Awful company

Awful company - if you have a dog beware! They go out of their way to find something wrong inside the car and then try to charge you extra when returning. I refused to pay this time (as it was 2nd time it had happened) and the rude man at the desk told me I would not be allowed on the courtesy bus to the airport! Unbelievable, after paying for 3 weeks car rental, we were left at the side of the road with 2 small dogs, a baby and luggage. Will never use them again. Beware

Sadly my suspicions about thise Malaga…

Sadly my suspicions about thise Malaga car hire company's cheaper price were proven right.
On arrival the 'basic price' did not include a 80 Euro fuel charge (this implies our Renault Grand Scenic had a 70 litre plus fuel tank- it doesn't) and a 40 Euro 'arrangement fee'. As the Marbesol employee stated if you upgrade to a much higher level (and price) these disappear! We stuck with the 'basic price' but she pointed out that we'd be liable for any damage and that it would be our responsibility to check the car before driving off. In the dim of a late evening garage I undertook the assessment of the vehicle's accumulation of dents and scratches over it's 46,000 kilometre life. (Yes, that's almost 35,000 miles.) I'm a mere mortal I found an additional 8 issues which were not recorded by Marbesol.**
Our return 6 days later saw a Marbesol employee with an inspection lamp fine-tooth combing the vehicle and surprise our vehicle was littered with additional scratches and bumps that would cost xxx euros to the customer.(It hadn't by the way. The car and my driving were perfect.) I stated that this was 1. a further example of 'up-billing and 2. How was it that the vehicle had bumps and scratches prior to our booking. If the previous customer had been billed those imperfections should have been repaired unless, of course, Marbesol was simply pocketing the money. The employee then refused to speak to me when I pointed out that I was a client, not a car engineer and to expect their clients to undertake a professional level of assessment of a given vehicle was clearly a scam.
I was then forwarded to the duty manager. I argued my case ( another 20 minutes) To his credit ( you see I am being fair) he decided not to pursue the additional 'charges'. By the way I'm not money-grabbing. I have car hire excess insurance but I could not allow such a transparent rip-off operation to be unchallenged.

Fuel policy ripoff

Fuel policy ripoff. If you pick the basic option they force you to pay 130 EUR for the fuel to return it empty or upgrade (for 230 eur) to the fully insured option. Total lack of transparency in pricing and rude behaviour from staff.

Evil compagnie: avoid!

When I picked up te Marbisol tried to sell me a insurance (the well known story of Marbisol). The amount of the insurance was more then the rent I paid voor 2 weeks. 2 Marbesol employees tried more than 20 minutes to sell me the insurance: I refused because I already had an assurance (not via Marbeso)l. Marbesol gave up en said: You are gonna regret this. Strange I thougt at that moment because I rent cars for years (not via Marbesol) and I had never need an insurance or had never deal with damage)
After that I went to the car with an rapport on which 10 known damages were signed. Marbesol asked me to check for unknown damages (= little scratches). I count 20 new damages which were not in the damagerapport when picking the car!
But when I brougth back the car I understand what Marbesol with "You are gonna regret this". The Marbesolemployee which did the checkout easily find 4 new damages (not bigger than a little dot): she walked directly to a point under the car, lied down on the floor and find an invisible damagedot. The ohter new damages where also suspected if they where new, or not noticed with te precheck (which can be the case when there are 30 damagepoints!), or even caused by the employee itself: I was not allowed tot do the postcheck together with the employee, it looked like she had a kind of laserpen with her which she was using by the damagepoint. The result of the postcheck was discussed later.
I had to pay the 4 damagepoints: each one 140, in total 560 euro!. I refused to pay that amount, but then Marbesol did not pay back the 1000,- deposit.
I never had an experience like this with a carrental company, it is really an evil company and an shame for the image of the Spanish carrental business.

DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THE THIEVES AT MARBESOL !!

I booked a Marbesol hire car through the Do You Spain website. It was very cheap admittedly.

On arrival at the depot the aggressive assistant tried to get me to pay extra for a €170 insurance policy. When I declined, he persisted to try to persuade me, reducing the price to €99. When I said that I still did not want extra insurance he was clearly frustrated and wrote “No Cover” on the Car Hire Agreement saying “This is SPAIN, the car WILL be damaged”.

I checked the car thoroughly before driving it away. I took photos and recorded a video of tll the damaged areas. I hired the car for a week and drove and parked the car very carefully. I even paid for private underground parking at my hotel to keep it off the streets. I walked around the car every couple of days to check that it had not been damaged.

On returning the car to Marbesol I parked it where the original assistant instructed me to. As he told us to get our luggage from the boot of the car he started looking around the car. He called me over and pointed to a small mark on the front spoiler saying that it was new damage. I checked my photos and video but had no record of that area of the car. The mark was so small that I probably missed it (if it was there at all), as I recorded only anything more than very light scratches or marks. The assistant took a photo of the “new damage” and asked me to talk to the manager. I was then told that that they were going to keep €140 of my €1000 deposit. I protested but they ignored me and said that I had to pay for the “new damage". I explained that I was not responsible for that damage but they did not care.

I think that unless you pay significantly more money for THEIR insurance they WILL find a scratch or mark, however small, when you return the vehicle and try to charge you (the cars I saw were all scratched everywhere so they WILL find a tiny scratch somewhere and say that it was not on the original form you signed when collecting the car. So you either pay up first for additional cover or you WILL pay on your return.

In my opinion by repeating this scam Marbesol generate a huge income and this is how they make the bulk of their money.

Unfortunately Marbesol don’t seem to care about getting bad reviews as they get thousands of customers through their doors regardless, all first time customers who get cheated out of money and don’t return again. Loads of one-time-only customers. If you look through their replies the just say "read the terms and conditions ..." but nothing in their terms and conditions will help you as a customer.

The proof that the 140 Euros paid for “new damage” is not to repair the cars is that all the cars I saw has scratches and marks on them so they are not even repaired with the money they receive for repairing the car. THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST TAKING OUR MONEY AND LAUGHING AT US. The frustrating thing is that they hold your deposit on your credit card so can do what they like, and they know that you are on your way to Malaga Airport so have very little time to waste arguing with professional scammers.

Beware – They WILL scam you !!

The only good thing is that there is a free shuttle bus to pick you up at the airport and to take you there afterwards.

ONLY ONE STAR GIVEN IN RATING AS I CANNOT GIVE NO STARS !!

Disgraceful

Please do not use this company. A truely awful experience due to:
1) We had our own car insurance which just seem to irritate the administrator, to the point where he said that if we didn't have their insurance they would charge us €140 surcharge. When we pointed out that this isn't in the companies T&Cs he backed off.
2) As we had our own insurance they put the €1000 excess on the credit card but the credit card company would not allow this and blocked the transaction much to the delight of the administrator as they could null and void the booking because the booker and credit card holder no longer matched!
3) As this point it was 11:30pm and with a 3 year daughter in tow, we needed a car otherwise st this point I would have walked away and they knew this so charged €252 for a basic Fiat with full insurance
4) And this is the worse point, they charged us €35 for picking the car up late, though what they failed to understand is this lateness was due to them picking us and the rest of the customers up late at the airport then making us wait in the reception area. As I pointed this out I laughed sarcastically because this all episode was a joke to which the admin person replied aggressively "laugh all you want...you should read the T&Cs" .....I didn't realise that being treated like dirt was part of the T&Cs!!!!!

Marbesol is not a serious company. Rent your car somewhere else.

I have the same experience of the company as others.
-Aggressive sales policy.
-Incalculable lease terms.
-Cars with an untold number of injuries.
-There informed by the tenancy agreement is not that the car you rent is scratched around the car.
-Alleged new small scratches to upon return. Price 140 Euro each.
-Rude staff.
After the last (very last) rental period, the damaged car was back in the street again before I left the company office. This I take as proof that Marbesol has no idea repairing the damage which it charges for.
Finally, I was not informed that the company according to Andalucian law must offer dissatisfied customers to fill out a complaint form (Hojas the Quejas y Reclamaciones) with a copy to the tourism authorities in Andalusia. The complaint may be written in both Spanish and English.
I will send the complaint when I come back to Spain in 2017.

Engelsk:
We are a family, who rented a car from Marbesol and had travelled approximately 12 hours before we arrived to our distination. Firstly the employee at Marbesol tries to sell an insurance which was more expensive than the rent of the car for an entire week. When we rejected the first offer, you tried to sell us another insurance and tried to convince us that our insurance from back home would not cover the expenses on that car. Even though our home insurance company told us that they would. You were very rude when we rejected your insurance offer, and we felt like you did not accept no as an answer. When you finally realized that we did not want the insurance, we had to check the car by ourselves. There were supposed to be 33 small damaged on the car, which we could spend an hour to check ourselves. We told you, that we had 2 small children, who were 10 months and 2,5 years old respectively, therefore it was an inconvenience and seemed a bit strange that we should spend time on that, and it would be impossible to find all the small scratches on the car, when it was parked in a dark spot, and when some of the scratches were so small. Finally after a long time, we dicided to rent the car anyway, even though we had a bad felling about the entire situation. And the feeling was right! When we come back with the car, after 1 week you found 2 small scratches on the car for which you charges us 140 euro. This business is rotten, and you are only going for our money and the service is bad. You are probably doing the same trick with everybody, who rents a car , telling that they had to find all the scratches by themselves which nobody is capable of and then tell the costumer that there are 2 new scratches on the car and then charge you a significantly high amount for scratches, which probably were there in the beginning anyway. This is the reason why I would strongly recommed people who consider to rent a car at this place, to avoid it! Because I have never ever experienced such a bad service before.

Intimidating and aggressive sales techniques- SHAMEFUL!

I'm writing in to inform you of the dreadful customer service we experienced when renting a car with MARBESOL (Malaga)

We have used them regularly over the past few years, and have always been treated well and professionally... but in hindsight we always took out their' All Inclusive' Insurance Package!

This time we decided we would be better off taking out an annual car insurance in the UK which covers us for all the extras; so when we arrived late on Tuesday night last week to collect the car with only their ' basic package', the customer service could not have been more different!

My partner and I stood there for 20 mins like naughty schoolchildren, being humiliated by the female assistant as she sarcastically insulted us for not taking out their 'fully inclusive' package. We apologized and informed her politely that we usually do, however this year as it was cheaper we took out our own. She was having none of it and insinuated that our insurance( which she knew nothing about) would not cover us for certain things and that in the end we had only saved ourselves 80 euros (in fact it was more) and she kept repeating , while rolling her eyes, 'only 80 euros'. She went on to say that any tiny scratch found upon returning the vehicle would cost us 140 euros and that with the basic package we lose out as they charge a lot extra for petrol Basically glorifying the fact that they rip you off on fuel allowance!

We were then given a car with lots of scratches( which only some of them were noted in their document) and as per the advice on our annual car insurance, took a lot of photographs. We spotted a few extra marks/ scratches, which Marbesol noted down. However at 11.30 pm in a dark garage how do they expect you to fully check the car over before driving away?

After a heated argument the female assistant eventually apologized for her rude behaviour , stating it had been a long day for her. But after reading a lot of reviews online, this seems to be common practice these days and it's shamefully obvious that Marbesol's customer service is going downhill.. and fast!

The whole experience left my partner wrecked with nerves and spoiled the first few days of our time here. We have phoned them twice to complain about this and asked to speak to their manager, but he is never around and has not yet returned my calls. I have since visited the consumer office and been given some sound advice .

This kind of intimidation and aggressive sales techniques at Marbesol (and no doubt other car rental companies) must stop.

Dont use this company

I returned my vehicle today 17.6.16 and the Marbesol representative claimed that scratches were apparent on the rear passenger wing. On examination all I could see were several minor surface marks probably caused by foliage which when rubbed by hand became barely visible, the surface of the paint was not compromised (I have photographs) and in my view they could not be classified as scratches. I was not aware of any incident where such marks may have been caused. When cleaned I am convinced that the marks would have been totally invisible and could have been present when I collected the car. At worst they could be described as no more than fair wear and tear. I became suspicious when the representative asked if I had my own insurance and when I confirmed I did he then pointed out the damage, stating that he could not hire the vehicle in that condition and would have to have it re-sprayed. This despite the fact that the vehicle was hired with far worse existing damage as per the report. Despite my protests Euros140 was taken off my pre authorised credit card. This is a totally unreasonable amount for something that needed no more than water a sponge and a rub to remedy and no doubt will simply go to the companies profit line.
I have asked them to confirm what constitutes a scratch, chip dent or other chargeable damage and what is classed as fair wear and tear. This is similar to other complaints and I get the sense that this is a well rehearsed scam.
