Still waiting on light kit month later

Ordered the 2 kayak trailer and bit the bullet on cost. When it arrived in early May there was a note inside a box explaining the lights are on back order. Nobody let me know this and now I had no legal way to haul it to the river for memorial day weekend. When I called, the guy didn't believe me and asked me to take pictures. Unbelievable! Then once I put the trailer together, it wont fit 2 kayaks correctly. So I had to spend $200 more to get the wider cross rails. Still no lights and still waiting cross beams here in June.

Very nice folks at the factory but the Malone 12 cargo box with the beautiful Silver finish started peeling and turning yellow after 5 years . The factory said the outside finish is NOT COVERED by the limited lifetime warranty. So.. beautiful No More. Looks horrible now.

Lost my business

I’ve been trying to catch Malone’s customer support for about a week now. Being I live in Texas and am on CST time, their closing time of 4pm EST always seems too difficult to catch during the week with work. This morning, I went out of my way to make time to contact them. Called, and got through quickly enough. I thought great I’ll finally get the answers to the questions I’ve been waiting a week to ask. Unfortunately the rep that answered was absolutely no help at all. I told him I needed advice on what products they had that would work best for my needs. I gave him my vehicle information, the two kayaks I was looking to transport, the size and weight of both. Only to be told, “well did you look at our site, everything is on there”. I explained yes, I’m familiar with the site but I had more questions as to size or dimensions with my vehicle. Then I’m told “As long as the weights within the requirements it will work”. I again asked is there no information there you can use to help me with, as in vehicle applications. Then I’m told, “well no that’s not exactly how it works...”. To which I hung up mid sentence.
If your company can’t provide real support for your products I have zero interest in buying or recommending anyone else buy products from you. I did thorough research using both Malone’s Fit My Car as well as reading reviews, and checking with fellow FJ Cruiser owners that carry two kayaks. Only one used Malone products, and only carried one kayak. I needed details about the required space between their sea wings, as well as information about the mounting height and clearances needed. To see if I could use two of these with my set up. This is information not provided on the website, and is the reason I’ve waited a week to speak with them. This was some of the worst customer service, period. People that just flat out don’t want to help, or do their job. People don’t take the time to call to be directed back to the website.
I spoke with Yakima last week, got excellent support and knowledge. They took the time to go over options as well as information about properly securing my kayaks. I wanted to give Malone an opportunity, as their products are more economical. But there definitely is truth to you get what you pay for, as Malone can’t hire decent people to help their customers.
I’m sure they’ll post a reply apologizing, that unfortunately users aren’t allowed to reply too. It’s just the businesses opportunity to make a public apology, and try to contact the complainant. Overall, I’m going to go with another brand, most likely Yakima. Because if I can’t get decent service before the sale, I’d hate to think how bad it is after the sale.

I purchased a WideTrak™ATB Large…

Nice Cart, Needs some engineering tweaking to be excellent cart!

I purchased a WideTrak™ATB Large Kayak/Canoe Cart - No-Flat Tires
It states on BOTH Old Town and Malone sites it's 250 lbs capacity
Yet directly on the box it saying 200lbs capacity????
What is it?
I bought it for a sportsman autopilot 136 and my Yak loaded is running above 200lbs

Also the widest setting( 12") for the vertical padded supports do not line up directly and you have to tap them in with rubber mallet.

The pads that cover corner bends where glued in and I had to twist them till the seal broke to move them?

Customer service with a plus

Excellent company to do business with. I had a problem (of my doing) which required a new part for my kayak trailer. They took care of it promptly. Would definitely do business wither again and have recommended them to my friends.

Tough kayak trailer

Love this trailer. Far more rugged and versatile then it's Yakima competitor. It is galvanizedsteel instead of aluminum and I didn't have to buy a spare tire and other necessities separately.

I have enjoyed the Kayak trailer

I have enjoyed the Kayak trailer, your customer service was really good to replace parts that were missing and explain where the title was for the trailer. I have had excellent service from the Kayak trailer and it tows easily behind my Subaru Outback.

Affordable Roof Rack With High Quality

Was easy to install and has held up very well over a couple of years. The increased roof storage has come in handy on longer trips. These perform as well, if not better, than systems twice the price.

A high quality trailer

A high quality trailer with appropriate tires, not skinny little doughnuts. The sliding tongue is very useful in freeing up space in the garage.
