Waste of time

Waste of time. Just book a local tradesperson. Had a booking confirmed and was messed around and plumber didn't turn up - JL can only say "hard luck".
Asked around at work, got a good plumber who arrives when they say they will and does a great job at better price.

Blocked toilet sorted

Took 2 visits as first plumber did an assessment then another came and did the job but the same day. Overall the issue was solved satisfactorily and at a reasonable price.

Leaking toilet cistern fixed - Mark plumber friendly and helpful and clearly explained problem and fixed it . He visited at the arranged times which was great.
Only downside to using Home Solutions - because a part needed ordering a 2nd visit required as the price of work had to be revised and checked and go through Home Solutions process .
The positive- easy to book initial visit through website .

Booking confirmed but the engineer never came!

I made a booking on Sunday night for a local engineer to come and fix my hot water issue. The earliest booking I could get was the following Tuesday and I was fine by it as I was happy with my last booking with Home Solutions.

However, I didn't get any phone call from the engineer to confirm the time of arrival like the last time (with a different engineer). It is stated in their terms and conditions that the engineer would get in touch 24 hours before the appointment to confirm the time of arrival. My appointment was between 1pm - 6pm so I waited but still no phone call.

I called the Customer Service at around 5:15pm to see if the engineer was definitely coming. The lady on the phone tried to get hold of the engineer but she couldn't locate him at all and I was reassured that the engineer should come. I carried on waiting until 6:30pm and still no phone call or sign of the engineer. I then tried to call the Customer Service again but guess what, the office was closed at 6pm and there's no way to get in touch with anyone at all!

If I knew the engineer would cancel the job, I would have found another local engineer to fix the issue asap instead of wasting 2 days on living without any hot water. Please be more responsible.

I trusted John Lewis for their services before but now I am not sure.

No help from JL for incomplete work

Agreed the scope of work to be done and price when booking the appointment.
The John Lewis Home Solutions workman only completed some of the agreed work but I was still charged the full fee.
When I complained, JLHS just passed me to the workman who in turn passed me back to JLHS. To date, the issue still has not been resolved. I would have been better off choosing a workman from the classified ads.
A really disappointing experience and a very dissatisfied customer.

Excellent Erik!

Erik came to replace a leaking tap for me - he established quickly that it was a degraded washer, and so saved me the cost of the tap. He then applied greased to the aerator & tightened the taps up and cleaned off the exterior limescale (all of which was above my expectations).

Was the best quote for the job and he was a really lovely chap to boot - gave me a call in advance and arrived when he said he would.

Do not waste the £30 on a quote

Do not waste the £30 on a quote. I asked for a quote on a simple painting job and it was nearly £5,000. (Someone else completed it for less than £1000). Ditto a small cupboard replacement which they quoted nearly £4,000 and someone else completed for £500. Ridiculous.

I stumbled across this service on…

I stumbled across this service on Google whilst searching for boiler service. It was booked so easily online and i could choose my time ot and was advised who would be carrying out the service. Liam turned up in really good time, he was so polite and professional and was very efficient. Service was completed and we received paperwork straight away and then email confirmation of completion and payment. I woukd definitely uses this service again

Plumbing Services

I came across this service quite by accident and, needing a plumber to address the problem of a leaking kitchen tap, decided to give it a go. The booking was easy, choice of timeslots within 36 hours. Agreed sum of £69 plus any parts. Email and txt confirmation received straight away. Plumber arrived on time (with txt and call half an hour before) and despite the work proving to be much more difficult and time consuming than expected, didn`t alter the quote. £20 for new fittings (very reasonable, included new hoses, etc, under the sink) and the job was completed. Confirmation email from JL a few hours later asking if I was happy with the new price before payment was taken off my card. All very straightforward. I suppose it depends where you are and which service you have but, for me, this was a five star experience. Thank you.

I would seriously avoid this service

I would seriously avoid this service. Quoted almost £500 to just hang a door that i would supply. Second quote was £300 for same job john lewis fail to state why this difference is other than the guy came to quote, but thats a lie because you pay £30 for the quote. Local tradesmen are doing same work for £100. You are being overcharged to justify their time but JL dont care. Yes its convenient but you are getting ripped off. Didn’t have any work done clearly. Customer service people have no idea and just lie their way through your concerns. I seriously love shopping in John Lewis but this service needs to be stopped. In fact the first guy stated i was paying for his travel, insurance, time to set up and this doesn’t bother jl as apparently its specialist work 😂

Very bad service

Very bad service. Booked a carpenter to hang a door. He did not turn up and did not respond to my calls or voicemail message. Sent email to JL solutions support, who replied that he would turn up. He did not! Appalling service. JL reputation rapidly going down the drain. Fix this problem, as I can see there are quite a few bad reviews! Obviously no checks and balances in place to ensure a proper service!! Appalling....
