Expectations of vehicle reached - Staff service improvement required!
Overall expectations reached. We booked caravan from Milan Malpensa Indie Campers. At Check in stage: the van was delivered to us two hours late, in an unclean condition (toilet area was stained, floor was stained, cushions stained), towels were NOT provided even though we booked them beforehand; exterior of the van, especially the windscreen, was very stained and we had to clean it with a dish scrubber), the van did not have a full tank of water - all of these are a clear indication that there is no checklist conducted to ensure that the vehicle is in tip top condition for the upcoming renters to be handed over ON TIME. Not all additional fees were explained to us at check in stage. The staff were cutting corners and fastening the processes without explaning to us and going through the contract. Check out stage was straightforward.

we rented an Indie camper van in Norway for 16 days, in May. We had visited the Indie depot in Christchurch, which had been open for 3 yrs. The German vans were really well built and appointed.
The van we rented in Tromso was 8 yrs old, had not been adequately maintained or cleaned. We knew what the charges were before we picked up, but for the uninitiated, they are savage- one way fee, prep fees, everything you need is charged as an extra. Even towel rental is 4x the new price and what was provided was well past its useful life. They charge for a new gas bottle, which is actually the one left by the previous renter, and may or may not have gas left- a rort.
The business model of this world wide business is to do as little maintenance as possible and extract as much from the client as possible
To their credit, the on line AI generated call enter is prompt, although the answer might not be what you expect.
There are more reliable outfits in Germany offering much better equipped vans
It is clear from the spread of reviews that some countries /locations perform much better than others, so be mindful of that when looking at reviews.

My original review was removed so to keep it simple with the Naples collection and now updated for the full experience:
- van had no mosquito screen, awning but had a step down
- we asked for a change and offered to clean another van. We were told a couple of lies about vans not being what we had ordered but proved the person on site wrong. So mosquito screen ( essential) , no step down from the side (got more painful and annoying) and no awning (too hot at times to sit out of the van)
- waste water. Light didn’t work and the draining mechanism failed. So spent time under the van and got nowhere except dirty. Support good, but we ended up with a van with sinks and shower unusable
- no gas as standard (on top of shower and sinks) so had to pay extra and were told to return it full by online support
- bedding was two duvet covers and two pillow covers that didn’t fit the pillows. Thanks
So altogether I paid for items I didn’t get, the van was poor and lower standard than previously so really disappointed.
Individuals good, overall company terrible
The only highlight from the company end was Jose, the manager of the depot I picked up from. He was so communicative, helped walked me through the whole vehicle, and helped me catalogue all prior damage before hand so that I wouldn’t be blamed for it when o turned it in, and was just a very friendly calming presence.
That being said, The customer service and communication with this company is abysmal. My pickup location was advertised as an airport pick up, however the day before my trip I was finally told that the actually address was an hour away from the airport. Not only that, I didn’t learn that the essentials kit that I paid for would not be there until I was already flying in. Now while I was refunded for this, it meant I left valuable kitchen supplies and cleaning supplies I could have used at home and had to buy new ones my trip just to eat. The only way to contact them is an AI service chat, which is not super helpful. If they do connect you with an actual agent, expect to wait anywhere from 20 min to multiple hours. I contacted them at 4:30pm about my drop off time the next day, and did not receive a response until around 2 am after I had gone to sleep and they did not fix the issue.
Just for peace of mind I wouldn’t book with this company. They seem very convenient, but depending on the depot employees it could turn this into an ok experience, like mine, or a nightmare
