Shady business

I had a lifetime membership and was mostly happy with the service although it was sometimes slow. Now they did a rug pull and want me to pay again to access servers I already had access to. DO NOT BUY A LIFETIME sub - it's worthless. I've have also reported it to my states AG.

Hello George,

We are sorry to hear that the change has led to this level of frustration.

To clarify our position: Lifetime VPN access remains active. The update affects selected high-cost capabilities, including specialized server access, which are now handled through the Loyalty Plus subscription because they require dedicated capacity, sustained operational resources, and additional infrastructure management.

The updated model is intended to protect performance, strengthen reliability, and keep improving these capabilities over time. This is a service-model change at the infrastructure level, not a change based on monitoring individual browsing activity. Our privacy and no-logs commitments remain unchanged.

Look elsewhere

I am a lifetime subscriber, but KeepSolid recently issued an "update" that paywalled features like torrenting and selection of a VPN protocol for lifetime subscribers. These features were included in the lifetime plan but now I have to pay for them annually. I don't think so. This company cannot be trusted.

Hello Sameer,

We understand why this update is frustrating, especially since you mention torrenting and protocol selection as features you previously used.

Core Lifetime VPN access remains active. The affected set includes selected advanced or high-cost capabilities that are now handled through the Loyalty Plus subscription under the updated service model. Supporting these capabilities reliably requires dedicated infrastructure, capacity, and ongoing operational resources.

The updated model is intended to protect performance, strengthen reliability, and continue improving these capabilities over time. This change does not affect our privacy or no-logs commitments, and standard VPN connections remain available on Lifetime accounts.

Complete scam for lifetime subscribers - beware of bait-and-switch

I purchased a "lifetime subscription" to VPN Unlimited years ago under the clear agreement that I would have ongoing access to their full server network. Recently, KeepSolid rolled out a "Loyalty Plus" tier and locked the servers I regularly use behind an extra recurring fee, effectively stripping away the features I already paid for.

When contacted, support hid behind boilerplate Terms of Service clauses claiming they have the right to modify features whenever they want. Altering the core terms of an existing lifetime contract after the fact is a classic bait-and-switch and predatory business practice. If you are a legacy lifetime user, don't expect them to honor what you bought. Save your money and look for a provider that respects its agreements

Jayson, we’re sorry to hear how strongly this has affected your trust in VPN Unlimited. To be clear about the change: core VPN access remains active on Lifetime plans, but some advanced features and specialized server categories moved to Loyalty Plus for certain Legacy Lifetime accounts that originally came through significantly discounted one-time offers. That includes things like P2P/torrent servers, streaming-optimized servers, manual protocol selection, split tunneling/App Exceptions on Android, and Optimal Server. We understand why you disagree with our position and why the EUA explanation feels frustrating; from our side, this is a plan-feature change within the applicable terms, while the base VPN service itself remains available.

Eugenio, sorry this update changed the experience you were happy with. Your Lifetime VPN access has not been removed, but certain advanced controls and specialized server groups are now part of Loyalty Plus for affected Legacy Lifetime plans. We realize that if those were the features you used regularly, “the VPN still connects” does not fully answer your concern. The change is limited to that advanced feature set; regular VPN servers and basic connection access remain available under the existing Lifetime plan.

They paywalled what used to be standard features

After an update today I was informed that an additional subscription would be required for features that were part of the 'lifetime' subscription they sold me years ago.

No thanks. I'll find a better service.

NAS, we understand the reaction, especially when the notice appears after an update and makes it feel like something familiar was suddenly moved. The additional Loyalty Plus subscription applies to a specific group of advanced features and specialized server categories for certain Legacy Lifetime accounts. Your base VPN service remains active, but features such as P2P/torrent servers, streaming-labeled servers, manual protocol selection, split tunneling/App Exceptions, and Optimal Server are handled through Loyalty Plus now. We’re sorry this changed the value you expected from the Lifetime plan.

When a Lifetime Subscription is a anything but that

I was a happy Lifetime Subscriber for almost 10 years, until this week when I started to get a popup in the app asking me to pay a new, additional 'Loyalty Plus' monthly sub to get access to some new, advanced features (though what these were wasn't specified). It was only once I was using the VPN and went to switch to a faster server that I noticed lots of the servers I've always had access to were now inaccessible and listed as 'Loyalty Plus only". It was them that I realised I'd been done - a Lifetime Subscription was no longer for a lifetime of use - they had decided to take many of the things they'd lured me in with in 2017 and stick them on a new premium tier that I'd have to cough up for, which was laughingly offered at a special price to reward my 'loyalty'.

Then the final slap in the face - this new sub wouldn't be requested from all existing Lifetime Subscription customers. Turns out that because I'd bought my Lifetime Subscription at a special reduced price they were offering at the time, I was to be punished. Those who missed that deal and paid a higher LIfetime Sub price have been judged more loyal and they will keep all of the features that I am losing.

I'm disgusted - and now they are making feeble excuses for the way they have treated loyal users (and I've recommended them to everyone I know for years too). I don't want to hear excuses. I paid for a VPN Unlimited Lifetime Subscription 9 years ago because of the features included in that subscription offer, and I was swayed towards VPN Unlimited over the other providers because of the special price it was being offered at to lure you aware from signing up for a lifetime sub with them.

By all means charge extra if new additional features are introduced - don't charge extra to keep the ones you signed up for and have always had.

Well, your loss KeepSolid. Rather than pay a "Loyalty Plus" to you I've now signed up to NordVPN for the next 2.5 years - why would I pay you for an additional "Loyalty Plus" sub when you could decide to further paywall some of the features it offered in future & ask me to pay yet more again for a 'Loyalty Premium Plus' to get those back?

Grant, thank you for laying out exactly what happened rather than just venting - it makes it easier to respond honestly. You're right about the mechanics: this specifically targets Lifetime accounts that bought in at a steep, one-off discount, and that's exactly why it lands as a punishment rather than a perk, whatever we call it. We're not going to pretend "Loyalty Plus" is a flattering name for that. We're sorry this cost us a nearly 10-year customer and the people you'd referred - that's a real loss, not just a review.

Disappointing

Similarly to other users I was very happy with this company until the latest update. With the latest update, Keepsolid introduced a Loyalty Plus Plan where they have removed functionality unless I pay a monthly fee. This was not communicated in advance, happened overnight. I also believe the responses by KeepSolid are slightly dishonest as they keep referring only to Torrent/p2p server where in fact, the streaming servers were put behind the firewall too. For a company that deals in trust, they certainly lost mine and I won't be using their services in the future. Buyer beware.

Robin, you're right to call this out - streaming-optimized servers did move behind Loyalty Plus too, not just P2P/torrent, and we should say that plainly instead of only mentioning one part of it. Your broader ability to reach streaming services through regular servers hasn't changed, but that narrower "Streaming" server category has, and we're sorry that wasn't communicated clearly or in advance.

I bought a lifetime subscription to VPN…

I bought a lifetime subscription to VPN Unlimited. "Lifetime" meant the features included at purchase were mine, permanently.

The company has since removed torrent/P2P servers from my plan. To get them back, I'm told I need to upgrade — meaning pay more for something I already paid for.

Changing the terms after the sale is a bait and switch. A lifetime plan shouldn't mean "lifetime until we decide to charge you again." I want the features I purchased restored, or my money back.

Joe, "lifetime until we decide to charge you again" is a fair way to describe how this feels, and we're not going to argue otherwise. Bad business

Steer clear from this company.

With its VPN Unlimited product, KeepSolid baited customers with "lifetime" access to P2P torrent servers at a low one-time cost. Years later, it moved P2P access behind a paywall.

Their justification for this change essentially boils down to: “Well, this only affects our legacy customers who bought the sweet 'lifetime' deal we offered years ago. And yes, we reserve the right to change the features we offer because… END USER AGREEMENT. Sorry (not sorry) to see you go!”

Whatever the legal fine print may have said years ago, it’s bad business practice to sell customers “lifetime” access to a defined list of features and then significantly alter what that access includes years later.

Don't trust any company that would treat its customers this way.

Edit after KeepSolid's response:

It is no surprise to see the same generic talking points w/ fake empathy copied and pasted into every negative review. What they fail to mention is that they only recently labeled users like us as "Legacy Lifetime"—a move made solely to demand more money while cutting off our P2P / torrent server access without warning. If this kind of blatant bait-and-switch and tier re-categorization can happen to lifetime members, it can happen to anyone, including what they now define as "Lifetime", those who upgraded to "Loyalty Plus," and any other type of user.

Thank you for taking the time to share this, Manny. We want to be upfront about exactly what changed: your core VPN Unlimited service - the actual VPN connection you rely on every day - is fully intact and unaffected for every Lifetime customer, including you. The one specific change is that P2P/torrent servers, which used to be bundled into every Lifetime plan, are now part of a separate, optional Loyalty Plus upgrade. To be clear, this is within what our End User Agreement allows, and it's specific to Legacy Lifetime accounts that got their plan through a steep, one-off discount or reseller promotion - not every Lifetime customer is affected. We recognize that doesn't make it feel any less like a bait-and-switch if torrenting was a big part of why you purchased in the first place, and we're sorry this wasn't the experience you expected when you bought a "lifetime" plan. If you'd like, our support team at support@keepsolid.com can take a closer look at your specific account and talk through what options are available to you.

Scammy company

I don't care if the price I paid for "lifetime" was low. Lifetime is lifetime, you can't just change it to a tiered system and revoke that access now. Terrible, would not recommend this VPN.

Hi Felix, we hear the frustration, and we want to be clear about what's actually different. Your core VPN Unlimited service - the day-to-day VPN connection - hasn't been reduced at all; it remains fully active on your Lifetime plan. The specific change is that P2P/torrent servers moved from being bundled into every Lifetime plan to being part of an optional Loyalty Plus add-on. We understand that's a meaningful change if torrenting is why you purchased in the first place, and we're sorry it wasn't communicated in a way that felt fair. So disapointed.

They removed features from a Lifetime Subscription and wanted to charge for them to be restored.

Edit: The reply below was also disappointing. The 'honest context' is that you chose to sell something for a one-off price you found acceptable at the time. That's the lifetime subscription model you chose. Hiding behind the End User Agreement doesn't change what you 'sold' to your customers.

And when it comes to VPNs trust is vital. I no longer have trust in anything Keepsolid claims.

Sorry to hear this, especially since it sounds like the lifetime plan mattered to how you were actually using the service. Here's the honest context: this applies to lifetime accounts that were originally purchased at a very low, heavily discounted price compared to what the service costs to run today. Running and growing the server network, adding locations, upgrading infrastructure, keeping things secure, takes real, ongoing investment, and that cost keeps rising. Asking that specific group to contribute a small amount toward some of the more advanced features is how we're able to keep improving the service for everyone rather than letting quality slip. This is made under our End User Agreement, which we agreed to at signup and which allows us to update included features over time, so nothing here is outside what was agreed to. Your core VPN Unlimited access itself hasn't been removed, that keeps working exactly as it did. We know the reasoning doesn't erase the disappointment, and we're sorry it landed the way it did. If you'd like to go through what's affected on your specific account, reach out to support@keepsolid.com.

Lifetime subscription… apparently…

Lifetime subscription… apparently lifetime, unless features are removed.

I have been a KeepSolid lifetime subscriber for years, having paid upfront on the understanding that I was purchasing a lifetime subscription to the service and features available at the time.

Following KeepSolid’s latest update, features that were available when I originally signed up are now being restricted or removed from lifetime accounts. That is extremely disappointing for customers who paid upfront for a lifetime product.

I understand that companies need to update their services and change their pricing models, but removing or restricting features from existing lifetime customers and then effectively requiring them to pay again does not sit well with me. It feels like existing customers are being pushed towards upgrading simply to retain functionality they previously had access to.

For me, this has seriously damaged my trust in KeepSolid. There are plenty of alternative VPN providers available, and after this experience I certainly won't be recommending KeepSolid or paying them any more money.

KeepSolid has lost a lifetime customer today.

I also fully expect the usual copy-and-paste response pointing towards the Terms & Conditions. I'm sure the relevant clauses will be quoted at length, but simply having something buried in the small print doesn't make the way this has been handled any less disappointing from a customer's perspective.

If you sold customers a lifetime subscription, don't be surprised when those customers object when the features they originally paid for are subsequently taken away.

Matthew, you predicted this before we even replied, and honestly that's a fair thing to expect from a lot of companies - so let's skip the part you're bracing for. We're not going to quote the End User Agreement at you here. Plainly: some features you had under your Lifetime plan are now behind a separate Loyalty Plus option, and no, that doesn't feel good if you paid once expecting things to stay as they were. For context, this only applies to Legacy Lifetime accounts that got in through a steep, one-off discount - not every Lifetime plan, though that's obviously little comfort if yours is one of them. We're not going to argue you out of that reaction. What we can offer, if you want it, is an actual conversation about your specific account rather than another paragraph in a review thread - email support@keepsolid.com and mention this review, and we'll make sure it isn't just another form reply.

Hello, sorry to hear this. Just to clarify who this touches: it's not a change for every Lifetime customer, only for accounts that were originally purchased at a steep discount compared to our current pricing — for that group specifically, a set of advanced features now sits under our Loyalty Plus upgrade. Core VPN Unlimited access remains exactly as it was. This falls under our End User Agreement, which allows included features to be adjusted over time as we continue investing in the network. If a particular server stopped working for you, we're happy to look into it at support@keepsolid.com.

Unethical

Purchased lifetime subscription a few years ago. Keep solid has now removed most of the functionality that I and countless others purchased the lifetime package for. It is now basically a standard VPN as offered free by other platforms.

Yep, there is sneaky wording in the fine print that they reserve the right to adjust... But taking away all of the functionality is highly unethical and deceitful practice.

Edit following your response:

I appreciate the response, but this explanation is unacceptable.

The 'discount' argument is invalid. A discounted lifetime contract is still a lifetime contract. KeepSolid offered the price, we paid it, and a deal was struck. You do not get to alter the terms years later because you require more infrastructure revenue.

This is a bait-and-switch. P2P servers and other removed features were explicitly advertised as included when we made our purchase.

Retroactively classifying them as 'advanced' so you can charge me again for what we already own is entirely deceptive.

Your EUA does not supersede consumer rights.

A clause allowing you to 'update' the network does not give you legal cover to strip away paid features just to create a new premium tier.

We understand why this feels like a big shift. To be precise, this only applies to accounts bought at a significantly reduced price versus our regular plans — not Lifetime customers as a whole. For that specific group, some advanced features now require our Loyalty Plus upgrade, while the core service continues unchanged. This is allowed under our End User Agreement's provision for updating included features over time, tied to the ongoing cost of running and expanding the network. Sorry for the frustration — if there's something specific you'd like reviewed, support@keepsolid.com can help.

Criminals, do not purchase this VPN!

Criminals, do not support this VPN.
Nine years ago, I purchased a lifetime membership with this VPN company. Today, they have removed vital functionality for torrents and forced those who paid for lifetime memberships years ago to start paying again for the exact same services they were already receiving. It is criminal conduct. Do not support this company or they will screw you too.

EDIT: Based upon the response: Hiding behind the "End User Agreement" after almost 10 years is a joke. Also, after they hit me with the "loyalty upgrade", I tried to upgrade to another lifetime membership online, and paid $49.99, but it also didn't include torrents. Their support person, Vlad Didorak, told me in an email he would refund me the money. However, I've tried for several days to get a refund for this purchase and they are no longer responding to their support emails. So now they've ripped me off another $49.99. Avoid this VPN!!!

Hi Thomas, we're sorry to hear about both parts of this - the change to torrent access after nine years, and, more importantly, a refund that hasn't gone through. On the torrent point: P2P/torrent servers moved from being included in every Lifetime plan to being part of an optional Loyalty Plus upgrade, and we understand that's a real loss if torrenting was central to why you originally purchased. On the refund: that shouldn't be stuck. If it was approved, it should have been processed by now, and if something went wrong along the way, we want to find out what and fix it rather than leave you chasing it. Could you reply here or email support@keepsolid.com with your support ticket number so we can check exactly where the refund stands and get it resolved?
