Initiative to help garment workers impacted by Covid. Lost Stock allows shoppers to buy a mystery box of clothes cancelled by leading brands and retailers. For every box bought a garment worker and her family for a week through the Bangladeshi NGO, Sajida Foundation. This initiative was set up in May 2020 in response to $2bn of clothes being cancelled by leading brands with no payments being made to factories. In 7 months 125,000 boxes were sold, surpassing the initial target of 10,000. To do this a new global supply chain was built during a pandemic from scratch.

High quality clothing for a good cause

The clothes I received are high quality and Lost Stock kept me informed throughout. I was fully aware that I was buying as part of a program to help those families directly affected by the stockpile of unwanted clothes so I wasn’t worried about delays and it was a lovely surprise when my parcels arrived. It’s a great project.

A good experience for me.

I ordered the spring/summer bag after hearing about Lost Stock from my daughter. I thought it was a very good idea, paid my money and waited. Yes the wait was longer than stated, but Lost Stock had proved to be very popular, so they had thousands of orders. I finally received my bag. Overall I was happy with my clothes. They wouldn't have been on my shopping list, but I loved them. I swopped one top for a dress, then I purchased another dress. I decided to order the autumn/winter bag and it arrived within 2 weeks. Again I was happy with the clothes sent.
For me this was a good experience and I was very happy with the price I paid. I knew from the start that there were costs to be taken from the up front price, but a concern like Lost Stock couldn't run on fresh air! I was delighted to help the workers who had no wages.

Please keep up encouraging and up building one another. We need it

Overall it was a lovely experience. I ordered boxes for my teenage son and for myself. The items all were good quality and fairly good fitting. Unfortunately living in Ireland there was not much opportunity to swap and I feel the boxes worked out more expensive never coming close to the promised worth. The best part was to see, women up building and encouraging one another. For me waiting for so many months just is not working. I learned this, too excited.

We bought stock cancelled by over 50 different brands and retailers due to the coronavirus pandemic, directly from factories. Due to this being cancelled stock, all brand tags had to be removed from products to allow them to be sold, which in some cases can make items feel lower quality & value.
When we set out to build Lost Stock we aimed to sell 10,000 boxes, in the end, we sold over 124,000. This increase in scale and complexity along with the continual changes created by the pandemic meant that some orders were delayed and we are really sorry for this issue.

Some teething problems but overall Good.

I ordered two boxes in June 2020, arrived September. Later ordered a kids box and it was here in 4 weeks. A really lovely idea that struggled with its own success, and the global pandemic!
Men’s and kids box were lovely. Really high quality and easily worth the RRP. Less convinced on the women’s box, but more than happy for the clothes to have not gone to waste, for workers to have been paid for making them, and for a further donation to have been made to people in need. In the end, I swapped some items through a FB group and very happy with my stuff.

Very pleased with my two boxes

Very pleased with my two boxes - the first took forever to arrive, but I understand they had far more takeup than they had anticipated. Had to swap one item as it was a bit small; delighted with everything else - some styles I wouldn't have looked at twice in the shop, but they really suit me. A great idea, too, to support garment workers at this difficult time.

Lucky dip fun for a great cause!

I really enjoyed my Lost Stock experience. Having worked in Bangladesh before, I’ve seen how difficult life can be for garment workers on the ground and I thought it was a great idea. I wasn’t necessarily expecting to like everything I got as I knew it was basically a lucky dip, but I actually really liked about half of the things in my Spring/Summer bag, and managed to swap the other stuff through the swap groups, so ended up with a full set of clothes I was really happy with. I actually really enjoyed the group and the swapping too! It was part of the fun. My second Autumn/ Winter box was perfect, really beautiful clothes that I will definitely wear and I didn’t swap any of them. All-in-all it was a great experience and I’m happy to have supported such an important initiative and got some clothes I wouldn’t normally have thought to buy out of it too.

Summer and Autumn Boxes

Ordering a mystery box of clothes is always going to be a gamble but I am so happy with what arrived in mine. However, if you don't love every item you can swap it like I've done or Lost Stock have different partners on their website with more ideas for these items. I was so pleased with my box that come payday I ordered an autumn/winter box as a treat for myself. You might have seen some controversy about the company behind lost stock but I understood when I first purchased how the money was being split between charity and the company so I was happy to purchase again. It's hard to defend the lead time for some peoples summer boxes (there're are still people waiting) but my summer box arrived in around 3 months and my autumn winter box was 72 days.

I agree with everything Deirdre said in the review below. I supported Lost Stock because of what they were trying to achieve (helping garment workers and preventing clothes from ending up in landfill). It was never created to mimic a traditional shopping experience and I think all of the obstacles the team faced also have to be considered (pandemic logistics, Brexit etc).

feels like a scam

I got my "box" about a month ago and was not impressed with the three low quality shirts inside. I decided to read the reviews back then and saw all the negative comments, felt I had been duped and left it at that. It seems a bit strange to me how suddenly in the past month there has been a wave of good reviews? Somebody prompting people or did they just pick up their act. Anyway, I just decided to come and add to the many other bad experiences.

Due to this being cancelled stock, all brand tags had to be removed from products to allow them to be sold, which in some cases can make items feel lower quality. We’re sorry that you weren’t happy with the quality of the items in your Lost Stock box.

Lost Stock was designed specifically to help garment workers and factories impacted by cancellations by brands of completed items. In just 7 months we were able to generate enough funds to support 113,000 people for just over 4 weeks each by selling cancelled items in a mystery box. Loved it

Superb initiative to respond to some of the problems created by the pandemic. My clothes were ace, especially the tropical shirt! The emails kept me updated on my box delivery and it was a fun, different shopping experience from start to finish.

I can see there was some negativity around the delivery times and some of the items, but for me it was £35 well spent. Considering the whole operation had to be set up from scratch, it was pretty impressive in my eyes!

Such a great initiative

Such a great initiative. I bought two boxes - summer and winter. Loved every item in my summer box! Some of the items in my winter box didn't fit me, but my friend was very happy to take them! Thanks to Lost Stock, I've learned how to shop in a more sustainable way. I am in one of the Facebook groups where people are able to reveal what they have received from Lost Stock and swop clothes that don’t fit or are not their usual style and it is just so nice to see this community growing and hopefully changing the way we shop in the future.

Charitable giving with an added bonus!

A long time to wait for delivery but quite exciting to see what you'll get & ultimately, it's charitable giving but you get something in return; anything was going to be a bonus. From the kids boxes 3 out of 5 items have been a big hit so we're happy with that. It really depends what your motivation is when purchasing. We went for bright colours each time. The men's items are quite flamboyant but it's given us a laugh & the flamingo shirt made a great secret santa gift! The women's stuff is quite summery so will need to wait a while before I wear it but there's a nice mix of prints & colours & sizing is good. It really is a lucky dip; however, surely people know that before they commit?! Maybe a charity shop here, or a friend in need could benefit as well as the family in Bangladesh. It is certainly a worthwhile cause. I would order again. :)

Perfect selection of clothes

The clothes picked for me almost exactly matches my taste. Very well done.
Why not 5 stars? Between the order and delivery it took more than 2 months. I almost forgot about it.

However, when I heard it was stopping, I placed a second order.
