Wellington boots were £120 and only ever used in a very muddy field for my dog walking. So in total about 100 days and only 45 minutes on each walk. The material has just perished and split. Sent email to Hoggs, not surprised I haven’t heard a thing back just like previous complaints on this site. I wish I had checked here before buying these overpriced rubbish boots.
Products of variable quality. Very poor customer service.
I bought a sportsman style11 Waterproof coat about 3years ago, it was fine until the cold weather came this year, when I took it out of the wardrobe ,I noticed that the material on the collar and down the front was all cracked and coming away from its backing the coat which had only been worn about 6-7times was in new condition otherwise.l sent pictures etc for it to be examined. There was no chance of this and I was told it had been placed by a fire or radiator, this was never the case as it had been by neither. This material is definitely sub standard on the collar and not up to the job it was meant for. This coat although only worn appropriately 10times is looking like a10year worn out coat just by the collar material falling apart.l was offered a new coat for trade price but would anyone buy another coat that does this after such a short easy life, never been worn in rain only cold weather.
I purchased a pair of H.O.F. waxed leggings advertised as adults and one size fits all. Well I couldn't even get them around my legs to meet up to do the prestuds up. Also they stopped half way up my calves, thus they wouldn't have protected the bottom half of my leg. I've purchased many pairs of waxed leggings before most half the price of H.O.F. leggings without an issue.
I bought a pair of their neoprene lined wellingtons some time ago and initially was very pleased. They are the only decent wellingtons I can find with a vibram sole and they are fantastic for walking on rugged ground as well as very comfortable over longer distances- unlike most wellies ! However, within 12 months the uppers started to crack and leak at the toe crease, almost like the rubber was perishing (never left outside). Hoggs customer service were very good and arranged for a replacement through the retailer.
Second pair survived longer, however the upper on one boot has now gone the same way and split at the tow crease. Unfortunately now out of guarantee and a shame as there is plenty of wear left on the sole. This now leaves me searching once again for a good pair of wellingtons at a sensible price.
I think the one-eyed donkey made my chukka boots from Hoggs. The eyelets on one boot are 5mm out of alignment with the eyelets on the other boot. It means my left foot fits snuggly and is supported around the ankle whilst my right foot feels loose and the boot gapes open around the top. How did these pass quality control ? IS there any quality control ? The leather on each boot is a different grain and slightly different colour. Heritage counts for nothing if you're sending out rubbish like this.
Found the Golden Fleece! For years been trying to get Welly Warmers/ Inserts. Tried tons either a battle to get on or off push yer toes into the front squashing them. Bought tons of stuff from them over the years including their Wellies and the ideal solution was staring me in the face! Their insulated boot socks are brilliant! Just test driven them just now. Been out Mole Hunting just got in. Wind and rain ferocious however, feet as warm as toast and feet not crammed into padding like other options. Great product, well kept secret. ATVB. Alan Mac.
I’ve bought several items of outdoor clothing from Hoggs. The most notable being a pair of heavy weight work trousers and their light weight outdoor trousers.
The outdoor work trousers have been exceptional. Water-proof and warm and exceptionally durable, there can be nothing better than these in a muddy, cold and potentially “ abrasive environment.
The light weight trousers are just out the bag, but are warm and comfortable to wear whilst walking. I’m a little uncertain about the Velcro based trouser bottoms but the miles ahead will show their quality in the end.
Customer Services are exceptional and went beyond what was requested to solve a small problem with a purchase.
What I’ve experienced of Hoggs leads me to fully recommend them and their merchandise.
No good customer relations with this company ,my uncle bought a pair of Hoggs boots a few years ago (Hoggs say they haven’t made them for 8 years) but never the less he never wore them and passed away my aunt gave them to me and after only 2weeks of me wearing them the soles detached from the upper boot ,I contacted Hoggs and basically they were not interested in doing anything and told me the glue had gone off ,it wouldn’t have been so bad if they offered to send me some glue to try and fix but they were just not interested in doing anything ,will never touch this company with a barge pole in the future .
£250 boots for use "In the field" and within 8 months all the lace eyelets corrode and fall apart. Company refuses to acknowledge their product is sub standard and chooses instead to claim they have not been cared for properly! Will never buy another product from them again. Terrible quality products that don't last or stand up to the purpose they are sold for.
Worn out in 2months and these are supposed to be new and improved, even worse then the last, at £100 they should be far better
Purchased a pair of workboots for my husband on recommendation - they started to fall apart within weeks, rather then months. Communication with Customer Service absolutely diabolical - do not seem to be interested. Embarrassed really because my husband recommended this company to several of his work colleagues. Sent them pictures, no response and really upset by the situation. Now have to purchase urgently elsewhere.
I have had quite a few items from this company and been very happy. We live in a farming area and my husband beats in the Winter. Ladies tweed jacket, waistcoat, fleece body warmer, jumpers, shirts all hard wearing, smart and reasonably priced. Recent leather backpack bought online in sale- great.
This review is for Hoggs Of Fife Rannoch Veldtschoen Boots. If you want a pair of very heavy duty country boots then these could be just the ticket. The fit for me is just right wearing fairly thick socks, as they are a wide fit which is what I need. I found them to be comfortable right out of the box, despite the leather being a bit stiff as it is very thick, but this should mean they will last for donkey’s years.
Was about to buy their safety boots when I read the reviews - really awful. Will get Muck boots on Amazon
And another very disappointed customer.
Bought their Field Neoprene Wellingtons at £89.99, expecting them to last more than 18 months.
The inside boot lining on both boots have come apart at the heel of the sole exposing the rubber underneath making them very uncomfortable/ impossible to walk in.
Contacted their customer service/support, had a response to say they would look at the problem, but no response in 2 months.
I will not be buying any Hoggs of Fife products ever again.
I acquired a leather belt made by Hogg's of Fife from a shop in Oban.
I am pleased with the quality and the fit.
I was on holiday visiting my wife's family, I will certainly consider this make for future purchases in country wear.
Bought some neoprene lined wellies for to wear to my horses probably 5 years+ ago now and still going strong, lost the colour a little but I wear them everyday in winter, still so comfy! Used to always buy Dublin country boots but I prefer the hoggs!
Avoid
I Always bought muck boots but thought I'd give hoggs a go, what a mistake. I bought a pair of Hoggs of Fife Field Sport 365 Wellington Boots, rubbish boots they didn't last 12 months. They split and water gets in they are useless. Never again
Utter Junk... Two month old wax jacket ..Worn half a dozen times and the zip fell apart... No warranty or repair service and suggested I take it and get it repaired myself.. A company that parades itself as a rugged clothes manufacturer ?? Should have bough from a reputable business like Barbour... Hoggs of Fife don't deserve the 1 star I have given them but there's no option for a zero... Take heed ! Steer clear !
