I recently had 3 flights with JetStar…
I recently had 3 flights with JetStar within 8 weeks time. Flight 1: 30+ hours delayed. Flight 2: 6 hours delay due to „engineering“ which has been announced last minute and extended salami-wise so people had to stick around. Both delays lead to extra costs for me as I had hotels booked which I was not able to cancel last minute.
Now at the airport again for flight 3. I was prepared this time and booked the hotel only 60 minutes before the flight as it looked like everything would be on time according to the airport announcement. But, again: boarding is delayed until further notice due to „engineering“. Most people booked on the flight have connections which they will miss. So this is either bad luck on my side or a pattern showing the incompetence of this airline. I will avoid JetStar in the future as everyone else should do.

Had the worst experience flying from Gold Coast to Nz with Jetstar. I was able to check in my dad’s flight but when it came to checking my son and I in, the website wouldn’t let me. We get to the airport and only one information desk operator on duty with a huge line up. We waited in line to then be told we are 10mins late to check in and now being charged $300 for the next available flights being 2 days later. Ultimately we would have made it had there been other staff on desk. Fast forward 2days later we manage to check in to then being told we now owe $210 for luggage that were not overweight. The woman dealing with us had no time to listen to anything we said nor did she care we were changed from previous flights. This was the worst airline I’ve ever had to fly. Never again!! Just appalling service from the beginning to end of flight.

Jetstar has to be the most unreliable, poorly run airline I have ever dealt with. One of my flights was delayed for a mind-blowing 28 HOURS. That’s not a delay — that’s a complete collapse of operations. No real explanations, no proper updates, nothing but chaos and passengers left in limbo.
And just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, another flight got delayed 2 HOURS. At this point, it’s clear Jetstar has no idea how to run an airline. Zero organisation. Zero communication. Zero respect for customers.
They wasted an entire day of my life, destroyed my plans, drained my energy, and left everyone stressed, angry, and exhausted. Jetstar treats your time like it’s worthless.
Honestly, flying with them felt like a joke — except no one’s laughing.
If you value basic reliability, don’t even consider Jetstar.

Never again – bounced between Jetstar & Mix and Match with no accountability
I booked a 6:45am Jetstar flight through Mix and Match, and four days later my itinerary arrived changed to 6:00pm without explanation or approval.
I contacted Mix and Match, who told me to call Jetstar.
Jetstar told me there was no change and if I wanted the original morning flight (the one I actually booked), I’d need to pay $75 booking fee + $75 change fee, Flexi or not. I checked online and could get the flight cheaper myself – only then did Jetstar suddenly offer to match the price.
When I proved I had booked the morning flight (thankfully I screenshot everything), Jetstar told me to go back to Mix and Match because they couldn’t change it. I went back to Mix and Match, who then told me they can’t do anything either, that I need to call Jetstar in the morning and pay the difference. What difference? I’d be paying more than my original booking, despite proof.
Mix and Match say it’s Jetstar’s problem. Jetstar say it’s a Mix and Match issue.
I’m stuck in the middle, paying for their mistakes.
Should’ve stuck with Air NZ like I always do. Thought I’d try something different – never again.
No ownership, no resolution, no care for the customer at all.
Terrible ground staff
Terrible check in staff , rude. No empathy at all. The staff on the check in counter was disrepectful, I was still talking and she just cut me off. My flight was delayed, no clear explanation from them, with long queue .Would never fly with this airline again.
Horrific customer service
Jetstar wanted to charge us AUD700 to change a first name on a booking that was clearly an autocorrect error. Customer service hung up on us 3 times and wasted hours on hold for them to only hang up on us. Horrific. Will never ever book with them again

Appauling experience on an 8 hr flights
I accidentally put my wallet into my checked baggage so boarded by 8 hrs flight from Bangkok to Melbourne without cash. I was unaware that Jetstar is a budget airline and stuplidly assumed water, hot drinks, blankets, food and on screen entertainment would be included!
As I had no money I was only allowed one glass of water the whole journey; it was freezing "it's because you're near a door" - but my request to warm the cabin was denied....'you can buy a blanket, but you cannot borrow one". I ended up using literature to line my top to try and keep warm. No hot drinks available as no funds! On arrioval in Australia I contracted bronchitis and spent my whole trip laid up on strong antibiotics - being informed by the doctor I was close to developing pneumonia. Luckily for the return leg of my trip I was prepared. However - I will NEVER fly jet star again. This was a long flight, not a short hop & my comfort & wellbeing was completely ignored. Oh yes, my baggage then did not arrive to my forward destination.

I wish there was an option to give 0 stars. They don’t even deserve 1. Our flight was delayed then cancelled last minute- the free replacement flight was offered for two days later. Two days later than we needed to be there. No compensation, not even a sorry. Avoid, pay more for another airline and don't get let down.

NEVER NEVER EVER AGAIN. Now 3 hours late, and a $10.00 voucher. Yes there Weston’s but checking Melbourne Airport most other flights from Sydney were delayed one hour. They are consistently awful - wil never ever fly with them again

I very rarely leave a negative review for anything, however I would just like to warn fellow passengers strongly against booking Jetstar flights via Trip.com.
I booked a flight to Melbourne from Sydney via Trip.com, due to work obligations I'd booked rather late so the cost was already $450+. Three hours before the flight it was cancelled. I called Trip.com immediately and requested to be put onto any of the later evening or next morning flights that would enable me to make my $200+ concert. Despite the fact I could see that these flights were still available to book onto and had seats, Trip.com advised me that Jetstar does not allow them to put me onto any of these flights. They said my only option was to cancel and re-book the flights which they had hiked up to $650+ for a round trip!. They have no obligation to get you on the next available flight or ability to do so. And to make matters even worse both Trip.com and Jetstar refused, despite my protests to give me the refund for the original flights in anything but airline vouchers for Jetstar. This is despite me speaking to them on the phone several times and raising my complaints. The issue of course being that I would have no intention to use Trip.com or Jetstar again in the future. Incredibly greedy business practices from Jetstar and Trip.com unable to do anything useful.
The one thing that I would say is that the Trip.com phonelines were very quick to get through to and the staff were very pleasant, if entirely unable to assist.
Certainly won't be using either company again once these vouchers are spent.

I booked a flight with Jetstar and paid an extra 15kg for my baggage. I didn’t understand that it was only for checked baggage, and when I got to the boarding counter they made me pay 80 NZD for supposedly a ‘cabin bag’ which they ended up putting in the hold. I travel a lot and it’s the first time I’ve been ripped off like this. I’ve been to several countries and never had any problem. Cheap tickets, no wonder… real thieves

When did Jetstar start weighing all bags - hand and cabin- to assess 7kg limit? And if one is over the limit charge them double – $75 (the cost online is $35) for their patronage. Fly Virgin.

Jetstar cancelled flight at short notice. Had to stay overnight in Sydney and miss a day's holiday. Rebooked flight out was then 2 hours delayed (terrible comms - no announcements etc). The app to claim keeps stalling- have tried to speak to customer service and they send me back to app. Want reimbursement for out of pocket as well as compensation. Wish me luck. I note they're "Powered by Sales-Farce!"
