BEWARE~ This is a BAD BUSINESS

The rating really should be 0.
Not long ago, i tried to buy over $2000 worth of merchandise from this, turned-out-to-be, HORRIBLE AND WICKED COMPANY. The Employees scoffed at my ordre just because i politely asked if a discount was applicable. The Creep that spoke to me was utterly rude and disrespectful--- claiming that They "DO NOT MAKE DEALS". To this insolence, i asked to speak to the Owner of the Company. But the same Creep responded "The Owners DO NOT SPEAK TO customers".
From this abuse, i submitted a review of this EVIL Company on~line. In-Response, The EVIL Employees all bore false-witness against me, claiming that i was "abusive" (in-order to cover for *Their* EVIL Disrespect).
The EVIL Owners even stood by Their Creepy Employees sides--- knowing They lied.

If you look at This Creepy Company's Website, you will notice that It has a consistent pattern: Abusiveness. Look at how many times you will see phrases like "WE DO NOT OFFER DISCOUNT CODES", "WE DO NOT PROMO CODES" etc...
Does that sound like a company that cares about sales and customers? It does not. Would a real apparel business reject a $2000+ ordre? No, but a PHONY apparel business would. Because otherwise They would have to waste Their time filling the ordre, when Their real interest and money is something else.
As a general rule {and though i do not know that this particularly applies to this Wicked Company}, whenever you find a Company that has NO real interest in customers, it means that the Company is really just a "Front Company" for more Nefarious Dealings--- like child-Trafficking or Drug-Trafficking.

When i made my initial negative review of this EVIL Company, Its Owners did not even care. That is typically a Sign of People Using Their Store as a "Front" For EVIL-Things, and NOT What They Advertise.
What is more, is that Trust-Pilot, or some Other source, kept my review from being read by the public. Which is another Sign that this Wicked Place is being protected by Nefarious sources.

***don't spend your good money with this Wicked Business, and take the chance that your good money is really going to Things That are more EVIL than The Devil Itself.****

PANTS NOT FOR CURVY SIZES

In general, Historical Emporium makes a great product which is wonderful for performer costumes and has good customer service. BUT their products are not made for real curvy women sizes so be sure that you confirm ALL your measurements before ordering. If you live outside the USA, shipping might cost more than the product you are ordering which makes returning the product impossible.

Wonderful

The line was fully described in text, with several photos of the actual pieces. The full suit arrived much, much faster than I expected, in fact it shipped the same day I ordered it. The suit (Victorian-Era) is absolutely beautiful. It is period-correct in every way. The fit is fantastic, the sewing and material is high-quality. I look like a million bucks.

I had an amazing experience!

I had an amazing experience! Everything went very smoothly. The products came in just a couple of days from when first I ordered them. The skirt I got was a little big on me, so their website requested I go ahead and get another one and then return the other one later so as to get a new skirt as soon as possible. Same as the first, the second one came in just a couple of days. The products are made with an out of this world quality and fit so nicely! I would recommend the Historical Emporium a thousand times over!

Scam-site

I bought victorian ruffle bloomers from this so-called shop. I got alot of the money as a christmas present so that I could get them. I was so excited to get them. I can't say that I'm happy anymore. I was at first, but before half a year was over, there were holes in my bloomers. And I always washed them gently like I do with my other bloomers. These have cost me alot more than any other bloomers I've bought. And I had to pay alot just to get the package from the post office when it finally arrived, due to me living in another country. The amount was over tousand kr. in my valuta. And yet they are the first to go. The other ones I have, have great quality, despite having a nice, affordable price. These, however, do NOT stand up to my expectations or any standards. I didn't use them much either, and when I did, I was careful with them. I complained to the shop, and they tried everything to not give me my money back. I got a few coins eventually today, but that was very far from half of the amount I have paid for it. Do NOT buy from these scammers, they will only rip you off. You will only get bad quality for an unreasonable price. 😠

If you return an item

If you return an item, they will charge you 3 shipping fees.

a. One fee to get the item.
b. a second fee for you to send it back.
c. a third fee when they make the refund and do so just because they can.

This is not fully disclosed when you order, so BUYERS BEWARE OF THE SCAM!!!!!

Great products bad returns policy

Great products. But their return policy is that the customer pays to return the product and then they keep the money the customer initially paid for shipping as well even though they received the product back at no cost.

Revolver Holster Rip Off

I inquired about getting a holster, but they replied that they didn't have one for my model, so they referred me to a Mr. Barnett with Libertygunleather.com, and after waiting nine months of listening to excuses, the end result was I got ripped off for $185.00. I would recommend dealing with your local gun store, or find one in person.

I wanted a Vigilante town coat to wear…

I wanted a Vigilante town coat to wear to school just to be the best dressed man, but they didn't have it. I was concerned about their low supply, so I waited and waited. The long process of waiting is more than a year now. I'm very disappointed at historical emporium. They try to find excuses to make it sound like they're extremely busy by blaming it on the pandemic.

45 days to arrive!

So I ordered a gun belt and 2 holsters from this website and I ordered everything on the 22nd of July and it took until the 5th of September to arrive. It took 45 days give or take to arrive, and when the gun belt and holsters arrived the gun belt didn’t fit me. Now I’m a 34 waist and I haven’t gained or lost any weight or changed waist size but I was very displeased when it arrived and it didn’t even fit! I haven’t brought this up with the company because I know I would just be smacked with a huge return package bill to only be refunded half of the amount I paid because of the cost of shipping that apparently takes 45 days to get to me. The only reason I’ve given them 2/5 is because the person I was emailing was very helpful. Oh and one last thing, I had to pay half of the amount of the order to customs for the package. Unhappy to say the least.

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would. I strongly recommend steering clear of this company. They have zero respect for history or those who lived it.

I ordered a model ship of the USS Des Moines from them via Amazon. I placed the order for my 83 year old grandfather who served on the USS Des Moines more than 60 years ago. He was so excited to have and work on a model of this decommissioned ship that he has so many memories of. We eagerly awaited its arrival and when it finally came we opened the box to find... the wrong ship.

When I submitted the return request, The History Store told me that if I sent it directly back to them, they would send the correct ship (instead of just getting a refund through Amazon). They sent me a shipping label that I brought, along with the ship, to The UPS Store. As with any Amazon return, they said they would take care of sending it back.

A few days later, I was given a $60 refund. When I inquired about the replacement ship, I was told by The History Store that they would not be sending one. They claimed that the product was not packaged correctly for return and could no longer be sold as new. Because of this, they charged me a $90 restocking fee and refunded the remaining $60.

Amazon reached out to the seller on my behalf to explain the situation and request that the full amount be refunded. The History Store refused and suggested that I take it up with the UPS Store. I couldn't do that as The UPS Store requires pictures of the damaged package as well as other details they would have (as the ones that paid for the shipping and received the package). When I pointed this out to them, I received no response.

Overall, The History Store provided absolutely appalling customer service, especially given the fact that they sent the wrong product to begin with. My grandfather still does not have his ship. We'll be looking to purchase one from a different seller.

Hi Cassandra - I think there is some confusion about your order. Our company is Historical Emporium and we sell old fashioned clothing. We do not sell models of ships at all. Sorry that you had a bad experience with this other company. I hope you are able to get the model ship for your grandfather. Regards, Historical Emporium www.historicalemporium.com

I agree that they are overpriced and…

I agree that they are overpriced and out of stock on many things. I had to buy the item I wanted in a medium even though I wear small or x-small. And even the medium was "special order"

I also read on Reddit that, as the person below me says as well, the brands they sell are actually much cheaper and they mark them up enormously.

But what I'm most upset about is the lack of warning that there would be a large customs bill delivering to Canada. I order so many packages that never charge me customs that I forgot it was even a thing. Now I have this $50 bill for something I didn't even want... I was given a gift certificate for Historical Emporium so I used it because why not. I didn't expect this huge bill to receive it. I want to send the item back now and I just know it's going to be a huge headache to deal with trying to get it sent back. NOT impressed.

Over Priced, and Out of Stock

At first glance, Historical Emporium seems like a dream come true for victorian clothing enthusiasts. However after the initial glee of browsing through their decent selection of reproduction clothing, one my come to realize that Historical Emporium largely is just a resale mark up of Wah maker and frontier classic brands. While that is understandable, and forgivable. What I can not stand is the complete lack of stock in normal or smaller sizes. Nearly every item in their Catalog is out of stock in any size below obese. And this happens fairly quickly as well. You would think that they would order larger batches of the smaller sizes that sell out.
Long story short, I do not see myself giving any more business to The over priced Historical Emporium even if they had something in my size.

Very poor return policy

I ordered two top hats, both the same size. One was too small. Very disappointed to learn that I would need to spend $54 to ship back the hat. Deceptive return policy, and poor size descriptions. While I like the clothing, I will not shop with this vendor again due to their return policy.

I have ordered several items from Historical Emporium, and never been disappointed. Everything I’ve ordered has been of high quality, durable, fits well, comfortable. Excellent customer service and quick delivery (I live fewer than 100 miles from their location). I frequently get compliments on their products. Historical Emporium clothing is one of the mainstays of my wardrobe.
