced.

I'm pleased to hear that the order itself went smoothly, but I'm very sorry that we were too slow in responding to your request to add an additional item. I completely understand your frustration that you were unable to get the assistance you needed through our phone line or chat service.

I have looked into this and can see that while we were checking stock availability for the additional item, your order was delivered two days earlier than scheduled by the supplier, without prior notification to us. By the time we responded, it was therefore no longer possible to amend the order.

Whilst we're pleased your order arrived ahead of schedule, we appreciate that this was unhelpful in these circumstances and that our response should have been much quicker.

Delivery arrived on the promised day

Delivery arrived on the promised day, but the delivery window of 7am–4pm meant I had to stay home and wait all day. Better communication and an estimated arrival time would greatly improve the service. A simple text message before delivery would make a big difference.

As discussed, Materials Market works with a nationwide network of suppliers, each of which has their own delivery processes and methods of contacting customers. Whilst we are unable to provide delivery ETAs on their behalf, once your delivery has been confirmed for the following day, you will receive a notification with the supplier details, allowing you to contact them directly for a more accurate estimate of when your delivery will arrive.

The Good,the Bad and the Worse.

It really does seem to be an experience of it goes well then the service is great, if it goes bad the service is non existent and extremely frustrating.
Having placed some other orders with MM they have typically turned up roughly within normal expected lead time 2-3 days within a week at most. However the latest order I have placed has been and still is a disaster... Order was placed on the 4th June, for insulation and plasterboard, now the 18th June and still no confirmed delivery date. Money taken from my account without goods arriving which is both dishonest and contradictory to what the website claims "no money taken until delivery confirmation". Having trying to contact by chat and e-mail, this is still not resolved.
I now have a job on hold and tradespeople waiting and rescheduling jobs, this is both costly in time and cost to rehire new tradepeople.
For a company suppling into the construction industry, there seems to be little effort made to put things right quickly and meet customer delivery expectations.
Whilst I can accept things can go wrong from time to time, the lack of communication and urgency to resolve is not acceptable.
As the money has already been taken, I am wary of cancelling the order and having all kinds of problems retrieving the money.
Shame, as before the deliveries were good but this really has been an extremely negative and is still ongoing.

Whilst orders can sometimes take longer than we would like to fulfil, you should always be kept fully informed of progress and contacted directly when there are delays, rather than relying solely on automated updates. You should also be given the opportunity to decide whether you wish to proceed based on the revised timescales.

*EDITED - PLEASE READ* ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I ordered chipboard from Material Market and it was due to arrive on Tuesday. It is now Thursday with no update or response. I tried ringing - answer phone. Online chat - "we have flagged up your order". The website states that they would 'be in contact within a few hours', I have contacted them multiple times with no avail over the last couple of days. I will never use this company again. I work full time, and can't just 'wait for a delivery'! WHERE IS MY CHIPBOARD? If there was going to be a delay, I'd atleast appreciate an update!

**EDIT**: I have since been contacted by Materials Market and this problem has now been rectified. Jo has been absolutely spectacular in her efforts to chase up my order, which was actually an issue with the external supplier. I cannot thank her enough for her efforts and for getting my order processed and delivered in such a short space of time. I have also received an email from the co-founder and chief operating officer of Materials Market in regards to my order and delays in response, and that they will be investigating internally regarding their follow-up processes. I really hope that they succeed in this as they have gone above and beyond to rectify the errors of my order. Thank you again to Jo, and to Andrew. Review changed to 4 stars.

Ordered timbers for roof

Ordered timbers for roof. 12 timbers arrived wrong. Contact Material market customer service, they promise will be timber exchange next week which is really not acceptable already. Any way already 10 days past and still waiting my timbers to finish my roof. So far nothing happened and no clear answer when I will get my order. Instead of my timbers ant the moment rubbish wood in front of my house door.

Firstly that the wrong timbers were delivered to you and then that it has taken so long to resolve the issue. I completely agree that waiting over 10 days for replacement materials, particularly when you are unable to complete work on your roof, is simply not acceptable.

Quick delivery

Quick delivery, arrived on time & in good order. I was kept updated throughout. Price was excellent & staff have excellent telephone manner.

Awful company

Awful company, ordered last week they took the money said delivery today. Had no contact and can't get hold of them 5 mins before it was due it said delivery Friday now IF THEY SHOW UP! Impossible to contact! And as told won't be charged until delivered but I've already been charged!
