Feel ripped off! Poor job. Don’t use!

Received car battery dead after turning off. Date code on battery 2008. It’s 2026? Oil obviously not changed in forever black and thick. This uses 5w 30. Car running hot and can smell antifreeze so water pump, radiator, heater core, or thermostat has issues. Going to have to tow to my mechanic because afraid to drive.we count on your service and when your people do a poor job it’s upsetting because you are the eyes, ears, and knowledge to make a sound long distance purchase. Learned my lesson never again. Plus you charged me over $300. Just sad and ridiculous.

What a great service

What a great service. Had to buy a used car a thousand miles away, and Lemon Squad ran all the traps and completed a thorough inspection and provided a detailed report that helped me arrive at my decision. Will use again and I highly recommend Lemon Squad. 5 stars.

Quick, Easy, and Thorough

I went online and scheduled the service on Thursday and Lemon Squad was out at the Dealership the very next day on Friday. They also sent me a very thorough and extensive report about the car they inspected for me, providing me with pictures all around and inside of the vehicle, along with a video of them starting the vehicle and allowing me to hear it run.

abnormal engine sound…

Inspector said an abnormal engine sound upon start but provided no diagnosis. Good to know but no info. It took 2 days after the inspection to get a report back.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Lemon Squad and would not recommend their service.

I purchased a pre-purchase inspection specifically because it included a test drive, which was a key factor in my decision. However, no test drive was performed. The company later claimed this was due to “access limitations” and circumstances outside of their control, but I have documentation from the dealership confirming that a test drive was in fact permitted.

What made this situation worse was their lack of communication. I contacted Lemon Squad immediately after receiving the report and was told to expect a response within 24–48 hours. Instead, it took over three weeks to receive a meaningful reply. By that time, the vehicle had already been sold, eliminating any chance to complete the inspection properly.

They offered a 50% refund as a “gesture of goodwill,” but I do not consider this acceptable. The test drive was not an optional add-on—it was a core part of the service I paid for and the primary reason I chose this company. The portions of the inspection that were completed do not replace that missing component.

Lemon Squad has refused to take accountability and continues to maintain that a full refund is not warranted, despite failing to deliver a key part of the service and failing to respond in a timely manner when the issue was raised.

Overall, this experience reflects poor communication, lack of accountability, and failure to deliver the service as advertised.

Back end process major opportunities

The front end of the process was executed well. It was timely and comprehensive, so want to give the inspector credit for a job well done. The back end of whatever the process is to take the inspectors input data, review it, and then get it to the customer is broken. Not timely especially in the case of used auto sales which can be chaotic requiring decisive action to be able to make negotiations progress in the case of pursuing a vehicle, or to eliminate candidates quickly. Time is critical and I only received the final report after calling your third party representative, which is also a failure point, as they can do nothing and have no responsibility in the process to help get priority or escalation. Only through extreme pressure did they respond by saying they would place a priority on processing the report, and I wasn't able to connect with a first party representative to have the discussion directly with Lemon Squad. The customer experience on the back end process was impersonal and sterile.

They showed up

They showed up, the inspection was complete, thorough and with videos. I did not spend any money here, it was a great investment and well worth it!

Not worth the money - hire a certified mechanic instead

At first, we loved their service. They inspected the car on the day promised and provided us with a very thorough written record with photos.

However, we quickly found out that they had missed MULTIPLE ISSUES that should have been caught.

(1) After driving the car on the highway for 20 miles, the brakes started squealing.
(2) The radiator hose was very soft and pliable and there was a noticeable crack in the radiator.
(3) Multiple fluid leaks (valve cover gasket, axle seal soaked with fluid, output shaft oil seal)

In all, we have spent an additional $8K on repairs since buying the vehicle.

We are NOT impressed that Lemon Squad did not find these issues during a 3-hour inspecition.

Didn’t disclose (or noticed) the following…

Didn’t disclose the following: No VIN on dash which is a hassle in CA. Cracked windshield. Paint bubbling on passenger door. Crack plastic panel inside the frunk. Sent 4 videos and 1 was not loading at all. I tried contacting to get at least the video at first but no reply at all.

Use lemon squad for a classic car…

Use lemon squad for a classic car purchase in another state they worked with the seller provided a very thorough inspection report identified things I would not have known otherwise such as the Ac not working or that it needs new tires so I’m prepared for these things when I take possession of the vehicle, I would not purchase a classic car out of state site unseen without the expertise of the lemon squad highly recommend

Lemon Squad did a fantastic job

Lemon Squad did a great job. Eric called when the inspection was completed to see if I had any questions. The report I received was extensive. It included dozens of pictures as well as the detailed findings. If you are buying on line and want piece of mind regarding the condition of the vehicle you are considering I would highly recommend using Lemon Squad. I will definitly use them from now on.

Inspector missed MULTIPLE issues with car

I waited over a week after I purchased the inspected car to write this because I wanted time for my anger to subside. Where do I begin? First, the inspector did not catch the following significant issues: 1)Ammeter not functional, 2)Driver side window came off track the first time I tried to roll it down, 3)Steering wheel violently shakes during high speed braking, 4)Spare tire hold-down disc missing, 5) Driveline vibration at several highway speeds, 6)Passenger side mirror is incorrect part and unusable - it's angled for driver side use only, 7)Driver side mirror improperly installed so it doesn't allow the wing vent to open. I paid good money for this inspection and fixing these problems could cost multiple thousands of dollars - my money was not well spent on this inspection. All I really received for the price of the inspection was a ton of pretty pictures. I mistakenly thought the inspector would be thorough in verifying proper functionality of all systems. I'll not make that mistake again.

I thought I was actually going to get…

I thought I was actually going to get an inspection report? All I got was some good old boy that called me and said that’s a good running load of car. I would buy it if I were you. No diagnostic, no pictures.

Completely missed the Marc

I paid for a Lemon Squad pre-purchase inspection on this truck, trusting their report that it was in great shape. I then arranged transportation and took delivery.
Within less than half a mile of driving it off the transport, the truck died. It continued to stall repeatedly — even on the freeway — forcing me to limp it straight to a shop.
Once there, the mechanic discovered multiple serious issues that were either completely missed or falsely reported as fine:
• The radiator was only half full of coolant.
• The brake fluid was black and contaminated.
• The rear window would not go up or down.
• The A/C did not work at all; the system was not charged and had a visible crack in the line.
• There was a major oil leak from the front differential — yet the inspection report explicitly stated “no oil leak.”
• The power steering bracket was broken.
• One spark plug wire was melted against the exhaust manifold.
There is no realistic way this vehicle was properly test-driven or thoroughly inspected. It appears the report was simply pencil-whipped — a quick walkthrough with no real verification.
Even more concerning: the inspection photos don’t match reality. The pictures provided show the vehicle in bright summer sunshine with green trees, yet the inspection supposedly occurred in winter, right before a major storm. Additionally, the odometer photo appears to be one supplied by the owner rather than taken by the inspector during the visit.
I strongly believe Lemon Squad and the vehicle owner colluded (or at minimum, the inspector was negligent in a way that enabled fraud) to misrepresent the truck’s condition and defraud me.
This is far from over. I expect full accountability, including reimbursement for the inspection fee, transportation costs, repair expenses, and any other losses resulting from this misrepresented purchase.
I have retained all documentation, photos, the inspection report, shop invoices, and evidence of the mismatched seasonal/timing details.
