Moved into a new place with carpets that desperately needed cleaning. Tried multiple times to hire a rug doctor but found the process to be very un user friendly, so tried Library of Things instead.... See more

Best way to get a job done! easy to borrow tools and great easy guides how to use. Fully recommend it
I love how easy it is. Just book online, turn up, enter the code and the little locker opens and voila! - you can borrow whatever you need. It changes your whole outlook; you don’t need to buy ‘stuff’, you can borrow things. Brilliant!
Easy to book and use this service, picked my pressure washer from Dalston Library lockers and it was open early in the morning which helped. It has a wide range of things you can borrow, for very little . I would really recommend this brilliant idea.
We have been back several times to borrow the carpet cleaner! It’s great to be able to borrow a professional quality item that we couldn’t afford or store. Same with all the other items - it’s great to be able to hire something that we might only use once instead of being wasteful. The system is really straightforward to use and we have always found staff friendly and helpful.
Charged £30 with zero warning — disappointing
I borrowed a power washer and returned it, but inadvertently left out a small box of washer parts. No call, no text, no email, just a £30 charge applied to my account. The first I knew of the issue was the money already gone.
This is a community-focused organisation built around trust and sustainability. Charging members £30 without a single attempt to contact them and resolve it amicably sits very badly with those values. I'd have returned the parts the same day if anyone had asked.

I’ve used the Library of Things a couple of times now. I’ve borrowed a drill to put up some shelves and a mic and speaker to host a house party. It’s so easy and takes away all the hassle of buying and then storing something you’ll only use once. The lockers are so easy to use, the communication is brilliant - you get so many text and email reminders with all the information.
I had an issue with my Thing when I borrowed the speaker as it was being fixed at my local library so I got moved to a different nearby locker and a small discount.
This organisation really care about giving back to the community. They also have email newsletter which are full of opportunities, tips and tricks and community projects. I recommend it to all my friends particularly renters!

Really low prices, it was easy to find out what is available right now and it's wonderful that I don't have to buy a carpet deep-cleaner, when we can have a communal one instead! After this good first time I think I will book it every six months.
Saves house space and a lot of money, thank you so much for providing this service!

I've used this service countless times since moving house. My flat is tight on space, so items like a ladder, gardening tools or industrial hoovers aren't things we can have lying around gathering dust. Popping down to the local library to pick these things up as we need them was incredibly useful. Reasonable prices and easy to use service.

Efficient organisation, great communication, and everything as it should be.

This is a brilliant idea! Very convenient and close to home. We've been borrowing the Carper Cleaner for a couple of years and it works well. Easy to book, collect, use and return. Makes so much sense. Reduces waste and saves your pocket! :)

Received the tool in horrible condition, smelly, falling apart, and not working.
Now they let me pay for it more than the tool is worth because I failed to claim the defect.
It's obviously been in an unusable state for a long time, yet it's still being lent out, and I had to pay for it.
If power tools are being inspected in the same intervals, this is just dangerous.
Shady practice, rip-off.
For the money wasted, I could have bought a new tool.

Amazing idea. Rented a circular saw today to cut skirting boards and it saved me a fortune. Such a great idea. Would highly recommend. Support it to keep it going. Reduce, reuse, recycle, borrow!! Love it!
I have redone my garden last summer and I was happy to pick up the tools from my local library. No rush no complicate.
This spring I will be visiting the library more often.
Accessibility and quality of products. Great and friendly customer service
This is such a great service, in the last few months we have borrowed a carpet cleaner, jigsaw and circular saw. Exceptionally easy to borrow and all in good working order. Love the fact its based in the local leisure centre and can pick up after a class!
I am greatly enjoying reading Library of Things regular newsletter. It is always full of interesting items about what users have been doing with the things they borrow. I am learning a lot I did not know and feel very happy that Library of Things exists and is going from strength to strength. as soon as a branch opens near me I will be down there like a shot borrowing all their stuff.
love this place! so handy for so many items. just what we need for an equitable green transition :)
Library of things has sorted me out multiple times! I have borrowed drills and thermal imaging cameras from them and they've been great. Excellent interface, great customer support and a great blessing to the community.
