Had an ideal boiler fitted 8years ago. Luckily not had any problems yet like many other people but getting hold of this company even for simple boiler service is an absolute joke. If they can't even a... See more

Just had a boiler fitted. Although not cheap its great and has a 12 yr guarantee. Quiet and loads of hot water
DO NOT BUY AN IDEAL BOILER
Absolutely horrendous company. Our thermostat broke 3 weeks ago and shock horror it is not under the same warranty as the boiler! So boiler warranty for 7 years but if the thermostat breaks then sorry you’re on your own. Also absolutely no manual override on the boiler itself (checked by 3 different gas engineers) so no heating at all. New thermostat installed however boiler and thermostat won’t speak to each other, so still no heating. Ring ideal MULTIPLE times just to be told there’s no warranty on the thermostat so it’s not their issue. They also refuse to look at our new thermostat so can’t come and fix it. If you want them to service it to keep your warranty going, it’s £125 but you have to pay it before you can even select a day/time as appointments are ‘locked’ until they have the money. Do not buy an ideal boiler if you actually want a warm house in the winter, or a scrap of decency from anyone in the customer service or technical teams.
Absolute rubbish boilers and rubbish…
Absolute rubbish boilers and rubbish customer service . My boiler was installed 2019, had nothing but trouble with it. Engineer was booked for today, relieved a text from ideal saying the engineer would ring between 8am and 9am to give me my time slot. 9.15 am no phone call , I rang Ideal who rang engineer and was told I was next and to expect between 10am and 10.30am, 10.40 arrives no engineer still. Received a text from ideal at 11.04 to say I was his next call by which time I had given up on him arriving and went out. Don't know whether he actually turned up but I've had to rearrange.
WOW!! Not ideal at all
WOW. Every year since we had this installation completed we have had to call an engineer. 15 year warranty is offered but when you call the customer service team we're asked to jump through hoops to get the information the service advisor has right in front of her.
This seems to be a stalling tactic that is in place to support their not ideal service. We wish they had told us this when we were handing our 5 figure money to them.
If I could give zero starts I would
If I could give zero starts I would. My boiler lasted 8 years. Their own website states the boiler should last 15 years! I have serviced it every year. In this time it’s had 6 gas valves replaced and 3 PCB boards and multiple harness’s. Absolute toy. Never EVER buy these boilers. It just packed up again 2 weeks ago and again it’s the Gas valve!!! A gas valve is supposed to last 10-15 years. Changed and then the boiler just packs up completely and the harness wire has burned. Engineer wanted to replace the gas valve again!! Told him to stop wasting my time and money. Have resolved it with a new Vaillant boiler now. I reckon this is going to last 10 years without a single problem. Happy to take this review down if Ideal want to reimburse me for the absolute trauma I’ve had to put up with and the cost of my new boiler!
We have an 11 yr old i-mini 30.
Ours is 11 yrs old. We had one problem when it stopped heating the water but that was because the outside vent pipe was full of muck. Cleaned it and works great again. And if needed, topping up pressure is very easy...video on YouTube.
Poor customer service
I found you had to get past the customer service who has no qualifications as an engineer. Reported fault and had to go through lust of things to try. Eventually told not boiler fault and needed new thermostat. At a cost of £320 with buying and getting it installed and eventually getting another engineer found that it was the boiler. No apology and no refund. Got it serviced under warranty in October 22 and clock on boiler stopped December 22. Just complained as had to pay another £95 to keep the warranty. This will be my last year.
Ideal Boiler - Waste of Money!
Bought an ideal combi boiler just over 5 years ago and has gone wrong my plumber has been talking to the company and got nowhere have been without any heating now since 22.09.23 10 year Guarantee not worth the paper it is written on! DO NOT INVEST OR YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY! Had a Valliant for 17 years without an issue.
Engineers are unprofessional and seemingly unqualified
We have cover for our Ideal boiler through our insurers and each time our boiler has required a service or repair, they sent out Ideal Boilers. Each time they came out, the boiler would then develop faults and become unusable. Ideal said it was an old boiler and the parts were no longer available, so they couldn’t fix it. In effect, we had a boiler we could no longer use. However, they refused to report it to the insurers as a write off. In fact, the last engineer that came out actually said that “as the cast iron shell is still intact it isn’t a write off”!! So we had no heat and no hot water - just a shell!! He also said that if the boiler itself “blew up” then they would say it was a right off. For a so-called professional to say that they’d wait for it to blow up is astounding. Eventually, we found that the insurers also used a small family firm so we asked for them to come out. They immediately found the fault, ordered the parts and within a few days it was working perfectly. So Ideal Boilers couldn’t find the parts for a boiler that THEY manufactured but this small firm dealt with it straight away. It’s since been serviced by this marvellous independent firm and we’ll insist that they always come out in future. Ideal Boilers are nothing short of an absolute disgrace.
Boiler not fit for purpose
Had ideal boiler fitted March 2020. Within a year it developed a fault. Had this fixed under warranty.
Now has developed the same fault again, but is no longer under warranty. Not a product, I'd recommend. Would expect a boiler to last more than 3 years!
Boiler one year old blew fuse
Boiler one year old blew fuse. Engineer could attend in a weeks time!!!??? Used local engineer at vast cost. Warranty not worth the paper was printed on.Just a selling con
Brought an Ideal combi load of rubbish…

I arranged for a boiler service to be…
I arranged for a boiler service to be carried out and paid £95 in advance. I advised the operator that the boiler was in the loft . There was a light in loft and loft was boarded. When the engineer called he said he could not carry out the service as the loft was not boarded right up to boiler. I accept this as I can not get in to loft to inspect but on checking with the engineer he stated that if I contacted the office my money would be refunded. Ideal have refused to refund any money and have said that engineer would not say this accusing me of lying. As know work was carried out I can not see how Ideal can justify charging me the full cost of a service
Actually a zero star
Actually a zero star. Avoid. We had a fault with our Ideal boiler however it was out of warranty due to us not having had it serviced so customer advised if we paid £125 we could re-instate the warranty and an engineer would come to repair the fault. The engineer who arrived was rude from the minute he got out of his van as we live in an area where parking permits are required, my husband assured him he would be ok as he was parked right outside our house partially on our driveway. Then when he was told the boiler was in the loft he was not happy at all. The fault was the fan but he stated there was a faulty seal on the flue therefore until that was re-sealed then he couldn't fix or replace the fan. We were told it was a quick easy fix but he couldn't do this!! We then had to get a local gas safety engineer to come and do this 5 minute job however Ideal then told us they wouldn't return until we had replaced the boards in our loft as they found our boards dangerous (there were a few loose ones near the boiler) but the Ideal engineer never said when he was here that he wouldn't have replaced or fixed the fan if we hadn't had the fault with the flue. None of their other engineers have ever raised this with us before. We then tried to get a refund of our £125 to be told we would only get £30, we asked to speak with someone higher and received another call this morning to be told we were not entitled ro any refund at all!! We still have a faulty boiler and now have decided to replace with a Worcester boiler. We will never buy another Ideal boiler and would never recommend them.
Sparkerbox faulty rang for engineer…
Sparkerbox faulty rang for engineer come replace turned up without part even tho they was told by my plumber what it was and which boiler so now waiting them come back on monday horendous service
Avoid!!
Our boiler broke after only being installed 2 years previously but typically was just out of warranty! Customer service team do not listen to you and keep to the same script. Ended up with our gas mains being turned off due to the boiler apparently being dangerous and no idea when someone can come and fix it. Currently have no hot water and no use of our hob which is not acceptable especially when we have paid out lots for a maintenance plan! Luckily it’s nice weather and we don’t currently need the heating!
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Avoid. After booking a service over the phone and paying £95. Engineer came and stay in my house for 2 minutes saying one of the screws were worn out as he can't open the boiler to service. A slightly worn out screw and no real attempt to loosing it up. No negotiations, not even trying to mitigate everyone loses, nothing. I am an Ideal Boiler customer left at loss.
All previous services were all done by Ideal engineers so they are refusing to come again or to refund me for a service I paid for and did not receive. Very sharp business practices with a terrible customer service.
Avoid !
To write everything this company has done in a message would be just too long.
They take your money upfront and completely rob you silly.
It look me 4 weeks to get through the Samantha (apparently a customer service a manger) by phone as she was always on dinner breaks on time of my call, emails suited her better as she cannot face speaking to a customer direct.
lies, lies and excuses - please avoid and do not do the mistake we did.
ideal boilers are crap
had a new boiler fitted by a qualified gas engineer. When complete the engineer tried to light the boiler and it would not light. There was a problem with the boiler. The engineer called ideal and was told just take it off the wall and take it back to the shop you bought it from. The engineer found the fault with the boiler, which was a defective gas valve, went and got one, fitted it and lit boiler. Perfect. So Minus20 for ideal boilers. Gold stars for the engineer.
