*WARNING* LocateFamily.com

*WARNING*
This company publishes distorted private and personal information to entice people to fill out their "request to delete" form. This form requires that full name, email address and telephone number is supplied to facilitate removal. This of course allows them to abuse this information.

This company should be shut down

This company should be shut down. If you google them you can find articles showing they've been fined €525,000 and there are lots of people organising against them on reddit. search there to see where you can make complaints, get them fined again and/or shut down.

Who are these people

Who are these people? How this website is up and running! It is illegal what they are doing! They publish people's full names, addresses and phone numbers without their consent. That's dangerous! I asked twice to have my data removed and once in 2021 and second time this year (2024) and my full name, address and phone number are still fully visible! Something must be done, this is ridiculous!

Scam

They publish people's full names, addresses and phone numbers without their consent. I don't know where they got my information from but I have no doubt it's a scam. What's curious is that there are quite a few UK addresses and phone numbers, but they all say "United States", so something must be preventing them from stating the UK.

I tried to delete my personal details, but they asked for proof of ID. Surely, that's part of the scam to collect more data to scam people. I'm surprised to have read that other users have been sending documents to these scammers. Now they have all your personal details AND proof of ID. It's scary to think what they can do with all that information. I would avoid any communication with them and would definitely never send even more personal information or important documents.

I've reported them to google.

I am From Canada. They put my whole addresse with my name and phone number for public view, this is dangerous for me and my family

This company publish all my private information, name family name, address and phone number without my consent and when i asked them this can be dangerous for me and my family, they asked me for documents to prove it, which more illegal.
I sent them a copy of my phone bill, they told me they will remove them after 72H, more than 2 weeks, nothing done.

Unauthorised publication of my contact data

This company stole my personal data and published it online without my permission. I have never publicly shared my mobile number or posted my mobile number online, therefore it was taken without my permission. I followed their removal request procedure but kept receiving an automated reply and my data was not removed. I live in Europe where personal data is protected by GDPR but this company doesn't care about that.

I submitted a copy of my address to them and they confirmed my details would be removed within 72 hours but 72 hours later it was still online.

I have now reported the page to Google to ask them to remove it from their search results. I would advise others to do the same - run the Google search and then click the dots in the top right to report the page to Google.

I think we should try a class action…

I think we should try a class action law suit.
These are scammers selling personal info to
telemarketers
They published my phone number. I have unlisted phone number and on the do not call list.

I have filed an official complaint with the privacy commissioner office & the Better Business Bureau.
Both don't seem to understand there are privacy laws in Canada and they are not following.

I have asked for supervisor contact, for my lawyer but they ignore my request

Utter disgrace

Astonishing how this website is up and running. With all the laws and talking about privacy, data protection and so on, whoever hides behind this illegal website gets away with the crime. They display in plain sight the details of millions of people. Potentially putting them in danger. It's utterly disgraceful!

They publish private information

As everyone is saying. They break the law by publishing private information, and they manage to get away with it. What a world we live in!!!!!
I will file complaints against them in 3 different countries and will manage to block their filthy website in those countries
If you live in the US. Please report to your local authorities!

Terrible company they have your…

Terrible company they have your information and by having it they endanger my family when I ask them to remove it they need all sorts of additional documents to have it removed,
One of these days somebody is going to get killed by their information they provided and then they are going to get their butts sued off, all of them

worst company ever

I echo what most others are saying. They are publishing personal information of people without their consent. They should be banned from doing this. I requested my information be removed and they did remove some of it (but refused to remove my name). Now it's years later and they've put back the information I had requested to have removed. They have zero respect for people and i hope they go bankrupt so we don't have to deal with them any longer

They publish personal information…

They publish personal information without consent
They publish personal information without consent and deny removing it when asked, or even ask people for more personal data (like identity card scans) to do it. That's illegal and harashment.

I am hardly against such business BUT

I am hardly against such business because the data are published without consent. and the company is hidden with cloudflare.

Despite all the negative reviews and issues, and while automatic deletion of my data were not successful I managed to get my data deleted by sending them a picture of a paper mail where my name and address were displayed at their contact mail from my gmail.

While I can not give a positive evaluation here because of the whole concept of the site I still thank them a lot for taking my deletion request in consideration.

If your deletion request is not successful you can delete the search result from Google and Bing by requesting personal data deletion at Google and Bing.

Note that Bing is used by most of the well known search engines other than google (bing, yahoo, ddg, qwant, ecosia, swisscows etc.)

Also note that Google and LocateFamily are very prompt to requests but Bing makes things complicated and does not answer quickly (if not at all, it's been 4 days and I did not get an answer from Bing while Google and LocateFamily already took action)

Update 1: the deletion done by LocateFamily is only done on the requested page your data may be and probably is listed on other pages of the site and thus you need to make a new request for each page where it is listed. Complete waste of time...

Update 2: an other duplicate entry deleted by LocateFamily thanks, there are still 2 others duplicates, hope I'll get rid of them.

Update 3: Bing answered my request positively after one week BUT the search engine still return the result :@ and I received the approval email 48h ago.

Update 4: only one entry left, hope I will get rid of it... meanwhile Bing still does not respect the request they deserve a law suit, there are law enforcing entities like Belgian's APD. denunciation would cost Bing (as an established company) at least 50k € fine, I should do that but I am tired of all this. Locatefamily has already been fined 550k € by Netherlands's authorities but I am a little doubtful about the enforcement of such fine, but at least there are legal conventions between European countries and the USA and thus actions could be taken at the domain registry level.

Update 5 (final): I finally get all the entries on the site to be deleted... it took a lot of effort and mails, I think the data are just hidden not completely deleted but at least they honor the requests and the data are not publicly available anymore, note that once your email get verified further deletion request does not require verification... in my case there were 9 different entries on different pages of the same data. When you make a deletion request it is answered in 24/48h and action is token 24/48h after the confirmation.
