Rude incompetent Pest control company
We have used Jones & Sons for 29 years to do a yearly termite inspection. We inherited this service from the previous owner. As part of their contract, they will treat subterranean termites for no cost if found. Our last inspection was about a month and a half ago.
A few weeks after that inspection, our house sold. The buyer’s home inspector found termites in our attic, and apparently, we have had termites for quite some time now, as significant damage was found. Confused, I called Jones & Sons to ask them how this could have happened. The first gentleman I spoke to was just plain rude. He alleged that “no pest control companies inspect attics in Florida” as it is “too hot and they are hard to access”. I reminded him that we have a full walk-in attic with regular stairs; one would have to be well over seven feet not to be able to stand up straight in there. Then he said that they don’t inspect for wood termites because they are not covered by the contract. That makes no sense. Every year I have what is titled a “termite inspection”. It isn’t called a “subterranean termite inspection”. And if the wood termites had been found, we would have paid to have the issue taken care of. Am I supposed to hire a separate company to do a wood termite inspection?
As proof of his erroneous claim, just go to their website. Their video clearly shows one of their inspectors in an attic looking at wood with a flashlight. To add insult to injury, I requested numerous times that the owner call me; my emails were ignored, and I never received a call. I have also had problems with them in the past. At one inspection, the man refused to go under the house in the crawl space like every other inspector from Jones & Son’s had done for the past 10+ years. He too was very rude, and stated in a nasty manner that he didn’t have to go in the crawl space to figure out if we had subterranean termites. Why I stuck with this company, I have no idea. Don’t make the same mistake.
