1 Star is too kind

Makro messed up my order twice and are now ignoring my emails.
They sent the wrong item twice and made me place new orders for their stuff up, paying for the delivery fee each time.
They are sharks who do not care.

Absolutely disgusting service.
I ordered a gift online after being told it would be delivered on 21 January. The moment payment went through, the delivery date changed to 23 January, which does not work as we leave for Durban on the 22nd. The original delivery date was the reason for the purchase.
I have called the contact centre multiple times and the agents were completely unhelpful and dismissive. I asked three times to speak to a supervisor and was refused every time. I have also sent three emails and only received automated responses — no one has taken ownership of this issue.
This level of service is pathetic and unacceptable. I would strongly caution others before ordering online from this company.

Very disappointing customer service at…

Very disappointing customer service at Makro Ottery. The cashier was busy chatting to the packer and completely ignored my wife. When it came to payment, an error was made, likely due to a lack of attention. A supervisor promised to follow up with an email, but hours later we’ve received nothing and can’t get through to anyone. Overall, very unprofessional and not the level of service expected.

Damaged good received and no refund weeks later

Hello,

I ordered the item on the 26st of December. Was delivered by the 31st of December.

Today is the 10th of January and the item has still not been collected.

I have had no further communication besides the confirmation of the return on the 31st of December. I was told 2 - 4 business days for collection.

This has been the worst experience ever. Not once did anyone apologize or take accountability. I just keep hearing "we outsource our delivery", "we can not do an exchange", "you will have to just wait", "there is nothing we can do to speed up the process"

DON'T BUY FROM MAKRO ONLINE!!!
They have the worst customer care service.
I am waiting for a refund since 10 December 2025. I place an order, Makro online proceeded to the payment app, paid for an item only to see 2 days later that the item was "out of stock". No item received and no refund received to date. I email and call every day, but receive the same pathetic reply, "our finance department is doing a manual recon". Makro stole my money and won't refund me!!!!

1xstar is too high for this badly run, totally incompetent business.

Early December after late delivery date, eventually my order was delivered.
But, of course, totally incorrect order.
A tv stand instead of a console table. Since early December I have been begging and pleading, phoning and emailing for collection.

I was promised 30th December.
What a lie.

Now on the 8th January the daily begging pleading, emailing and phoning continues.

No one knows what is going on. The staff are totally untrained and incompetent.
Absolutely useless.

So, they have my R4000. I have a huge unwanted box with an unwanted tv stand.

Do Makro care? Ha ha ha. Not even a tiny bit.

If you value your sanity, avoid Makro like the plague.

Makro Has My Money and Simply Doesn’t Care

Makro has taken my money and has failed to deliver, failed to refund, and failed to assist — repeatedly.

On 12 December 2025, I paid for a TV game console. The order was incorrect, and after Makro’s own mistake, the item was returned and collected by the courier. Weeks later, I still have not received my refund. No explanations. No timelines. Just silence and excuses.

To make matters worse, I also ordered a trampoline, which was eventually delivered — but not the size I ordered. When I requested a return, I was told to “wait” indefinitely, as if my money means nothing.

I have contacted Makro multiple times and have been taken from department to department with zero accountability. No one takes ownership. No one resolves anything. This is not incompetence — this is blatant disregard for consumers.

Makro’s customer service is shocking, disrespectful, and unacceptable. Holding a customer’s money since December and refusing to resolve clear errors is a violation of basic consumer rights.

I am now escalating this matter to Makro Legal and the National Consumer Commission (NCC) because it is clear Makro will not act unless forced to.

If you value your money and your time, think twice before buying from Makro.

Return not possible

The delivery was good and on time, but I wanted to return the product because it wasn't right. The system said it would be picked up on December 13th and I would receive a refund two weeks later. After three weeks, it still hasn't been picked up. I called five times and sent just as many emails. No one there does anything. Annoying people at the "help" desk. I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy from Makro.

Christmas Ruined by Late Delivery and Poor Service experience

Terrible experience. I ordered a cookware set in mid-December with delivery promised for 20 December. The date came and went with no delivery. Tracking kept showing “out for delivery,” but nothing arrived. This was meant to be a Christmas gift. Customer service offered excuses about couriers and holidays instead of a solution. No accountability, poor communication, and very disappointing service. I would not recommend ordering from this seller.

You do NOT deserve a star at all

You do NOT deserve a star at all. I purchased an electric bike from you and promised date of delivery was today. NOTHING, the item has not even left the premises and xmas is the day after tomorrow! Now someone will not receive a xmas gift! How BAD must your service be to go this far? I cannot express how disgusted and disappointed I am. Will NEVER support Makro again, you should be ashamed of yourselves and this is a sign of the times, you will not last very long, especially if I read all the terrible reviews.

What a shity customer services i…

What a shity customer services i received. I went to makro to purchase fridge on weekend and asked for delivery on the 23rd. Indeed they call around 8 to ask if I'm available, I only received my fridge at 18:05 to make it worse there was no communication in between I had to call and ask, beg for information regarding my parcel. When they arrived here they dropped my parcel a street away. They told me to sort myself out nothing to sign to acknowledge that I received my parcel. My fridge was left there at the streets and had to beg people to help me to carry it to the house. I bet if they ask the driver who received my parcel doesn't even know my name cause he didn't even care weather I'm the one who was waiting for the order. I'm so dissapointed in makro such a big company with as customer service 😒 very dissapointing.

makro is the most unreliable company to deal with.
i ordered my kids xmas gifts online - and the day before xmas they cancelled the last item without even advising me. worst service i have ever received. Please never order online from Makro. Out of the 6 items i ordered at the end of Nov, i have received 2 items and the rest were cancelled by Makro at all random dates.

I ordered an item on 11 December 2025…

I ordered an item on 11 December 2025 with a delivery date for 19th. The delivery never happened. I contacted Makro Customer Centre. They will escalate the problem to the third party who is the actual seller. On Saturday I was told they will escalate the problem with said third party. I phoned Monday 22 December. They again escalated it, that will take another 48 hours. Then they will cancel the order and start the refunding proses. It is unacceptable as it was a Xmas gift and specifically used Makro because of their good name. As for customer Service. The operator repeated word for word what I heard the first time. Why pay people to read the same message get a voice recording? I am disgusted

I am true disappointment with Makro

I am true disappointment with Makro, I trust that my order would be delivered in a timely manner and it was not the case. My fridge was said to be delivered yesterday 19 December then I said home literally all day waiting for my item only for them to tell me it would be deliver on the 24 December mind you on the app the actual delivery day is today the 20 December. I trusted I would receive my order and went ahead and bought items that need to be refrigerated. My food is going bad because this is day two that they decided not to make delivery. The staff know nothing about the whereabouts of their drivers the app don’t provide correct information at a lot.

I will never recommend any to order online I thought it was convenient but it’s not because I’m sitting with food that’s about to go bad, because no one understands the true meaning of customer satisfaction here and they do not keep their promise to deliver. So if you do order understand that your order will not arrived on the date you intended it for.

Faulty Fridge - No urgency to honor warranty.

Bought a Defy 614L DFF647 fridge less than a year ago. It broke and trying to deal with the warranty claims has been a nightmare. I have lost all my food as I got informed that it takes up to 5 business days for a technician to only come inspect. What insanity is that. One would think certain appliances like something that you keep thousands of rands of food in takes priority.

On top of that it is like applying for a home loan with all the info you need to provide them before they even book a technician. One would think providing them with the slip and a picture of the Fridge would be enough to prove you bought it. No they need serial numbers, date of purchase, Makro card number, etc. All that info is on the invoice???

Worst after sale treatment ever and who is going to replace all my lost food???

Will never buy from them again.
