We were booked on a 21 day Discover…
We were booked on a 21 day Discover Cambodia/Vietnam. The day before our departure I took ill and was transported to hospital via ambulance where they found a blockage in my Biliary (lower abdomen) area. Following an operation, getting internal infections twice requiring weeks in hospital I was then advised that the tumour causing the blockage was malignant. So all things being considered, I have had 3.5 months of hell.
We advised Imagine Cruising of my delamour immediately thinking that we should be able to rebook for another time, only to be told they take no responsibility and rebooking is not an option, claim through your Travel Insurance. We did this but lost $6,000 which was for the two boat trips, which we did not see in the fine print. They would not co-operate with the Insurer. Their comment was ‘we have paid for your trip and can not get that back, BOLLICKS!! Every thing is negotiable, how come other companies can do it, does that mean they pocketed our payment? Would we use Imagine Cruising again, not a chance.

Firstly, we are very sorry to hear about the serious health issues you experienced prior to your departure and sincerely wish you the very best with your ongoing recovery.
As your booking was made through your travel agent, all documentation and information relating to your cancellation was provided directly to them, including the insurance support letter requested to assist with your claim. We have at all times been cooperative and responsive to any requests made by your travel agent on your behalf throughout the process.
We would also like to clarify that we did not refuse to cooperate with your insurer. As noted above, we provided the required documentation to support your claim and worked through the appropriate channels established by your booking agent.
Unfortunately, as we are not a party to your travel insurance policy and are not privy to its terms, conditions, exclusions or coverage limits, we are unable to comment on why your insurer did not reimburse the full amount of your claimed loss. The outcome of an insurance claim is determined solely by the insurer according to the policy purchased.
Our booking Terms and Conditions clearly state that cancellations made the day prior to departure are subject to 100% cancellation charges. This is standard practice for travel arrangements where suppliers have already been paid and services are due to commence immediately. For this reason, we strongly recommend that all guests obtain comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unforeseen events such as medical emergencies.
We understand your frustration regarding the portion of your loss that was not covered by your insurance policy. However, we believe your concerns regarding the claim outcome would be best directed to your travel agent and insurer, who are in the best position to explain the coverage provided under your policy and the reasons for any unreimbursed costs.
We again wish you well in your recovery and thank you for your feedback.
