I studied at Mate academy full-time. The learning process was well organized: clear schedule, regular meetings with mentors, and a friendly attitude. The mentors really cared and wanted me to gain strong QA skills, not just finish the course. As a result, I got my first job offer only two weeks after I started looking for a job, even though I had no technical education or previous IT experience. I came to Mate Academy with a non-typical background — before studying here, I was a conservatory student majoring in opera singing. Due to health issues and realizing that this career wouldn’t allow me to financially support a family long-term, I decided to change my path and return to IT, which I had some prior experience with.

I chose Mate academy based on recommendations from relatives, the learning format, strong employment support, and the option to pay after getting a job. My main concern was whether it was realistic to learn so much in such a short time, but the clear structure of the program and constant support from the team addressed that completely.

The program is very intensive and practice-oriented: well-structured materials, hands-on projects, code reviews, and mentors who are always available. It does get exhausting toward the end, but that’s expected given the intensity. The only thing I would improve is having more team projects.

After finishing the program, I received an offer for a Technical Support position after about two weeks of active job searching (around 1.5 months total of active search time), partly thanks to the partnership team who recommended me. Mate Academy also provided real help with CV preparation, interviews, and job searching.

I studied at Mate Academy for 3 months as a QA engineer, full-time. It was an amazing experience! The communication and guidance were on high level. The mentors always help when it comes to some hard tasks, but also engage you to learn by yourself. The platform is convenient to use. All modules and blocks are divided and separate, which allows you to optimise studying, use the platform fast and improve your learning process.

I`ve finished my DevOps course here, and now I`ve got a job. The course was clear and actual, focused on learning by doing. They add new modules and continuously update existing modules. You will always have help from mentors and up-to-date, relevant knowledge.

I had a very negative experience with Mate Academy. I don’t like their attitude towards students. There is no direct dialogue with the mentor, which makes it very difficult to study. My tasks are not accepted, but there is no explanation why, what exactly is wrong, or how to fix it. Sometimes I can't even open links to see what the task is or how to communicate with the mentor. It feels like their main goal is to take money from students, and then everything depends on their mood.

It is the most supportive and nurturing place to gain new skills in IT.

TL;DR: I would recommend studying here.
- The course program gives you a structured and quite intense hard skills training.
- Regular mock interviews, syncs with coordinators and communication with other students will get you the soft ones, too.
- There are pretty good English classes, if you need them.

As for my experience.
Mate team(coach, coordinators, mentors) went above and beyond to support the students.
This included genuinely sharing their experience, and often exceeding their formal job responsibilities: providing support even on weekends, investing a lot of time and effort to build sample projects and tasks for us to learn from, going forward with initiatives to include relevant tech or some additional learning activities into the course and many more little and not-so-little things.

Oh, and something that stands out the most for me: team projects(like building web apps with your fellow students). They really help in the interviews, as you will certainly have a lot to talk about regarding teamwork experience.

Also, Mate does all possible to get you employed. No one said landing a job with about 4 months of "close to commercial" experience in a profession is easy. And it is not, by any means. But the support is there, you are never alone.

I completed the Python course at the end of November 2024.

One thing that really impressed me — and often goes unnoticed — is how regularly the learning materials are updated. They don’t just keep up with modern technologies but also align closely with current job market demands. You definitely won’t find a lecturer presenting slides titled “Kyiv 2016” here.

The mentors are highly engaged and supportive. Tech checks effectively prepare you for real interviews — I’m especially grateful for that. The four months flew by, but they became one of the most productive periods in my life, filled with daily exercises, touch typing, English lessons, constant tech checks, and deep error analysis.

I want to highlight the English lessons separately. This was one of the biggest surprises at Mate. I had heard about their courses but didn’t expect the English program to be at such a high level. There are no situations where ten students wait 15 minutes each for their turn to speak. The classes are much more dynamic, and the teachers are amazing — full of energy and making every session engaging. I’ve tried four different English courses over the years — both at work and in paid schools — but Mate is the first place where I felt real progress.

Overall, I’m really glad I chose this academy. It’s even hard to find any downsides. If I had to point out something, I’d say that during the second or third month, I would’ve liked to focus more on my chosen path (Data Analyst — there wasn’t a dedicated course for it at that time). But on the flip side, trying new things helps you discover what you truly enjoy. And here, there’s plenty to explore! Either way, they guide you through the final stages and give you a strong boost, making your chances of not landing a job close to zero.

I took the full-stack developer course (that's free till employment). It was difficult and always challenging, but I'm proud I made it to the end.

The course is well-structured, bite-sized, and built in a way that allows students to learn theory and practice it. In addition, I had constant attention, guidance, and support from mentors and curators, which helped me stay motivated not to leave the road. I received great support during employment as well.

The only minus is a fast-paced process (it took only 5 months) and we grasped A LOT, but after completing the course I still have access to the platform and can re-learn anything I need. Or one can buy a flex course and get more time (with the same results).

If someone doesn't know where to start, doesn't have mentors, or the opportunity to work on a real project, this is the best place to start a career in IT. There are lots of practical tasks, the mentors on the platform are always there to help, explain, and conduct code reviews. They teach everything that is needed, and even more. I recommend it!
