He's a Chartered Accountant (CA), qualified Mountain Leader (ML) and a Churchill Fellow. In his keynote talk 'Follow Your Dreams' Ricky describes his incredible journey from a council estate in Glasgow to the top of the world on his successful ascent of the world's highest mountain - Mount Everest. During that long journey, he faced and overcame adversity and mental health challenges - being arrested twice, dropping out of University twice, and being made redundant during his accountancy training. He bounced back and overcame redundancy by completing the Marathon des Sables, a 150-mile ultramarathon in the Sahara desert known as the ‘toughest footrace on earth’. This experience transformed his mindset and gave him the confidence and determination to follow his own dreams. Follow your dreams with Inspire Alpine!

A brilliantly inspiring Guest Speaker
Ricky was a brilliant guest speaker for our networking event - he was engaging, really interesting to listen to for a lengthy period of time and provided just the right type of insight to get our guests talking for hours afterwards. In the lead up to the event we were able to understand what we would need to provide on the evening to ensure it all ran smoothly - Ricky kept in touch and was a joy to interact with from start to finish.
If you want some inspiration look no further
What a great tale Ricky has to tell of his life so far. So many twists and turns, he had us captivated. A great example of how understanding what drives you can lead you to do some pretty awesone things!
Inspiring for so many different types of audience!
Thanks Ricky for a superb talk at our client event yesterday. What's interesting to me is how relevant your talk is to so many people. Obviously yesterday was an audience of business owners and they were inspired and entertained but equally one of the actions I took down was for me to introduce you to my local high school where my kids go. Your message is, in my view, critical for young kids to hear too. Thanks once again!

I paid a deposit for the Welsh 3000s trip which did not happen. I received no communication from the company, despite trying to contact them on several occasions and via several forums. I have reported this company to the fraud department of my bank. Avoid at all costs!

Ben Nevis Ascent
Where do I begin?
We chose Inspire Alpine for our first ever ascent of Ben Nevis, and we are ever grateful we did.
For me, Nevis isn't just something you go out and "do" on a whim, it takes planning and preparation, it is after all, the UK's highest peak, and people run into trouble for various reasons.
We got in touch, set up a chat with the guide, and talked through or fitness levels (low), and the potential dates, and persons in the party for the ascent.
Once the date was set, there was no looking back!
Ricky monitored the weather prior to the ascent and recommended we started early, due to having young ones amongst us, and factoring in the hot weather, we set off at 06:30 at the pre arranged meeting point.
The ascent itself was awesome, we were fortunate enough to experience this on a dry day with excellent visibility. The climb was tiresome but achievable, Ricky would give us little helping tips (to us as beginners) such as making full contact with the soles of our boots rather than bounding up on the balls of our feet, this allowed us to gently stretch the calf muscle without putting too much strain on our lower legs.
We were offered short but regular breaks to make the climb manageable. Once at the top, Ricky helped us take some snaps as this was definitely a Kodak moment!
The decent was something I'll not forget.
We were tired, slow and cumbersome going down, and my 11yo son had wobbly knees.
Ricky recognised the sustained exposure to heat and sun would cause further issues should we allow him to continue with very slow steps back down. In this, his advice was to offer support on either side, stabilising his body weight, allowing him to descend concentrating on footing, not falling. This clearly managed decision was a life saver, as my son could've and would've worsened with fatigue and heat exhaustion.
We got him down to the cooling water falls where he regained his composure. Thank you Ricky.
On the final quarter, my 9yo son complained of light headedness and feeling giddy. Having seen his eyes rolling, my wife and I asked for Ricky's best advice, which was, he'd accelerate the descent with my son to get him out the Sun's unforgiving heat and into shelter down below. To which again, I have no doubt, that without Ricky's expertise and guidance, we could have ran into a medical emergency. As a family, we feel indebted to Ricky, for his professionalism, his guidance, and that he guided us up together and back down safely.
I would recommend Inspire Alpine, on every occasion, and we as a family trust Ricky for all his help and advice on this memorable trip.

The speaker gave an inspirational account of his personal struggles with his self esteem and goals in life and was a superb story to motivate our students just after receiving their internal examination results.
A truly inspiring talk by Ricky
A truly inspiring talk by Ricky, enjoyed by students and staff alike.
Ricky was able to engage with even the most challenging students because he was very 'real'. This is not a story about something that has just come easily but a dream achieved through hard work and determination.
Now more than ever, young people are needing to learn to be resilient and look after both their mental and physical well-being.
As a school we encourage all students to follow their Super North Star and so the theme of Follow Your Dreams fit perfectly with our ethos.
I would highly recommend booking this talk as it will apply to anyone, whatever stage they are at in life. I certainly have plenty of takeaway messages that I will be applying to my own up-coming challenges.

Rickys presentation was very informative and engaging for the students and staff. He spoke clearly and concisely, so the students could follow and understand.
The ethos of the talk was clear and concise, 'don't be afraid to follow your dreams and failure is only a strength to succeed'. Coleg Cambria would like to thank Ricky for this excellent presentation.
Wow! Fantastic talk by Ricky Munday
On 18th March, Ricky gave a talk to 170 PHE Midlands staff about following our dreams and overcoming obstacles. His account of his experiences in the Marathon des Sables and his 2017 and 2018 Everest attempts (and succcess in 2018) had us all totally gripped from start to finish. Feedback from staff has been tremendous and everyone so appreciated Ricky's openness and honesty about how he had overcome the various obstacles during his life and achieved such fantastic things. Had we all been in the same room, it would have been "pin drop" quiet - as it was, the comments on the Teams chat expressed everyone's appreciation of this incredible story. We also appreciated what Ricky is trying to do in terms of supporting young people to achieve their goals and are keen to do all we can to support this. Thanks for a wonderful and memorable talk.
An overall fantastic enterprise with great people.
We invited Ricky to speak and help launch one of our virtual fundraising events last year. He was brilliant, and his story inspired many our of team to participate in the Virtual Three Peaks challenge. He provided support and advice along the way, setting up and maintaining the various customised platforms.
Such was the success, we have recently asked Ricky to assist in launching another event to help keep everyone fit and in good spirits during the lockdown! I would highly recommend Inspire Alpine to anyone looking to explore future team building or social/charity initiatives.
An Astonishing and Moving Story
This was a truly memorable talk from an extraordinary man. So often this kind of talk can be so much waffle. But Ricky’s story is straight from the heart and with no holds barred. He is disarmingly honest about the hurdles he has had to overcome, and that still exist. His achievements are immense but there is no sense of bravado in how he talks about them; humility and passion for what he does. It’s quite evident that he had us all enthralled , and inspired. The story of his attempts on Everest was terrifying and thrilling in equal measure. All in all a fantastic story.
A great motivational speech.
it was really inspirational the store of Richy Munday. Encouraging people to follow their dreams.
Many thanks
Ricky's presentation to French Duncan (January 2021)
A truly inspiring talk on what human endeavour can achieve and how resilient the human spirit can be.

Ricky provided a fascinating in-depth experience of his Everest climb, and his life story from a council estate in Glasgow to the top of the world. His perseverance and resilience are truly inspirational and relevant to all aspects of life.

Ricky informed us of his story and the challenges he faced from his early days all the way through to the recent Covid-19 pandemic. This was nothing short of inspiring. To understand the scale of the challenges faced by Ricky was incredible to the extent that it left me thinking why can I not push myself too as this was one of the main messages I picked up on. Thank you to Ricky for an incredibly positive experience and definitely something that will stick in my head for a long time.
