Do not ask them to install an en-suite
Johnsons installed our en-suite in February 2024.There were so many issues and poor workmanship, they had to return to our property many times to rectify the issues. They provided us with a shower door FOC and a Gas report which we assume was due to the fact we had had so many issues with their work. However, the worst issue was that they installed our shower pump incorrectly, which invalidated our warranty and made the pump splutter. Johnsons blamed it on the pump but we had evidence from the pump manufacturer that Johnsons had installed it wrongly. Johnsons then installed a different make of pump, again incorrectly, and then a third pump. Not only was this third pump installed incorrectly but according to the Pump manufacturer, it was the wrong pump! Despite the fact we had informed Johnsons after the first pump had malfunctioned, that it was installed incorrectly according to the manufacturer, they still installed the two others incorrectly. We sent them evidence from the pump manufacturers which proved they had installed the pumps incorrectly and also we had two other Heating companies view our pump and clarified the same issues. When we asked Johnsons to explain why they had continued to install our pumps incorrectly, they didn't answer but just stated that they have plenty of happy customers and that they had provided us with a free door. When we asked again about the incorrect installation of the pumps, again they didn't answer and threatened us with their solicitors if we got in touch with them again. Bearing in mind that their work warranty was a year, and this was still within that time period, it meant that they had reneged on their warranty. As Johnsons had the Guild of Mastercraftsmen logo on their website, we approached the Guild, only to find that Johnsons are not members! However, the Guild had read our complaint and suggested we approach Trading Standards. We have photos, Whatsapp messages, emails from two Pump Manufacturers and other evidence which shows what an appalling job had been done.
It is worrying, is it not, that Johnsons have now admitted that they did not follow the guidelines, despite knowing that this would invalidate the warranty. Without an Non-stop Essex flange and anti-gravity loop, the pump will fail. Johnsons tried to blame the failure on the pump itself and also on our electrics. If you wish to see photographic evidence of Johnson's workmanship, please see my review on Google Reviews. This review is not trying to engage with Johnsons, but to inform the public of how they install showers and how they treat their customers.
I also notice that they have removed the Guild of Mastercraftsmen logo from their website, and are now looking for a new Gas fitter.
