One session was all it took for me
I was recently offered the opportunity to have some coaching sessions with Juli as part of her training programme. At the time, I was struggling with a dilemma around finding my purpose and questioning what I should be doing with my life in order to truly live it.
I’ll be honest: initially, I was a little hesitant. I’m in my mid-fifties and have done a great deal of spiritual and personal development work over the years, including medicine ceremonies, healing processes and a huge amount of self-reflection. So a part of me wondered what someone younger than me might be able to help me uncover that I hadn’t already explored myself.
As Juli began guiding me through the coaching questions, I could feel some inner resistance arising. I found myself thinking, “What is answering all of these questions really going to achieve?” But I’ve been around long enough to recognise that resistance is often a sign that there is something worth exploring. This opportunity had also come to me very serendipitously, so I decided to trust the process and the divine unfolding of the experience. I’m so glad that I did.
Through just one session, Juli helped me gain real clarity. She gave me a small piece of homework: to ask friends and family what they could see me doing if I were living my purpose. Their answers led to a very powerful realisation—one that gave me a genuine sense of peace.
I realised that living our purpose doesn’t necessarily have to be connected to an income stream, a career or something that generates revenue. For some of us, our purpose may come from our being—from how we show up in the world—rather than simply from what we are doing.
Through that first session, the homework and our subsequent follow-up, an analogy came to me that captured this realisation perfectly. Sometimes we are so busy sitting on the train, studying the map and wondering how many stops remain before we reach our destination, that we forget to look out of the window and realise we have already arrived. And even when we do arrive, we can forget to get off the train and give ourselves time to experience and enjoy where we are.
I now recognise that I am already at my destination. I can step off the train, look around and enjoy being exactly where I am. If another train comes along, perhaps I’ll take it and perhaps I won’t—but I no longer feel that I need to keep searching for somewhere else to be.
Working with Juli and surrendering to her process was a very powerful experience. In only a couple of sessions, she helped me explore and resolve something that had been weighing on me for some time.
I would highly recommend Juli. I would also encourage anyone who finds her appearing on their path to trust that there may be a reason for it, remain open to the process and follow where it leads.
