This Image to Image tool is Genuinely useful — not just another AI toy

I run a small design studio and honestly, I've been pretty skeptical about most "AI image generators" out there. Tried a handful of them over the past year and the results were always too random — you'd upload a product photo expecting a clean background swap and get back something that looked nothing like the original.

Img2Img (img2img-ai.com) actually surprised me. The image-to-image workflow is straightforward: upload your source, write what you want changed, and it keeps the parts that matter. I first tested it with a client's jewelry photos — asked it to replace the plain white background with a warm marble surface. The result was clean enough to send to the client directly after minor touch-ups in Photoshop. That almost never happens before.

A few things I particularly appreciate:

No sign-up wall for the free tier. I could test the tool before committing anything. That built a lot of trust right away.
The before/after comparison is built in, which saves me from switching between tabs to check if the output actually matches my source.
The model selection is a real highlight. They offer a bunch of different AI models — not just one — and you can easily switch between them to run the same photo through different engines. I spent a genuinely fun hour just feeding the same jewelry shot to different models to see how each one interpreted my prompt. Some kept the colors more faithfully, others were more creative with the lighting. It's like a tasting menu for AI image generation, and it really helps you figure out which model suits your specific use case before committing credits.
It's not perfect — the free model is limited to 1:1 ratio and lower resolution, so for anything client-facing I do need to use credits. And generation can take a moment depending on the queue. But honestly, for the price per image it's very reasonable compared to what I was paying elsewhere.

If you're a designer, content creator, or just someone who needs to transform existing images (not generate from scratch), this is one of the few tools that actually gets the "image TO image" part right. Most competitors are really just text-to-image generators with an upload button bolted on.
