IRS is Incompetent

Filed my 2025 return on 3/6/26 with no status in 6 weeks. Can't email, if you call, its entirely automated and if you try to speak with someone the call is disconnected.
Ive been unemployed for 9 months and need my refund to pay bills and purchase Rx medications (including insulin).
Don't see why I should lose my house, have my power shut off or die because I can't purchase medications. Are we permitted to charge daily interest for delays just as the IRS charges interest for delayed payments from people?

Pretending to work at your expense

10-15min queue wait, then the rep answers and sets me down for another 10 minutes without a word. I'm saying hello, can you hear me, and so on but they don't respond at all. They don't even bother muting themselves either, so you hear no work being done and the occasional clack of a keyboard. After about 10 minutes, I start asking what job they're actually doing if they've got me on hold like a d**khead, and they immediately hang up, proving they were listening all along. That's the kind of person that makes me wish The Purge was very real.

Wait times 2 plus hours

Wait times 2 plus hours, no real help available, one change is a wait of 4 to 12 weeks. Got disconnected after an hour on the phone just to start over again. I have logged dates, video record of calls for a running time stamp of how long it takes to get a person on the line, have names and badge numbers for each call. If I owe money I am subjected to huge penalties and interest but if the IRS owes me money I have to wait 4 to 12 weeks. The website is a mess and consistently incorrect. Payments received not showing. Believe it or not married filing jointly causes huge problems when owing because the IRS will put one spouse as Primary one year and the next year the Spouse is Primary. So you have this Primary and Secondary going per the IRS for yearly filings that does not combine as jointly when making payments. It's a huge mess on the taxpayer. Every year my husband is the taxpayer and every year I am the spouse but the IRS gets it twisted to make it difficult in payments received. I cannot believe as a tax payer that my paid taxes fund such an incompetent federal government agency. The IRS representatives are no help and give you non-sense information to get you off the phone. The can I put you on a brief hold for 5 to 7 minutes all thru our the call is a waste of time. Filed a Form911 for a tax advocate...another 30 day wait just to see if they will respond and it's up to their discretion to even help you. Not even an automated response that your form has been received. Just wait the 30 days before you call. The hardship in wait times, lack of knowledge in helping the tax payer and the weeks on end in hopes of a remedy is disgusting. Treasury Dept website is down so no complaints can be filed and they do not answer the phone as well. I am so sick and tired of federal government offices. Social security is just as messy. They want people to give up. I refuse. I'll call every day if I have to too. Fix it!!! Better yet...I hope Trump fires them all!!!!!!

Did you know that the IRS will not help…

Did you know that the IRS will not help you with your taxes even when you have made an appointment with them. I found errors in my returns were I did not report income and owed the IRS money. I was prepared to pay my taxes at my appointment but was told take my taxes returns and pay to have them done. I'm so confused, I self disclose my tax errors to the IRS and would have wrote a check on the spot, but was told take them to a income tax company and have them do it.

The IRS acts just like a thief that has been caught. They will take our without verification so why would you keep my money for 9;weeks after I verified it. Calling the IRS is like calling an ex out of the man's house she has been cheating with. Yup no answer!! Wait half hour and get this Everytime. I'm not cheating 🤣. Is can't see your information and it probably wouldn't give me that anyway. And then tell you some crazy amount of weeks you have to wait. IRS stop cheating people!! Stop being crooks!! Oh yeah PA. Fix your freaking streets. I had to put a ramp in front of a moon crater on the highway. Maryland uses their money right and smooth highway. Good ole Delaware again smooth ole highway. PA. Helmet ramps and learn how to do figure eights on your motorcycle in your car esp in your motorized wheelchair. I've seen vehicles flip, disappear, lose front ends, Even end up in parallel universes hitting them potholes.

Absolute shit

Absolute shit! This is what our taxpayer money affords us! they take our money and they can't even answer the damn phone! They have 10 years to go back on us and take our money but we only have 3 years to get a refund! I was not able to file my taxes during covid because they mailed out one of those pins and it never worked! I tried and tried to get a hold of someone at the IRS with no luck. Then when I finally get a hold of someone they tell me if I don't have that letter I can't file my taxes! Well by then I had lost my house and it was in storage somewhere! So I didn't get my refunds I didn't get any of the stimulus money basically totally screwed by the IRS! Oh but you better have their damn money or they'll put you in jail!

My dealings with the IRS

My dealings with the IRS, as a foreign national seeking an EIN, were brief but incredibly positive. The gentleman at the other end of the phone, a certain Bill Witt, (hope I spelt that correctly) was an absolute delight to work with: polite, friendly, efficient, and succinctly informative. I can't actually envisage a more satisfyingly replete level of customer service. Kudos to Bill and kudos to the IRS for having the sense to make sure they kept hold of a seriously solid human asset.
