TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. On 6/19/25, I ordered four pair of shoes from Marasteps (total cost $249.80). Marasteps stated the average delivery time was 4-8 days, and given that I wanted the shoes for an upcoming trip overseas, I ordered them expecting the delivery to follow Marastep's estimate. Two pair arrived on July 5, 16 days after the order date (and after I left for my trip). The third pair arrived on July 8, 19 days after the order date. The fourth pair arrived August 7, 49 days after the order date.
Along with the delivery delays, three of the four pairs I received were incorrect. One pair was the wrong size (I ordered size 4, they sent size 5.5). Another pair was the wrong color (I ordered light brown, they sent orange). Another pair was the wrong shoe altogether.
All pairs seemed cheap and plasticky to me, like something sold at a Dollar Store.
At first, Marasteps offered a refund but only if I paid for return shipping which, it turns out, meant shipping to China. This was odd given that all four pair came to me from a facility here in the US. USPS would charge over $70 for return shipping to China.
When I asserted that the exorbitant shipping cost constituted an unfair solution, Marasteps then offered to forgo the need to return the shoes but, in lieu of a refund, would provide merely a 50% discount on my next purchase.
Given that this is an “at fault” situation, with Marasteps at fault for sending me items I did not order and for delivering items past a reasonable delivery time, I requested a third time that Marasteps provide a 100% refund and cover the cost of return shipping themselves. This is standard here in the US when a company fails to send what a customer ordered and/or fails to deliver items as expected. Marasteps refused.
I have submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and will update this review, if warranted, depending on the Marasteps' response.
Shoppers should note that even though the Marasteps website shows a company address in Boca Raton, FL, and even though the website's featured story about "Mara," the alleged founder, looks as wholesome and all-American as one can get, the evidence suggests that this is a China-based company masquerading as an American one, and it is certainly one that, in my opinion, sells poor quality shoes, has serious quality-control problems, maintains an absurd return policy, and offers a flippant excuse for customer service. I myself will never do business with Marasteps again.
Update: I have learned that Marasteps' Florida address is the same as that of Tanner Shoes, which many online reviews suggest is fraudulent and which shows a BBB rating of "F". The street address corresponds to no building but instead appears on Google maps as just a spot on the road. See all the negative online reviews and BBB complaints for Tanner as well as a YouTube report by De-Reviews entitled "Tanner Shoes Scam Or Legit? Tanner-Shoes.com Review." In sum, it looks as though Marasteps and Tanner are run by the same people. Buyer beware.
