Tamsyn Nixon, from Holborn Assets, has been my FInancial Advisor/Wealth Manager since May 2024. My particular situation has been extremely complicated and complex and Tamsyn has expertly guided me through the challenges that I faced with banking and government bureaucracies, rules, restrictions, regulations, etc. She has recommended and liaised with other professionals such as accountants, lawyers, tax experts, etc. to devise the most appropriate financial plan for my particular circumstances. Equally important has been her tenacity in following up with the timely & efficient implementation of the plan. Tamsyn has been very kind, courteous, understanding and empathetic in all her interactions with me (both face to face & via phone, webinars, emails, etc.). Tamsyn has been the best FInancial Advisor/Wealth Manager that I have dealt with in 2 countries during the last 45 years. I highly recommend Tamsyn to those who are looking for honest and technically excellent financial & wealth management advice and planning.

In recent months, My communications with Holborn has improved greatly, this is all thanks to Sahqub Ali, (Ali) my new allocated advisor, he has been updating me on my portfolio, and my options with my investment.
Ali has conducted several briefings with me via TEAMS meetings online and has been able to advise me and give me a better insight into my portfolio.
Ali has also laid out options which are more beneficial to me at this time.
I really appreciate the effort he has put into making me understand my investment better, and also the work he has done on making available the options he has given me to choose from.

Sadly, I can't give zero stars. Consolidated 3 pension pots into a QROPS retirement benefits Scheme when I was an Expat. Holborn broker approached me (more like targeted). Later found out that this was a common sales approach. Initially I wasn't particularly interested, but thought it would be a good idea to combine these into a cautious/low risk plan and just let it tick over for a few years. Checked once or twice in the first couple of years and was a bit shocked at the poor performance. Stuck in a 10 year plan - so no cost effective way out, as it turned out. Figured it still had a chance and it might start to pick up. Largely took my eye off the ball thereafter. I was never contacted by anyone once the plan was up and running, until recently, when the adviser contacted me for a "review". This was the first contact in over 9 years. At this point, I checked the progress only to find that the initial investment was half of the original value. I downloaded and reviewed the numbers. Numbers showed that most of the "lost" cash was regular & high fees for management (yeah right!) and adminstration (none) and other unspecified fees. In addition, the plan itself never made a penny in nearly 10 years (it actually lost money). It has really felt like a scam and I feel like a fool for having trusted this awful organisation with my hard earned cash. It appears they are not answerable to the UK financial regulators, so no hope of taking them to task. They have, in effect, just regularly helped themselves to my cash and made ZERO effort to manage anything. The Adviser was not able to provide any performance data or explanation for the poor performance or provide any insight of who was getting some of these fees. Now the Adviser has dropped off the radar. I would say it was from shame, except I don't think this organisation has any.
Worst financial decision I ever made.

Lourens Reichert, Kathy Burke and the entire Holborn team always deliver an outstanding service. They are knowledgeable and always on top of any market developments, trends etc. I moved with Lourens back in the days, when he started the Holborn office in South Africa and I am more than happy that I did so. The entire team is very proactive, and I can only recommend Holborn.

I contacted Holborn Assets in November regarding a Portuguese Golden Visa investment. The offer involved me investing €399,000 in a hospitality property, with Holborn contributing approximately €101,000 to meet the required €500,000 threshold. My plan was to use IRA funds, which required setting up both a U.S.-based self-directed IRA LLC and a corresponding entity in Portugal—a complicated structure, but I initially believed it was feasible.

After signing a contract and wiring a deposit, Holborn began the process by securing my Portuguese tax identification numbers. However, when I was introduced to their partner law firm, Paxlegal, new and unexpected concerns surfaced: surprise tax obligations, potential social security payments, unclear procedures, and vague long-term financial commitments. Around this same time, personal financial setbacks and a turbulent U.S. market further contributed to my hesitation.

Though I had second thoughts, I wasn’t looking to walk away without accountability. I reached out to ask whether any portion of my deposit could be recovered, understanding that some work had already been done. Initially, communication was sparse—limited to a few WhatsApp messages from an assistant (on a platform I don’t regularly use and had noted as such) and a missed call at an inconvenient time.

That said, once my concerns reached Shayne Peacock, my client advisor, the tone of the experience shifted considerably. Shayne took the time to engage with me professionally and empathetically. He kept the lines of communication open and worked diligently to help resolve the situation. Thanks to his efforts, I was able to recover roughly half of my initial deposit. I genuinely appreciate his follow-through and clarity. To be clear, I don’t believe there was bad intent at any point, but the early-stage communication and onboarding process lacked the transparency and structure I had hoped for.
