It was very easily done over the website application along with whatsapp chat. The chat was readily active but it could be faster (**I messaged in between morning and until evening before 7pm - not late night). One downside of the service was that it will not issue the policy document prior to the open date. It would be good for travelers like us to have our documents in hand before setting off as we have limited Internet access.

Thanks, Lee — we’re glad the process was smooth. 😊 Just to clarify, during working hours (09:00–17:00), we responded within 1–3 minutes on average. Two replies took a bit longer — both under 10 mins. One came just before lunch (11:30) and was answered after, and another at 12:38 was replied to at 13:00. After-hours replies were also handled quickly: Apr 24 at 17:48 → 17:50, Apr 24 at 18:41 → 18:52, Apr 26 at 00:47 → next morning at 12:42. Your policy was issued at 00:37 on May 1, based on your selected start date. We understand it would be easier to receive it earlier — and we genuinely wish that were possible — but under Turkish law (and global standards), policies can’t be issued before they start due to insurer liability. Most systems reconcile between 00:00–00:30, and we issue all foreign plate policies manually between 00:30 and 09:00. Thanks again — we’re always aiming to do better. — The Ikamet team

Your vehicle isn’t listed in Türkiye’s official registry, so per government rules, the closest Otomobil match must be used — this is clearly noted during the order process. We strictly follow all regulations. Foreign plate insurance is classified as high-risk, and only a few licensed agencies like ours are authorized to issue it under special contracts with the government and insurers. Obtaining Ikamet insurance online was great.
Obtaining insurance online was great. We were at a Turkish port after a ferry trip from Greece and no foreign vehicle insurance was available in the port city. We had to sleep at the port overnight and thankfully got insurance for our vehicle to pass through customs to enter Turkey after finding your website site. Great service, solved our problem.
