HITACHI very STRANGE & POOR AFTER SALES SERVICE !
Phoned Hitachi Thailand to repair or replace a water pump with a 10 year warranty that had developed leaks from a key component after 4 years and 4 months. (A) The initial options were all in Thai, and I had to ask my wife to select the English -speaking service (B) The operative handling my call was MOST UNHELPFUL. Having taken the model number, she said that I needed to contact another company - with a name I had never heard of (had to ask her three times for the name, as she spoke fast and indistinctly). I expressed my disbelief and annoyance that Hitachi was the name all over the product and warranty card, yet I would have to deal with another company. Her reply was, " they use our factory, but it is not a Hitachi product " - !!!. Throughout the call her manner was arrogant, impatient and dismissive. When I asked her questions for clarification, she invariably started her reply with " I already told you ... " which was annoying as it was inaccurate ! I asked to speak with her manager, and she gave me irrelevant replies. I persevered and she said that the manager did not work Saturdays. I said I would call Monday, and asked for the manager's name. She replied, " I cannot give you that information. " I responded, " Has Hitachi instructed you to withhold manager's names, and if it has, I shall be writing a bad review of the company. " At this she gave me a name. I can only imagine the call was not being recorded for quality purposes. All very surprising given the company's considerable publicity projecting leadership in responsible corporate behavior.
