I've been a HI member for years. I was surprised to learn that the member database is separate from the HI website. So, when I reserved a room at a US hostel recently, the reservation system showed it had no record of my membership. It kept offering me opportunities to become a member. I had to phone that particular hostel to learn that they'd confirm my membership upon check-in. I wish this disconnect was made obvious on the website itself. I wouldn't have wasted so much time trying to update my account and then phoning the hostel.

Good afternoon! My friends and I rented some Hostels in Germany and had no difficulties and the service was fast and practical! I have stayed in France, Switzerland and Netherlands in Hostels and all very good! Some new, very clean, with places to store our bags and backpacks, good breakfast and the staff always serve us well, giving good tips on tours and how to get to places. I've always had great experiences and usually the Hostels are very well located, which helps us a lot to get around and save time!

Booking is easy, but no way to update online. I booked Aug 4. To move to Aug 5, I need to book Aug 5 and cancel Aug 4, and the deposit for Aug 4 is not refunded.

In my experience HI is simply the best hostel!

The booking procedure is very easy and intuitive. However, some of the Hi hostels available in Canada were not included in the list.

It was not said that I had to pay for an annual HI subscription before booking. It's an important information not to hide to guests.

Best customs service, Sarah took the time needed to answer all my questions and I'm looking forward to my trip!

This website was so easy to use and I was done by page 3 of booking. My only problem was finding the translation page for a second. Otherwise it was quick and simple

Hostels are good to many travellers.

Stayed at the Morty Rich hostel in Houston a few times before and getting a reservation this time (July 20th) was very simple!!!! Going down there to see The Astros play a couple of baseball games over a weekend and staying in The Hostel makes this drive and weekend such a fun experience !!! Thank you for the quick assistance!!!!!!!

It was easy to book, but I would have appreciated more information on how much the HI membership cost before it got me to the checkout page. Also, the price breakdown was a little confusing.
