Have used London Health Company a few times now for routine blood monitoring - easier than trying to get an appointment at the surgery!

The kits are sent out quickly and results are back very quickly! In fact each time, I have had the results the same day as they have received the samples…

Did take have to read the instructions a few times in how to activate the kit before posting the sample (completing a form so the lab know to expect the sample).

Purchased the HCG test, arrived quickly. Collected my blood at 1320, posted by 1330 and had results by 1630 the next day - super efficient, thank you.

I wouldn't use this company again, was a negative experience overall. They're not a 'London health company' to begin with, but are from Birmingham and moved to East London (had I known this I'd have avoided them due to negative past experiences but that's personal preference).

The kit was slow to arrive, and arrived on a cut off day (their available days to receive the sample are fewer than other companies, being only monday to wednesday). So it took long to be able to even send off the kit which is something to consider if you need fast results. This isn't a fast service.

The kit itself is difficult to use and you may require a venus blood draw to get help getting enough blood, this part isn't a fault of the company.

The instructions to send off are a bit convoluted and it mixes tips on drawing blood with registering the sample, which can cause delays as seen in a number of reviews. There are ways this can be improved.

Staff mostly come across as blunt and a bit rude in email even when you're polite.

Only positive is the results seem thorough enough, so the lab side of this operation doesn't seem to need any improvement.

I'd use another service in future, Optimale for instance.

Tested for cholesterol with total cholesterol level being at 6.7 with this company, a week later tested blood from the vein offered by GP and showed 5.0 norm. Fasted for 12 hours on both occasions. Just DO NOT waste your money with this or any other companies that offering finger prick blood results!

Sent blood as described for ferritin and vit D - activated correctly. No results after waiting 3 working days.

My first test kit didn’t work due to some discrepancies, but got a second test kit sent out & was happy with the service..
I would use again..

I ordered two tests to measure my HCG levels rising over a 48-hour period. LHC seemed like the most cost-effective company to do this with.

Essentially, the tests did what I needed them to do. I remember the advice about sending the tests back between Mon and Wed being present at the time of ordering, so there were no surprises there. I received one result late Wednesday evening after posting my test Monday afternoon and the next late Friday evening after posting my test on Wednesday.

Overall, I've definitely benefited from the reassurance I needed. But for anyone planning to do the same thing, it really is key that:

1) You send the tests back between the days advertised. If this seems like it'll be an issue (HCG is definitely time-sensitive) it may be worth using a provider that offers venous sampling in your locale.
2) The process of drawing blood using a lancet can be quite arduous if you're the same as myself and you run cold. I followed the advice RE warming my hands with water etc for 5 mins before drawing, but lancet draws are always hard going for me. Again, I definitely went into this with my eyes open so it was a non-issue. But it's important not to be surprised by this if it's a method you choose.
