Be very careful when using Kayak to book airfare. I booked airfare through one of their airlines BESTAIRFARES and this is a total scam. Shame on Kayak for referring you to a company that will take your money and never ticket your flight. It is a total offshore scam. I will NEVER again use Kayak

Horrible experience with Economy Bookings

This review is for the experience booking an car rental with Kayak provider Economy Bookings

Horrible experience never book with this company. I'had several issues with their rental provider addCar
Booking amount they charged me was only partially credited during pickup, their rental provider told me their broker fee is deducted from the booking amount
Rental provider forced me to take full supplement insurance after looking my insurance when my insurance has full liability coverage.
Class of car that was booked was not honored, instead of providing an upgrade due to unavailability I was provided a downgraded car which was in terrible shape.
Finally inspite of satifying all the drop off conditions they still haven't issued my deposit refund. Inspite of reaching several times their response is very slow two weeks delayed, incomplete and siding with their rental provider.

Stay Away from Kayak

We booked our flight via Kayak today with “Kayak Instant Book”and couldn’t receive confirmation but an email asked us to call them, They told us they couldn’t send confirmation because the price increased 24% by the airline. We had to cancel the booking. However, our credit card has been charged (pending) by the airline with the correct price. I.e. the price increased by Kayak. That is tricky. Please stay away from Kayak!!

One and done ? Not a chance !!

To start with their flight tickets are not much cheaper than booking with the airline direct. The less expensive tickets involve long layovers and often a change of airline. Meaning you would need to leave the security area collect your baggage then check in again and go through security again ! To save $50 !!! No thanks.
They have little to no flexibility. Almost impossible to change just a part of an itinerary. They insist on changing everything including the airline !
Heaven help you if you need to cancel. If you do, they will send you an e-mail advising your refund has been processed and should be returned to the card on file within 20 business days ! Over 50 business days now and I have yet to see a refund !!! This was my first and will definitely be my last dealing with Kayak. They are completely hopeless.
I am an experienced traveler and have used the other online travel services, Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz, Booking.com ,etc with little to no issue. Kayak are the epitomy of useless incompetence. Avoid using at all costs

Directed by KAYAK to a scam website.

We booked air tickets with a site that we were directed to by KAYAK, namely cheapflightsfares.com, who then emailed us that the fares had gone up by $500 before they could complete our booking. When we refused to pay the additional cost, they 'talked with a supervisor' and came back with an offer to pay $400 of this additional charge. We suspected this was a scam and cancelled our flights with them and rebooked directly with the airline at the correct rate. KAYAK needs to be aware of who they are sending people to. Others might have fallen for this SCAM!!

BAIT AND SWITCH

Beware of Crystal’s low prices. I can guarantee they are not there for you after spending time filling in all booking info. Instead, they offer higher prices as an alternative. And I can guarantee you will receive a call from their salesperson. … so frustrating!

Kayak should not allow vendors like this.

Beware of car rental Discover Cars and U-Save

I thought I had my car rental all set up for Liberia, Costa Rica in Dec.3 2024.
But, U-save/Discover cars, didn't show up to pick me up at the airport, didn't answer their phone, their office was closed until the next day ( I spent the night on their office porch in a hammock) AND when they opened they reniged on the agreed upon contracted amount and tried to get me to pay 6x the original amount. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE.

I rented a car for December 5 through…

I rented a car for December 5 through the ninth to be picked up in San Juan, Puerto Rico Carolina. I get there about I get there about almost 9 o’clock when I landed at 7:30. We had to wait almost 40 minutes for the shuttle. The shuttle was like almost at the end of the airport. We get to the car rental for me to be told that they don’t have an SUV they were going to give me a compact car. I told him this was been rented for over a little bit more than a month and a half and I want an SUV, the manager there was disgusting. She was very rude and in Spanish she said that if I didn’t like it that I can catch the bus did she know that I speak Spanish just because I’m fair and I have blonde hair doesn’t mean that I’m not Spanish surprise surprise she was in shock , they give me a 25 minutes later it was dirty. It smelled old. It was banged in the back and they had the audacity to charge me for damages insurance when I told him I didn’t need none of that. I have films. I filmed the car before I got in. I had to pull over to a Walmart or Walgreens to buy cents to put in the car it was really disgusting and I want this matter taken care of. I will never rent a car from here again so people be aware of who you rent your car they have all these extra prices without you even knowing they want to charge you $50 for an easy pass they want to charge you for insurance $11 a day for any damages , it’s a shame. It really is lesson learn and I’m not very happy with the customer service that I got at the San Juan rentals and Carolina. . Lperez

An excellent travel agent

We are looking to buy 2 airplane tickets to go from Los Angeles,CA, to Stockholm Sweeden, then Helsinki Finland; then return to Los Angeles,CA/USA from Krakow Poland.
Agent Collete of Chatdeal has been helping me effectively from beginning. She took time to explain to me in details, step by step regarding the flights and everything I should know until I feel comfortable to purchase 2 tickets for me and my wife. Her traveling knowledge is excellent. She's very friendly and patient. She is excellent in communication, either on the phone, texts, or emails.
Always did what she planed or promised.
Overall she is an outstanding travel agent, and I am fortunate to have her helping in purchasing the airplane tickets.

Never book anything through Kayak

I booked a rental car from Hertz through Kayak with prepayment. When I came to pick up the car, my prepaid reserved car was rented out and there was no replacement car. So I asked for a refund from Hertz, and Hertz told me that I had to ask the refund from Kayak since the funds never actually went to Hertz. And when I contacted Kayak, I got no chance to talk to a person and there is no option for me to get the refund since Kayak claims it is just a search engine and thus has no refund policy. Now the only option left is to dispute the charge from my credit card.

If you need to sue them use this

Use this if you need to sue them. Did this several times. Placed dates of 11- thru 11-21 and when I hit the move forward or rent button I look up top and Kayak changed the dates to Dec 10 thru Dec 17. So I clicked go back and looked at my date and they are the dates I submitted. So I again clicked book or forward and again Kayak changed my dates to thiet December dates. Did the several more time till I finally said "screw these scammers"!

who is Kayak.com.au working with?

It is good as a search engine for airfares but THE PROBLEM IS it takes you to dodgy companies that are Scammers, (such as Bravofly.) Previously Kayak took me to GoGate.com.au, if was fine. But this last one Bravofly took $500 extra.

As far as you contact the airline directly, you will be fine. If you go to Kayak's suggested companies , you might end up with a scammer.

Booked a car rental

Booked a car rental. Purchased a full protection additionally. I received my booking confirmation from their partner who was the actual merchant - no mention of any protection. Had to pay 120 EUR/day (!) additionally when I picked up my car for protection.

Never again!

Stay away from kayak! They fulfill bookings through disreputable companies. They do not send confirmations, and there is no way to communicate with them if a problem arises. I'm still trying to find someone to help me cancel the travel insurance they billed me $396 for and didn't cancel. I've spent hours and hours trying to resolve this - - no luck yet.
