I regularly go to the St Albans branch to a warm welcome. I can give anecdotal advocations for Uzor and Sam with repairs and trainer cleaning respectively. They are both truly wizards!

Don’t use this Dry Cleaners. The Wilmslow branch left a red fibre tip pen in the machine from a previous wash (so clearly don’t check or clean between washes) and my white wash is completely ruined.... See more

Terrible Service, Item Returned Damaged, Failed Promise

I recently took my coat in for cleaning and the dry cleaner ruined the fur hood. The item was returned to me severely damaged (shrunken, curled, and singed).

They asked me to send the item back for inspection and attempted repair, but the fur was returned still clearly damaged.

The company promised that they would ensure I was fully satisfied, either through a successful repair or appropriate compensation. However, they have failed to honor this commitment, offering only unacceptable solutions (like depreciated, second-hand value) instead of fair compensation for the nearly-new item they damaged.

They have shown a complete disregard for customer satisfaction and service quality. I wish I had known about this lack of professional care beforehand. Avoid this dry cleaner at all costs.

Appallng lack of concern for my garments. 2 pairs of trouser were not even cleaned. They came back musty and more creased than when I put them in. I used Waitrose as the agent because of their link with Johnson but never again. I contacted Johnsons but nothing but an automated email in response. Really poor service and even worse customer focus

Update (26/7/25)
I heard from Johnsons, who tried to gaslight the Waitrose staff by saying they should have offered to re-clean the garments that had clearly not been cleaned in the first place. Avoid Johnsons as they really don`t look after your garments and, judging from my experience, sadly have no respect for their customers.

Appalling service - couldn’t care less

My husband put in an expensive velvet dress to the Straiton Edinburgh branch. On checking the dress the woman pointed out some stains and that the hem was down. My husband agreed these and paid for a dry clean and for the hem to be put up. On getting the dress back there was a clear iron mark on the back of it. On returning it was denied that an iron had been anywhere near the dress. Latterly one of the ladies in the shop admitted that a trainee had worked on the dress but had been closely supervised. The impression my husband got was that they couldn’t do anything to help and frankly they couldn’t have cared less. Asked that we wait for the woman who took the dress in to be back at work. Given the intransigence experienced, there was no point to that. People in these jobs should care about people having a great service, they don’t. Avoid this firm if you can. We certainly won’t be back. Disgraceful service.

Incredible service and the staff were very honest and very very helpful too. Unfortunately I put two pairs of Crombie 100% wool trousers in the washing machine which looked like they were ruined but Johnsons brought them back to life again. Fantastic service and thanks for reviving my Crombie trousers it’s appreciated. I recommend Johnsons at Asda, Bawtry Road Branch.

Dear Chloe,

Dear Chloe,

Thank you for your latest reply.

However, as you can see from my comments I’ve been in contact with the Customer Services Team. I’ve explained that their report is flawed and they have failed to comment on the extent of the shrinkage- the blinds are no longer usable.

Their response is that I need to commission my own report if I don’t accept yours. This is extraordinary when you consider the points I’ve made to them and on this platform. I’m still amazed at the lack of comment on the photos sent and point made on measurements. I’m left with no alternative but to obtain a report and consider the small claims court.

Kind regards,

Dropped in a shirt, hugely dissapointed!

Dropped in a shirt & suit just before Christmas for Christmas dinner in a restaurant with the family. When I collected, I didn't think to check the items because you have faith in the provider and Waitrose! However, on te day in the hotel, I unwrapped the items only to find the same stains on the cuff and neck of the shirt. Suit was fine! The shirt had a red wine stain on the front, which they removed. However, it was as if they'd forgotten to do the cuffs and neck, ruining the day! I had to sit in a dirty shirt! When I returned it to Waitrose, all they could do was apologise with a warm smile! They sent it back, and again, it was returned to me with the same stains! The manager at Waitrose Eastbourne explained to me that they don't do the dry cleaning, (Durh!) In the end, I informed him that I expected better from Waitrose and vowed never to use the services of Johnsons dry cleaning, to which he raised an eyebrow and smiled politely! First time user and sadly disappointed, but hey ho, we live & learn!

Poor service

Took a jacket in as I’d had a problem with an iron on patch that had left a lot of residue on it. I was told that not all of it may come off, and that there may be some discolouration to it, all of which I agreed to and was fine with. I was asked to pay on the spot (£14) which I was happy to do, and received a text the next day to collect. The jacket was returned to me in exactly the same condition without even being washed (if the residue couldn’t come off, I’d at least expect this), and I’m out a decent chunk of change for no reason. The employee did not express that it was a service they could not deliver, and if they were unsure I’d have expected payment on collection once they’d established what they could do. Unimpressed with the service and the staff weren’t welcoming.

Expensive dresses ruined

Took two dresses into a Waitrose branch to be dry cleaned via Johnson’s, both of which were brand new and worn one for a wedding. Upon picking up the dresses and bringing them home I discovered they were completely ruined. One dress, the zip was snapped and marks still on the dress and the other had more marks on the dress then originally sent in with. I am now nearly 2 months on and without either of my dresses or even a refund of dry cleaning charges. Customer service is absolutely appealing! Avoid using Johnson’s dry cleaners at all costs if you would like to keep your dresses!

DO NOT USE.

Wasted 2 months waiting for 2 zips to be done only to be told today that they cannot do it. That is after it was returned after 2weeks with nothing done, a refund given and promised the job would be done as a gesture of goodwill.

Ruined my suit jacket!

Ruined my suit jacket and blamed it on moths, took it in for a dry clean it's now unwearable!
Went to a few other places and they all agreed that there is no way the damage was caused by moths, it looked more like abrasion. The lady on the desk at the Lancaster branch in Asda agreed that it was in perfect condition and moths wouldn't of caused the damage!
After a 3 week wait for the investigation, I'm told there's nothing they will do. The blazer was only 6 months old, was always kept in a sealed bag and has only been worn twice! Absolutely disgusted with this place, will never use them again! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Johnson's in Alnwick Wonderful Ladies

Johnson's in Alnwick; Much more than a 5* service. A big, big thank you to Julie and Mel for their excellent service. Julie went above and beyond to help out. My elderly mother had arranged to have her curtains cleaned at Johnson's. Julie had spoken to her and advised her on what needed to happen & the timings to clean 4 pairs of curtains. The task had to wait until I was visiting (I live nearly 400 miles away). A variety of unexpected circumstances made the task of getting the curtains to the shop difficult. The curtains then had to be processed in a shorter than preferred time period.
The cleaning of the curtains was completed ahead of time meaning that I did not have a rush to put them back up before I left.
I really cannot thank Julie enough, not many people would have gone the extra mile that she and Mel did.
Ladies; you are stars.
