Vitamin D Level Decreased, LDL Increased, No Gold Standard Certifications
I've used Legion products for a long time, and I used to trust the brand, but I've recently had a couple troublesome findings. First was with the Vitamin D product- when I switched from NOW brand to Legion, my Vitamin D level dropped.
I started the Legion Vitamin D supplement in October 2025 to see if it would improve my vitamin D levels. Before switching, my level was 32 ng/mL while taking NOW brand 2000 IU supplement.
After taking Legion’s vitamin D every day, with fat, for three months, my level was rechecked and had actually decreased to 26 ng/mL. My goal in switching to Legion was to increase my vitamin D level, not see it fall.
Today, I did a deep dive on my history with omega-3 supplements. Prior to Dec. 2024, I was taking a Krill oil product. My LDL was in the 60s, consistently, every year. In Dec. 2024, I switched to Legion Triton. In Dec. 2025, my LDL increased to 91. I thought that was odd, but didn't do a deep dive to look into it further, until today. I haven't had any major diet changes, and the timing of LDL increase lines up exactly with starting this product.
I understand that everyone responds differently to omega‑3s, but DHA is well‑documented to raise LDL in some people. I wish Legion were more transparent about this possibility, because it’s not mentioned anywhere in the product description.
Another concern is that while the products are third-party tested, they’re not USP or NSF certified. Those certifications are considered the gold standard for supplement quality and purity. Given the premium price point, I expected a higher level of certification.
