HitBTC received funds from a disputed transaction – provider refuses to resolve
I want to explain what happened, because it’s been almost a year.
I used Exodus Swap. The provider (CriptoIntercambio) received my 3.08 ETH, then froze the funds.
I completed their KYC. After that, they offered a partial refund. I accepted.
Then they changed their position and demanded that I bring a third person from a sales contract to verify.
This person is not connected to the transaction, and I cannot contact them. The requirement is impossible.
I traced my funds. On April 24, 2025, the provider sent 104.8 ETH to HitBTC Hot Wallet 4.
My 3.08 ETH were part of that deposit.
Transaction: 0x25a0821d126b4fbb9424beafd235648ba35a6513745b3b59f4d523dd10b71d8d
I reported this to HitBTC abuse. Ticket #1665897 was created. I have not received any resolution.
The provider continues to give no clear answers and refuses to return my funds.
I believe HitBTC should review this deposit and ask the provider for clarification, since the funds passed through your platform and the provider is not responding.
I hope HitBTC can help by reviewing this deposit and requesting an explanation from the provider.
Update(April 6,2026): HitBTC has now sent me three identical responses saying their "Support team is not authorized to provide any further information." They refuse to provide a Final Response. I have escalated to the Financial Ombudsman Service (UK). Ticket #1665897.
WARNING: HitBTC has been holding my ETH hostage for 5 YEARS
Hi everyone,
I am posting this as a desperate measure and a severe warning to anyone still keeping their funds on HitBTC.
Four years ago, I deposited some Ethereum into my HitBTC account. Almost immediately, my withdrawals were frozen. Support contacted me, claiming that the ETH was "suspicious" or "stolen" and that they were launching an AML investigation.
I was ready to cooperate and prove the origin of my funds. But here is the catch: it has been 5 YEARS.
For 60 months, support has been giving me the exact same copy-paste replies: "The investigation is still ongoing, please be patient." They refuse to provide any proof, any deadlines, or any legal documents (like a court order) that would legally allow them to freeze my assets for half a decade.
It is obvious that there is no real investigation. They are simply using KYC/AML as an excuse to confiscate user funds. I have multiple tickets over the years proving this endless loop.
HitBTC Support, if you are reading this, my ticket number is #

]. I demand a public explanation of why an AML check takes 5 years without a court order.
Has anyone else been in this situation with them? Did you manage to get your crypto back, or is it a lost cause? Please upvote for visibility so others don't fall into this trap.
My funds have effectively been locked…
My funds have effectively been locked on HitBTC for more than 5 years.
I repeatedly provided all documents they requested and completed the KYC verification multiple times. Every time their support asked for additional information, I sent everything again.
Despite this, I was never able to access or withdraw my funds.
Instead, inactivity fees started being deducted from my balance, even though I could not use my account because of the verification issues on their side. Charging inactivity fees while blocking access to the account makes absolutely no sense.
I logged into the app regularly trying to resolve the problem, sometimes weekly.
Now the situation is even worse: my account shows "user disabled" and when I log in my balance is gone and I cannot see my funds anymore.
This is extremely concerning. My funds have been held for years, and now my account appears to be disabled without any proper explanation.
I strongly urge HitBTC to restore access to my account and my funds immediately.

HITBTC are disgusting fraudsters. DO NOT USE THIS EXCHANGE.
HITBTC is a complete scam
I lost several thousand dollars worth of BTC. Was deducted hidden fees of 50$/ month with zero intimation from their end. Clause was hidden in their contract and no email / no notification ever from their end that such a thing existed.
Already gone back and forth with them over tickets and you get auto-generated responses.

Disingenuous response again. have a 1 star rating across the internet for a reason. inserted a hidden clause in, and started deductions with zero notification/ intimation about this.

To the HitBTC Support Team and Legal…
To the HitBTC Support Team and Legal Department,
I am writing this formal follow-up regarding Ticket#1662092. Despite my full cooperation and the submission of all requested documentation, my account remains unfairly restricted.
I wish to formally address the following points:
Inefficiency of Support: The "piecemeal" approach of requesting documents one by one—rather than providing a comprehensive list of requirements—is highly unprofessional. This practice unnecessarily prolongs the resolution time, a standard that falls significantly below the industry benchmarks set by platforms such as Binance and Coinbase.
Lack of Transparency (Inactivity Fees): I have become aware of reports regarding "inactivity fees" applied to dormant accounts. I must emphasize that I was never formally notified of such charges. Furthermore, since the access restriction was initiated by HitBTC and not by me, any deduction of my assets during this period would be considered unauthorized and legally contestable.
Asset Integrity: I expect my cryptocurrency balance to be returned in full once access is restored. Any discrepancy in the balance due to "fees" applied while you are preventing me from accessing the platform will be viewed as a misappropriation of funds.
Notice of Intent:
Please be advised that if this matter is not resolved within the next 24 hours and my account access fully restored, I will take the following actions:
Legal Action: I will file a formal report with the Polizia Postale (Italian Postal and Cybercommunications Police) and relevant European financial regulatory authorities.
Public Disclosure: I will escalate this case via social media platforms and crypto-community forums to warn other users of these practices.
I trust it will not be necessary to proceed with the above and look forward to the immediate reactivation of my account.
Regards
30/12/2025
Hello,
It s no resolved because I had in my account:
0.52461437 ETH
1.1 AAVE
and now I don't have anything, I have just 0.45977178 AAVE and also to send it to coinbase I have to spend as a fee 0.23977178 aave...
Formal Complaint for Unauthorized Account Depletion and Request for Immediate Refund
I am writing to formally protest the unauthorized depletion of my account funds. I have noticed that my balances in ETH and AAVE have been drained through "inactivity fees" that were never communicated to me beforehand.
Furthermore, I have observed that these fees are inconsistent and vary in amount from month to month, which appears to be arbitrary and lacks any transparent contractual basis.
I demand the immediate reversal of these transactions and the full restoration of my ETH and AAVE balances to my account.
Please consider this a formal notice: if my funds are not returned within 4 business days, I will proceed to file an official report with the Italian Postal and Communications Police (Polizia Postale) and the relevant financial regulatory authorities to investigate this matter as an unlawful appropriation of assets.
I look forward to your prompt cooperation in resolving this issue.
Regards

HitBTC stole my funds! No response for 6 months! Calling for collective action and law enforcement involvement
It’s now been half a year since HitBTC stole my funds, and nothing has changed. Back in August 2025, I found out that all my EOS tokens (2377.6118 EOS) had disappeared from my account. The coin was delisted, and I never received the promised Vaulta (A) tokens in exchange, even though the official announcement said the swap would be automatic and 1:1. I’ve contacted support multiple times, provided all the details, and referenced the official swap, but all I get are copy-paste replies or complete silence. They clearly have no intention of solving this.
I’m convinced now that my funds were simply taken and probably sold by the exchange at a time that was convenient for them. Even if they return something now, the price of the coin has dropped so much that I’ll never get back the real value of what was stolen.
I’m calling on all national and international law enforcement agencies to investigate this situation and help me recover my funds. I also urge anyone else who has faced similar problems with HitBTC to join me in filing collective complaints to the authorities and regulators who can actually do something about this.
I’m not going to let this go. I will be reaching out to organizations like the FCA, SEC, and will be posting about this on Trustpilot, Reddit, Twitter, and every public platform I can find. I’ll also be sharing my story with crypto media and communities so that as many people as possible know what’s really going on here.
If you’re thinking about using HitBTC, don’t. They’ve shown they can just take your money and ignore you, and there’s no guarantee you’ll ever get your assets back.
Shame on you Hit Solution Limited
I'm fighting my case over 5+ years they deactivated my account and over 100k gone , I got solicitor and FBI involved too . They are organised criminal , Stay away.
Hit Solution Limited — Registered in Hong Kong. Company No. 2510720. Incorporated: 28 March 2017. Status: “Live”.

Give it a try !
I never had any problem with them. Everything works. I know they do always blocking your account on 48 hours due to security risk or when you adding new address into the whitelist. But after that it was always smooth. Just transaction and swapping fees are bit higher, but on otherside lots of security.

The exchange does not solve the user's problem
We are writing to you with this claim in the order of pre-trial settlement of the
Ticket#1644777 incident (opened in April 2025.) in the interests of gr. Andrey Ermakov, owner
of a personal account on the HitBTC exchange HitBTC(hitbtc.com)
Account ID: 22A8A20A.
The above-mentioned has been a user of the HitBTC exchange HitBTCsince 2017, has
actively used all available services of the platform and has not violated the"равила Terms of
service" (paragraphs 22, 2.3 and others), рposted on your site, the KYC and AMLpolicy. After
purchasing the digital currency Monero (XMR) and trying to sell it through the exchange, у
Andrey Ermakov (hereinafter referred to as the user) had problems in the form of blocking
transactions.
At the request of the exchange representative, the user provided all the documents and
information for his re-verification as part of the KYC procedure. Despite meeting all the
requirements set out in the exchange's KYC policy, including providing a clear, color, uncut
photograph of the original document, the user's application was rejected without explanation.
The initial verification was carried out using the passport number in Ukraine FU 966366.
All applications for money transfer submitted to the exchange are issued using the second passport,
Russian passport number 76 0713695.
At the same time, the user explained that he really is a freelancer and webmaster who receives
income from cooperation with the above-mentioned partner programs (Coomeet, BongaCash,
SmartResearch S.R.O). Thus, the user receives the main sources of income from BongaCash (in
particular, the requested source of BTC). The user has entered into a cooperation agreement with
BongaCash as part of a public cooperation offer posted on the website bongacash.com The signed cooperation agreement between the parties is attached
to this claim and confirms the origin of the BTC that entered his digital wallet, and further, to the
HitBTC exchange's electronic wallet
Despite all the logic and validity of the evidence presented by the user, the HitBTC exchange
continues to block his assets on the account, thereby causing damage to the user, since the liquidity
and market value of the blocked digital currency change every hour.
Meanwhile, according to clause 4.3. of the "Terms of Service", nothing in this document
should be considered or interpreted as a willingness to seize your crypto assets. The main purpose
of this section is to inform you about the various security measures that we use to ensure the
security of your crypto assets.
Unwillingness to consider obvious facts and explanations provided, evidence indicates the
dishonesty or negligence of specific technical/customer service staff. This is unacceptable.
For this reason, we insist on reviewing this pre-trial claim outside the scope of the technical
review, but on an individual basis by a senior manager or administrator of the exchange.
Given the reputation and experience of the exchange, I would not like to take this problem
beyond the regulation of the parties, since any publicity and popularization can cause reputational
damage to the exchange, which will lead to a much greater loss for the exchange in the form of
loss of interest in it from many users.
In addition, the international KYC and AML policy regulated by FATF has developed a
very clear and understandable practice when, at the request of a bank, exchange or other credit
institution, timely and objective evidence provided by the user leads to the removal of all suspicion
from a particular operation or transaction. There are no other grounds for blocking or freezing
assets, except for a criminal/criminal perspective.
We remind you that digital assets in many countries of the world are recognized as the
personal property of a citizen and are protected by law. The blocking and retention of property
cannot be carried out without proper grounds, without an appropriate court decision.

They just stole my Dogecoin
I've been wanting to withdraw my Dogecoin for years, but it never let me. The platform simply ended up stealing it.
Inactivity fee scam
I had a few hundred dollars in my account and did not login for a couple of years. I just did and my balance was zero. Turns out they decided to charge me inactivity fees, without informing me. That's a scam.

Unfair Inactivity Fees and Account…
Unfair Inactivity Fees and Account Freezing Without acceptance of changes in terms
When I registered, there was no mention of any inactivity fee in their terms or policies. This change was introduced years later. Suddenly, they started charging $50 per month for inactivity, and when I noticed, my account was frozen. They continue to deduct fees from balance without giving any chance to reactivate or access account.
They are imposing these fees unilaterally and without proper communication or consent from users. Users should be clearly informed and asked for approval before any such changes are made. Their approach of freezing accounts and draining balances under the guise of inactivity fees is unacceptable.
I would advise caution before trusting this platform, as their policies seem to change without notice and are enforced unfairly.
And ofcause they will reply to all such reviews with their standard message "Hello. You can find information about fees for inactive accounts..."

HitBTC refuses email reset despite verified KYC; balances inconsistent (#1654915)
I can access my HitBTC account dashboard, and under Settings → KYC my full legal name and personal details clearly match the ID I provided (passport + selfie with handwritten note). Despite this, Support keeps replying “contact us from the original email,” even though I no longer have access to that email due to an old 2FA phone number — which is exactly why I’m asking for an email reset and 2FA reset.
I provided extensive evidence with my ticket #1654915, including:
Passport + selfie with handwritten note (KYC matched)
Full transaction history export (deposits, 12 BTC withdrawals with hashes from Jan–Feb 2018 totaling 0.96872632 BTC)
The official Account Summary / Trade Analysis PDF and Transactions XLSX showing a net BTC buy of ~1.57 BTC and ~₮167,000 unrealized P&L at their own stated closing rate
These two official reports don’t reconcile: the Trade Analysis suggests BTC is still effectively “held” (large unrealized P&L), while the ledger shows on-chain withdrawals and a zero main balance. Their own logs could easily verify that my personal data was never changed and what authorization (2FA/email) was used for those withdrawals. Instead, I’m met with canned responses and no resolution.
In my view, HitBTC is stonewalling a verified owner and effectively blocking access to funds by refusing a straightforward email/2FA reset that their KYC should allow.
This case has been reported to IC3, Interpol, and Hong Kong fraud investigators, along with all the evidence of missing funds, hidden balances, and deep analysis of it all. I’ll continue to escalate until my access and balances are properly restored.
Warning: Proceed with extreme caution.

HitBTC fraud - inactivity fee
I've got scammed too with inactivity fees. That is just incredible what they come up with. 50$ per month to hold my coins.
I lost everything. damn!

Reply from HitBTC
HitBTC drained silently my account
HitBTC drained silently my account due to inactivity - without any notice they made several withdrawal transfers. I lost the equivalent of more than 100 USD at the time of writing. This is essentially legitimate theft, which is described in details in point 17.4 of their Terms of Service. I purposefully left small amount of crypto in the exchange, because of their exorbitant withdrawal fees. Now I don't have anything. I can not trust a company who engages in such sleazy theft-like practices - high withdrawal fees + draconian stealthy inactivity fee. Avoid their services - there are more reputable and more civilized crypto exchanges without such robbery-like rules.
Update 22.07.2025:
HitBTC is a fraudulent enterprise, who boldly lies that it is a registered company in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. There is an official warning about this from The Financial Services Authority of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Update 07.08.2025:
The inactivity fee is NOT a "standard practice" in most widely used crypto exchanges. The standard practice of a fraudster is to smear the facts in his or her favor. In 2022 Bitstamp tried to impose such a fee, but the plan backfired and they canceled it. KuCoin recently introduced Dormancy Fees for non-verified users only, but the crucial difference is that they will NOTIFY the affected users with email or SMS before the charge.

Scam! Beware
I am convinced that this company is using KYC excuses to avoid customers from withdrawing and them just keeping your funds. I have 171 Monero on HITBTC, I have provided them all my documents, and they always come with a new request. Originaly I have sent 177.24998996 Monero there, now I have 171 due to inactivity fees, however even though I cannot access it. I am planning to file a lawsuit against them. The financial authority of St Vicent and the Grenadines, where they are registered, has issued a warning against them.
How HitBTC Froze My $50,000
I am a freelancer, webmaster, and part-time crypto investor. Since 2017, I have been a client of the HitBTC exchange and successfully passed KYC.
On April 2, 2025, I decided to withdraw my assets from the exchange due to a lack of liquidity to sell my funds at market price. After attempting a withdrawal, my account was restricted, and a message appeared saying I had to verify again.
I followed all the instructions: submitted my international passport, a photo holding the passport with a note showing the date and my email, and a utility invoice from my property management company. The exchange rejected these documents.
I then went to my bank and obtained an official statement with a wet stamp and signature, and sent a photo. Despite their own rules stating that scans or photos are acceptable, they rejected that too.
Later, I obtained an official tax residency certificate (which cost money), digitally signed and linked to the official government website. But after that, they came up with a new requirement: I had to prove the source of the last three deposits to the exchange.
I provided screenshots from the partner program and an invoice. Two USDT transactions were accepted. The third, a 0.2 BTC transaction, was rejected — even though the invoice clearly shows who sent what to whom.
To meet their excessive demands, I hired a lawyer and submitted a partnership agreement that details the contracting parties, the service provided (my work), and the payment method (Bitcoin). I attached all supporting documents.
HitBTC still refused, claiming the invoice lacked a BTC-to-USD conversion rate. Now they demand a new document from the partner company confirming the legality of the payment made in June 2020 — five years ago!
HitBTC is clearly doing everything possible to deny access to my funds. Even the transactions that were accepted remain locked. Upon reviewing their Terms of Service, I realized they accept no legal responsibility and can demand endless paperwork.
This could happen to anyone. Think twice before trusting this platform.
As of now, the amount of my frozen assets is equivalent to approximately $50,000 USD. Upd: WARNING NOTICE –HitBTC / Hitechno Business LTD / HiTech Digital Business Ltd
The Financial Services Authority of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (“the Authority”) hereby notifies the public that the entities HitBTC, Htechno Business Ltd, and HiTech Digital Business Ltd are not registered, nor do they operate from within St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
On November 9, 2023, the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVIFSC) formally de-registered HiTech Digital Business Ltd. This action was announced in Public Statement No. 30 of 2023, published on the BVIFSC’s official website – Public Statement 30 of 2023 – HiTech Digital Business Ltd. | British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission. Subsequently, on March 20, 2024, the Authority issued its own Warning Notice against HiTech Digital Business Ltd, which is accessible on the Authority’s official website – Financial Services Authority St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
Following the de-registration and subsequent dissolution of its former BVI entity in 2023, HitBTC began citing Htechno Business Ltd, as its new service provider, claiming it is registered in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. However, this claim is entirely self-reported, and the Authority is confirming that no such entity is registered or operates within this jurisdiction.
The Authority cautions the public that any reliance on the legitimacy of these entities – as presented on their websites such as HitBTC’s “Banking and Legal Information” page – Banking and Legal Information / HitBTC is misleading and fraudulent.
Any documents issued by Htechno Business Ltd, HitBTC, or HiTech Digital Business Ltd claiming incorporation, registration, licensing, or affiliation with the Authority are false and forged. Members of the public are strongly advised not to engage in any business or financial dealings with these entities, as such interactions may expose individuals to fraudulent schemes and financial loss.
AVOID using this SCAM platform
Update: I found out Interpol is the wrong institution for this case. Instead we can report our concern here, in case HitBTC is (according to trustpilot) located in Hongkong:
1. Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC)
Website: www(dot)sfc(dot)hk
2. Hong Kong Consumer Council
Website: www(dot)consumer(dot)org(dot)hk
HitBTC address: Unit 19, 7/F, One Midtown No.11, Hoi Shing Road, Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong, Hongkong
I can confirm all those already reported experiences: They let you deposit, but prevent you from withdrawing. My friend made the same experiences. They silently apply an inactivity fee of 50$ per month, deducting those from your funds, equal how much your funds are, without ever informing anyone by email or by platform notification after login, like all other platforms make important announcements. The support just replies with copy/paste messages, but totally doesn't care about treating customers according to the law. Then they are even so brazen that they believe they can justify their criminal activities with their quietly, secretly and also subsequently updated terms of service and point this out below almost every review. Hopefully Interpol takes these scammers down soon, before too many more people get robbed.
Update:
After HitBTC read my shattering review, they requested my personal details via Trustpilot to “better understand my experience and be able to respond”. As if anyone would still value this after several people have had the same experience, described it here and HitBTC has not come a step closer to them, but only keeps trying to justify their illegal business practices! I clearly refuse so that they have no chance of deleting my account in case Interpol takes them to task and confiscates their funds in order to pay them out to the victims.
Update:
Now Trustpilot tries to force me, under threat of deleting my report, to allow them to pass my personal data to this criminal company, and this after we have already read here in the experiences of others that they simply lock people, who report the truth, out of their account. So my worries they could simply delete my account and email is absolutely justified and then a refund by Interpol would be impossible. I would rather have my report deleted, than to have my HitBTC account deleted and lose the chance of ever getting my coins back. In addition, I have contacted HitBTC support often enough about my concern and also warned them that if they do not pay out my coins, I would then use every platform I know to report their illegal activities, which did not impress them at all, according to the motto “once your reputation is ruined, you can live a completely carefree life”.
Update:
I just wanted to try again to withdraw my coins, but had to find out, that HitBTC just took them, likely as their illegal inactivity fee, But there is no record about what happened with it. Luckily I took a screenshot just a few days ago. Now I'll find out further steps.
And by the way: It is just not true, that I've been inactive for 6 months, because regularly every or every second month I used their app, checked my sell order or even changed my sell order, but they evaluate you as inactive, if you didn't make a trade for 6 months. But who trades coins, which are currently super low, didn't move much since more than one year and were supposed to be sold with a few 100% profit?
Reply to HitBTC:
To specify your illegal activities within your terms and conditions and point this out below each review doesn't legalize those. First: I'm trading at many platforms and none of them takes an inactivity fee and second: If you make such major changes in your terms and conditions, YOU HAVE TO INFORM YOUR CUSTOMERS NOT ONLY BY EMAIL, BUT ALSO BY A NOTIFICATION AFTER ENTERING YOUR PLATTFORM, BUT BOTH YOU DIDN'T AND YOU CAN NOT PREVENT PEOPLE FROM WITHDRAWING THEIR FUNDS AND THEN CONFISCATE THEM!!! AND WHAT EVER YOU WRITE IN YOUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS: THIS IS ROBBERY AND ROBBERY IS ILLEGAL, IN CASE U DIDN'T KNOW THAT!
