I underwent surgery with Professor…
I underwent surgery with Professor James Byrne at Spire in 2022 and have been left in ongoing pain ever since. When I repeatedly raised concerns about complications, I was met with dismissiveness and a refusal to provide appropriate aftercare.
Despite making it clear that I could not travel to Southampton due to my condition, Professor Byrne offered no suitable alternatives—no closer clinics, no meaningful follow-up—just instructions to go back to my GP, who of course referred me straight back to him. This created a loop where nothing was done, and my symptoms worsened.
I feel this deliberate lack of action was designed to delay until the legal limitation period expired, leaving me without recourse. At no point did Professor Byrne take responsibility or show genuine concern for my recovery.
Now, years later, I am still living with the consequences while the surgeon who operated on me has walked away without accountability.
If you value proper aftercare and a surgeon who will stand by their patients when things go wrong, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
