Only giving one star because I can’t…
Only giving one star because I can’t give zero. I set an appointment for an oil change after receiving a mailer coupon for $29. While waiting for my oil change, the service advisor brought me a laundry list of work totaling more than $7800. He said to me with a straight face, “this car is 8 model years old, we expect some of these issues.” Issues like a $4000 partial subframe replacement? That should be expected? Other issues included:
- Tires (I have a little less than half life left, and LN’s pricing was insane)
- Loose battery terminal they wanted to replace (easily tightened at no charge by another shop)
- Replace battery ($250! The battery is fine for now and when it isn’t, I’ll buy a new battery for $120 at BJs warehouse and put it in myself)
- Wheel alignment (just had this done about a month ago!)
- Oil leak at valve cover — the only genuine issue on the list, but their job quote is about $1000 too high and includes needless additional work.
I’m surprised they didn’t put $100 wiper blade replacements on the bill. I went for a second opinion to another local shop who had multiple state inspectors look over the issues that Lancaster Nissan reported and found that most of them were completely untrue, including the reported subframe issue. As I have called around, I have found many other people who are aware of Lancaster Nissan’s “fishing expeditions,” creating repairs out of thin air just so they can get more money out of customers. If Lancaster Nissan is going to LIE to customers and ROB then for work that isn’t necessary, you can bet I will be spreading the word at every opportunity telling people not to go there for any reason.
