The Hoodie I purchased was not what I expected

I just received a hoodie I purchased during Black Friday, and I was so excited to finally wear it when I see four rips where the pocket pouch was sewn to the hoodie. It seems that the stitching had somehow caused the hoodie material to rip. I never expected issues with the quality since everyone left good reviews on it so I was surprised.

I sent them a message immediately after noticing, but I am hoping that their customer service isn’t as bad as what people have been saying here and that the issue will be resolved.

I ordered three other items from Hypland - another hoodie, a bucket hat, and a shirt. I haven’t received a shipped confirmation email yet. These are supposed to be gifts so I am a little worried that they won’t arrive on time from what people have been saying.

GIVING BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES A BAD NAME. SHAME ON YOU HYPLAND!

I was so very excited to purchase from Hypland after seeing them on tv… supporting black-owned business is so important to me. With that being said what an utterly bad experience that’s left a sour taste in my mouth with Hypland. I honestly didn’t care how much the hello kitty sweatsuit cost, I’d be supporting their business and get a cute hello kitty suit—so I thought…
I received the pants and sweatshirt within only a few days. It was in the evening when I opened the package. The sweat pants were neatly wrapped separately in plastic while the sweatshirt was opened in the bag with the top of its bag torn off and only half of the sweatshirt actually in its bag. Nonetheless the sweatpants seemed and smelled new and this is where spending $133 for a sweat suit stung me.
I laid it out to wear to work for the next morning since it was going to be 62 degrees in Seattle, WA. I wore the sweatsuit to the office which is unlike me for a professional setting but thought that it was so cute and cozy that I didn’t care about being out of my business casual clothing for a day. At lunch time I walked outside of my building to get some sun and only then did I see that the sweatshirt and sweatpants were NOT the same color. The sweatshirt was tye-dye WHITE and pink and the sweatpants were CREAM and pink tye-dye. I WAS SO EMBARRASSED to be walking around in an obviously mismatched sweatsuit. I came home that afternoon early from work as I was too embarrassed to be seen looking that tacky in the office and contacted Hypland via email. They responded within 1-day and I let them know the problem and requested to be sent either a sweatshirt which would match the sweatpants or to send a sweatpants replacement that would match the sweatshirt (vice-versa). I explained that because I didn’t notice the mismatched suit until I was outside (as it was in the evening when I received it and an overcloud day in Seattle when I put the suit on and only realizing that afternoon (I start work when it is dark and keep the lights low in the house as not to wake anyone) when the sun was out that it was easy to see the sweatsuit wasn’t a match. I informed Hypland in the email that I had worn them for the first part of the day not realizing they were not a set but mismatched. I stated that the mistake was on their end. If I had know the suit didn’t match that evening upon receiving it I most definitely wouldn’t have put the suit on the next morning. The mistake was still theirs for sending an unwearable mismatched sweatsuit. I even included several pictures where it could be easily seen that the top was white and the bottom very much a cream color.
They offered me a store credit of $30 stating that I had worn the suit. Are they kidding? That’s a horrible way to treat any customer. I wasn’t asking for anything free and only asking for them to make it right and they never responded again. So now I have to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
Black-owned business owners should not expect that the customer pay for their mistakes and that one isn’t to expect to receive what the customer paid for simply because they are a black-owned business. I don’t normally wear sweatsuits and now I will not be able to wear it at all because it looks tacky and I am not a tacky person. I (carry Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior handbags only and) wouldn’t be caught dead in a sweatsuit let alone a mismatched one.
Shame on you Hypland for not doing the right thing. I was not trying to get over on your company but simply wanted to wear a matching suit.
Your company gives black-owned businesses a bad name. This poor behavior is what people complain about often when it comes to wanting to give a black-owned company a try and wanting to support because it’s the right thing to do. I am so upset having been treated this way.
Buyer beware. When they make the mistake you’ll pay for it and still not get what you ordered. Why would I want to use a store credit when my experience with Hypland was a very bad one? I don’t trust spending another dime on their products. Ripping of a paying customer, how is that good business?
Don’t trust their “hype”. Support black-owned business who would never do their customer wrong. Spend your money somewhere else.

Hypland did right by me 100% would buy again

I bought a rock lee rug - it came with a few unacceptable errors. I notified Hypland and sent them photos of it. They shipped me a new rug and I received it in 2 days. This has been one of the most seamless interactions on item that is not cheap to ship and I know a lot of other brands would have tried to offer me some bs 20% off coupon to keep.

I'm a big fan of their customer service towards me and their products. 10/10

Great Items if you get them Terrible service Nothing guaranteed

Great Items if you get them.
I had placed two orders for multiple items on each. Both were confirmed on 4/12, by 4/13 the first confirmed that it shipped and by 4/20 the first was delivered. I never got an update on the other. When I asked for an update on 5/2 they checked on why it never shipped. I never got an answer to why it never shipped but was told that as they are preparing it now the one item sold out due to “inventory error”. I requested a second of 3 items on that order be refunded as it was meant to go with the first. Customer service quickly responded and refunded the second item. Only TWO were to be refunded and had been. The other was still supposed to ship. Hours after that interaction I was sent a total order cancellation with the message stating I had requested it. Now I am told that the items had an “inventory error” from a canned customer service response that is no longer responding to me. How were the items checked and only one found out of stock(which it should not have been because they confirmed I purchased one unit) and then hours later, when my order was supposed to be expedited due to the fact that it was already delayed, I receive notice that it had been canceled entirely supposedly by my request. And now automated customer service says it was inventory error and everything is out of stock.

Edited: a few hours after posting I got response saying that after issuing the first refund due to inventory error I was placed back into a shipping queue and while waiting there they found that the final remaining item was out of stock as well. 1. I was already told before the first item availability check that after it was completed the items that were still available were to be expedited due to the delay in shipping them already. So why was I placed in a queue.
2. If this is the same inventory error as the other item why was it not caught when the other item was caught? How was it checked, set to ship, then before it could be shipped became out of stock? Answer: they don’t have a comprehensive inventory system, or they lied to me about the speed in which they were attempting to rectify.

Regardless the team clearly does not care about having to provide products since they can always issue a refund

Final edit: the CANCELLED tshirt still arrived. Somehow 2 weeks after the order was canceled, the t-shirt, that was refunded before the entire order was canceled, arrived in the mail. They clearly have 0 idea what they are doing fulfillment wise, but hey free T-shirt that’s still good quality.

Disastrous Customer Service

Dont get me wrong, the products are awesome - if you get them. I bought hoodies from Hypland twice, first time everything was ok and fine. The second time was beyond disastrous. The support answers, but has no clue at all, you just get some empty phrases to soothe you but theyre not really willing to help. The package was lost by Fedex i guess. I was super sad because there were 3 hoodies inside and i payed A LOT of money because they were also gifts for my boyfriend. So after 6 !!! month patiently waiting an nice emails with just asking about the case and if i can get refund oder new hoodies (which id love to have), i needed to write a mad email because no one even cared a bit about customer service or helping. Then i get finally an uncommented refund. Its super sad such an awesome brand cares so little about its fans, especially when i was super patient and only nice to them. Its hard to be ok with refund, because you have to wait super long for a restock and like never get the size you need :') But i guess this is just how modern brands have to work.

Bought a hoodie and rug from them

Bought a hoodie and rug from them. Received my rug in the mail and wondered where the hoodie I paid for was as well..
So I emailed them next day, and they claimed the hoodie was out of stock. I asked if they could send me a different size or work something out and they refused.
Yet they still took my money with no notification of the hoodie being out of stock when I placed the order..
Terrible customer service and they have ZERO remorse for their mistake whatsoever.

godawful.

my experience was similar to that of several others by the looks of things. i had my order cancelled because of a stock error, which their very poor customer service told me was an ‘isolated incident’ when i asked what the hell happened. clearly that wasn’t true at all, with how frequently it seems to be happening. don’t buy from them, while their products may well be excellent until they learn how to actually function as a retailer buying from them is only encouraging their incompetence.

They created my shipping label and snatched it back

They created my shipping label and I was all hyped up about finally recieving the akatsuki puffer jacket until they all of sudden said "uh nope you don't" told me the item was out of stock and refunded my order. I'm beyond pissed because I had finally gotten my hopes up. Thanks a lot HYPLAND

Hypland: the brand you never knew you needed

Hypland is the brand you never knew you needed. They never disapoint with the anime merch they give out so much energy to their customers and are very helpful when something goes wrong from my experience but they never fail to give us the most high quality anime merch for a good price that could be sold at zumiez and not have to be a stand alone shop that you feel like your getting robbed because they make clothes that are worth 10x the price for a tenth of the price.

Hypland has always satisfied me as a customer! The quality of clothing/print is beyond great and they always ship my orders so fast. I’ve never had a bad experience with Hypland and they continue to draw me in with their nostalgic collaborations and unique clothes.
