Failed to follow up on the £350 owed - Avoid

A year ago I sold my house and volunteered for the company to hold onto £350 in case there were any liabilities. In the past year I’ve had to keep on chasing up for updates with complete silence and now they are late in returning my £350. Not good enough

Excellent work over one years imdealing…

Excellent work over one years imdealing with (1) duplicitous and lying multi-millionaire freeholder when obtaining lease extension and then (2) six months being lied to and messed about by one of the worst online conveyancing companies in UK.

Asshu and Meena etc al provided sound sage advice and forbearance in the nightmare situations.

I highly recommend HPLP.

Awful experience

We used this company earlier in the year for conveyancing. We instructed them for the sale of my partners property and the purchase of the remaining share of my property, there was no chain and the process took over 4 months. Communication was incredibly poor, updates were not provided unless we chased them and information given to us was poorly explained even when we asked for clarification. The buyers had been told that delays were due to my partner not sending the required documents, but our solicitors had never asked us for them. We were also told by our solicitors that they hadn't received certain documents from other parties, we wasted time chasing these only to later find that they had been sent all along. We were also told that we needed to find out certain information and send it to the solicitors but everytime we tried to do this we were told your solicitor should be sending this request not you, they need to contact us. They also failed to tell us until late on in the process that we needed to pay for a very expensive "management pack" to be put together and said we should have been told this earlier.

Months in, we were over the moon to be given a suggested completion date, only to realise that it was only for the purchase not the sale. When we questioned how we could complete the purchase without any funds from the sale we were told they didn't know we needed the sale money to go towards the purchase. Finally, we had to argue multiple times that we didn't owe any stamp duty but they still charged us for it. We explained in detail all the reasons we didn't owe stamp duty and kept being told we do but we were never given any reason that made sense. Eventually I had to ring HMRC and they agreed we didn't owe stamp duty, and the solicitors finally said they would refund us after telling us they aren't tax specialists they just fill out the paperwork. The refund never showed up until we chased it up a month later.

Best Property conveyancers I've worked with

Meena and Hannah were the best conveyancers I have worked with. They would answer emails within a matter of hours which was great to see and always response professionally and thoughtfully, even when I was being a little needy. Fees also very reasonable
